Dogboe, Chacon make weight for Saturday night in Accra

Ghana’s Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe (16-0, 10 KOs) and Javier Nicholas Chacon of Argentina (25-3-1, 7 KOs) both made a similar weight of 121.1 lbs on Friday morning in Accra ahead of their clash for the WBO International Super Bantamweight title on Saturday night.

Dubbed ‘Road to Las Vegas,’ the fight will be officiated by renowned American boxing referee, Tony Weeks who has been in Ghana for nearly a week now and on Wednesday conducted a one-day ring officiating course for Ghanaian boxing officials, trainers, boxers, media and enthusiasts.

Ghana’s Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe (27-1, 13 KOs) will make mincemeat of former IBF super featherweight champion, Argenis Mendez (24-5-1, 12 KOs) of the Dominican Republic when the duo clash in Accra for Tagoe’s IBO Lightweight world title on August 26, according to Asamoah Gyan, manager and promoter of the Ghanaian boxer.

Gyan, more famous as captain of Ghana’s national soccer team, was at the Seconds Out gym in the Ghanaian capital on Monday afternoon to watch his prodigy train in preparation for the fight against Mendez.

Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather appears to have confirmed he has signed the contract to fight UFC champ, Conor McGregor following reports in Ghana on the postponement of his scheduled tour to the West African country this week.
