Sergey Kovalev faces Igor Mikhalkin on March 3 on HBO
Sergey ‘Krusher’ Kovalev (31-2-1, 27 KOs) will be making his first defense of his WBO 175lb. title against Igor Mikhalkin (21-1, 9 KOs) on March 3 on HBO at Madison Square Garden in New York. Kovalev’s management wanted Sullivan Barrera for the fight, but he decided to fight WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol for his title.

WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (26-0, 12 KOs) took former IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (38-4, 33 KOs) to school on Saturday night in defeating him by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision at the Place Bell in Laval, Canada. The scores were 120-108, 117-111 and 118-110.

WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders (25-0, 12 KOs) and former middleweight champ David Lemieux (38-3, 33 KOs) made weight on Friday in weighing in each coming in at 160 pounds for Saturday’s contest at the Place Bell in Laval, Quebec, Canada. Saunders-Lemieux will be televised on HBO Championship Boxing and BoxNation on Saturday night.
With Saunders heckling him the whole time, Lemieux had to strip down completely to make the 160 lb. weigh-in limit. Lemieux made the weight, but he looked pretty drained for having made the weight. Saunders is hoping he can take advantage of Lemieux on Saturday night if he’s not 100 percent due to his problems getting down to the weight.

IBF World featherweight champion Lee Selby (26-1, 9 KOs) retained his title tonight with a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision over the much younger 24-year-old Eduardo Ramirez (20-1-3, 7 KOs) on Saturday night at the Copper Box Arena in London, England.
The final scores were 118-110, 119-109 and 115-112. Boxing 247 had Selby winning 9 rounds to 3. Ramirez fought well in rounds 3, 9 and 11.
