All time great Joe Calzaghe gets manager’s license, signs up two Olympians

Welsh legend and all time great Joe Calzaghe has tried a few things since leaving the ring with a perfect 46-0 record in 2008. “The Pride of Wales” has turned his talented hand to acting, he has written his biography and he has performed pundit duties. But boxing remains in Calzaghe’s blood and he has just successfully applied for his manager’s licence.

Joe will now look to guide up and coming young talent, which will allow him to remain very much involved in the sport. According to a news piece that has appeared in The Sun, Calzaghe, having obtained his license, will guide both Josh Kelly and Joe Cordina, two boxers who fought at the Rio Olympics last summer.

Michael Koncz says Manny Pacquiao’s next fight will “100 percent be in the UAE”

For a while, it looked as though superstar Manny Pacquaao’s next fight would take place in Australia, however, it now seems definite Pac-Man will box in the UAE; either in Abu Dhabi or Dubai – at least this is the word according to Pacquiaio’s long-time advisor Michael Koncz.

Koncz put a message up on Pac-Man’s official social media channels, saying “See you in UAE for my next fight.”

Fighting with his Ricky Hatton-esque style, Zhanat Zhakiyanov (27-1, 18 KOs) defeated WBA World bantamweight champion Rau’shee Warren (14-2, 4 KOs) by an impressive 12 round split decision tonight at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. The fight was pretty one-sided. There was no reason for the contest to be a split decision, because Zhakiyanov punished the 29-year-old Warren with power shots from rounds 2 through 12.
