The fight was almost stopped in the 1st round after Povetkin appeared to injure Rudenko and his neck with a rabbit shot.

WBA World super middleweight champion Tyson Zeuge (21-0-1, 11 KOs) won a 12 round unanimous decision tonight over #5 WBA Paul Smith (38-7, 22 KOs) at the Rittal Arena in Wetzlar, Hessen, Germany. Smith gave it his best shot, but he lacked the technical skills overcome the 25-year-old Zeuge, who controlled the fight throughout with his jab. Smith didn’t start attacking until the last 3 rounds when things were looking bleak for him. By that point, Smith needed a knockout, but it wasn’t going to happen.

Ryan Burnett (17-0, 9 KOs) battered IBF World bantamweight champion Lee Haskins (34-0, 14 KOs) for 12 round rounds on Saturday night to win an impressive 12 round split decision at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. One judge had it for Haskins by the score 118-108. The other 2 judges saw Burnett as the better fighter of the two in giving him the win by the scores 119-107, 119-107.
Results: Adonis Stevenson destroys Andrzej Fonfara
The over-matched Andrzej Fonfara (29-5, 17 KOs) gave it his best shot but he was no match for WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) in getting blown away in just 2 rounds in their rematch on Saturday night on Showtime Championship Boxing in front of a large crowd of Stevenson supporters at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Eleider Alvarez (23-0, 11 KOs) showed why he’s ranked No.1 by the World Boxing Council in beating 34-year-old Jean Pascal (31-5-1, 18 KOs) By a 12 round majority decision on Saturday night in a slightly interesting fight on Showtime Championship Boxing at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Alvarez had his way with Pascal in hitting him with his hard jabs all night long.

Tonight’s Mexican clash between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) was supposed to have been an exciting affair on HBO PPV, but instead it turned out to be even worse dud than the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight from 2015. Indeed, Mayweather-Pacquiao was exciting in comparison to the Canelo-Chavez Jr. fight on Saturday night.

Middleweight contender David Lemieux (39-3, 33 KOs) tried his best to score a quick knockout over high level journeyman Marcos Reyes (35-5, 26 KOs) tonight, but it failed to happen so he had to settle for winning a one-sided 10 round unanimous decision on Saturday night on the undercard of the Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. card at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In moving back down to middleweight, Martin Murray (35-4-1, 16 KOs) kept his career alive on Saturday night with a 12 round majority decision win over high level journeyman Gabriel Rosado (23-11, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Murray used his precise punching to win rounds over the 31-year-old Rosado, who got off to a bad start in the first 7 rounds.

Ricky Burns (41-6-1, 14 KOs) lost his WBA light welterweight title tonight to IBF champion Julius Indongo (22-1, 15 KOs) in a 12 round unanimous decision defeat at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. The fight was about as one-sided as you’ll ever see without it stopped. However, two of the scores by the judges seemed to be in fantasy land in giving Burns rounds that he clearly didn’t win. The scores were 120-108, 118-110 and 116-112. The score of those three that made sense was the 120-108 score.
Results: Lomachenko beats Sosa; Usyk and Gvozdyk win
In a one-sided mismatch, Vasyl Lomachenko (8-1, 6 KOs) battered and beat down Jason Sosa (20-2-4, 15 KOs) in scoring a 9th round TKO to retain his WBO super featherweight title tonight at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The fight was stopped at the urging of Sosa’s corner at the end of the 9th.
Lomachenko had beaten Sosa badly to the point where the contest needed to be stopped. Thankfully, Sosa’s corner had the wisdom to stop the fight because it really needed to be stopped a round earlier in the 8th when he was badly hurt. Sosa’s face was swollen from the punishment that he’d absorbed in this hopeless mismatch.
