Rashidi Ellis: An Up and Coming Prospect

“I`ll be a world champion in a couple of years because I`m extremely confident in all my skills especially my speed and defense which is good enough to compete with anyone and with additional fights, I`m only going to get better,“ said Ellis.

Ellis is getting a great deal of publicity due to his stellar amateur success. He recorded an impressive 60-11 record against really good competition. This year, he won a Silver Medal at the Independent Cup in the Dominican Republic, losing a close bout to Cuba`s Roniel Iglesias, a gold medalist in the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Golovkin Punishes Stevens and Then Stops Him in the 8th Round

golovkin41Undefeated knockout artist, Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin punished Curtis “Showtime” Stevens over seven rounds before Stevens` head trainer and uncle, Andre Rozier saw enough and stopped the fight before the eight round began, preventing Stevens from receiving anymore punishment. Golovkin retained his World Boxing Association (“WBA”) and International Boxing Organization Middleweight Title for the ninth and sixth time respectively.

This fight took place in an almost sold out Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City, New York and was televised on HBO Boxing After Dark.

Golovkin controlled the action in this competitive bout but one that he outworked and out landed Stevens and demonstrated that he was the vastly superior boxer. He pressed the action throughout the fight and cut off the ring really well as he had Stevens on the ropes on several occasions where he landed a great deal of punishing shots.

Is Floyd Mayweather One of the Greatest Boxers of All Time?

004 Mayweather vv Canelo IMG_9669After Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr.`s (45-0, 26KOs) twelve round domination against Saul “Canalo” Alvarez last month, garnering the World Boxing Association and the World Boxing Council`s Light Middleweight Belts, his claim of being the best pound for pound pugilist of all time, gained even more credence.

He demonstrated in his last fight that it appears that there is no one in the world that can defeat him. The last 45 opponents tried and failed and none of them besides Jose Castillo, in their first fight, even came close to conquering Mayweather. Mayweather beat him in the rematch, leaving no doubt as to who was the better boxer. Money doesn`t just win bouts, he dominates them and takes the fight to his opponents, which is made all the more impressive when considering that he`s 36 years old, has been fighting for the last 17 years and often times is facing a younger and stronger opponent, as was the case with Alvarez.

Andrade`s Opportunity At Stardom Begins On Nov 9th

002AndradeandHunterIMG_7448Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (19-0, 13KOs), the 2008 U.S. Olympian and one of the most decorated American amateur pugilists, will get his long awaited opportunity at a world title after several delays and opponent changes, when he takes on the former 2004 Olympian, Vanes “Nightmare” Martirosyan (33-0-1, 21KOs) on November 9th in Corpus Christi, Texas, for the vacant World Boxing Organization`s (“WBO”) Junior Middleweight Championship.

Andrade was supposed to fight former WBO champion, Zaurbek Baysangurov last July; however, the Russian pulled out of the bout due to an injury, causing him to be stripped of his belt, leaving the title vacant for the two top rated WBO 154 pounders, respectively, Andrade and Martirosyan.

Danny O` Connor Beats Raul Tover

847 The 2008 Olympic Team Alternate, Danny “Bhoy” O` Connor put in a workman like performance against Raul Tover as he controlled all eight rounds of their welterweight bout enroute to an unanimous decision with two scorecards of 79-73 and one scorecard of 80-73. O` Connor improved to 23-1, 7KOs while Tover from Mission, Texas, dropped to 11-8-1, 4KOs.

“I felt good out there and did what I had to to beat a tough fighter in Tover,” said O` Connor. “In fighting for the third time in the last four months, I`m trying to be the most active fighter out there who continues to fight as often as I can until I get a significant bout that leads me to a world title.”

O` Connor out punched and out landed Tover, displayed a great jab, worked the body well and had him in trouble in the second, seventh and eighth round, however, he was unable to finish him off as Tover hung in there and tried to make it a fight until the end.

Josh Beeman Defeats Candelario, Jr. at the Roxy in Boston

“Steamin” Josh Beeman defeated Carlos “The Dragon” Candelario, Jr. by a majority decision in their four round light welterweight fight by two scorecards of 38-37 and one scorecard of 38-38. This fight was a tale of two halves with Candelario, Jr. dominating the first two rounds, attacking the body well, backing up Beeman and Beeman having trouble landing his punches.

An Inside Look At Michael Oliveira

Michael Oliveira 81[1]Light Middleweight Contender, Michael “The Brazilian Rocky” Oliveira, (21-1, 16KOs), puts his career back on track after it was temporality derailed with his first professional loss to four-time, two division world champion, Brazilian icon, Accelino “Popo” Freitas, (39-2, 33KOs); by winning four consecutive bouts in which he garnered the vacant World Boxing Association (“WBA”) Fedebol Light Middleweight Title and the vacant World Boxing Counsel (“WBC”) Fecarbox Light Middleweight Title. He successfully defended these two straps, twice.

Oliveira, born in Sao Paulo, Brazil but moved to Miami, Florida when he was two weeks ago, is ranked number six by the WBC and number seven by the WBA. He looks to move up the ranking in his division, as he’s tentatively scheduled to fight, Omar “El Businessman” Chavez, (30-2-1, 22KOs), on October 12 in Las Vegas, Nevada, in an intriguing bout between two up and coming boxers.

Barker Defeats Geale in a Thriller

barker100Darren “Dazzling” Barker and Daniel “The Real Deal” Geale fought an all out action packed twelve round bout that could be considered one of the fights of the year; in which Barker earned the hard fought split decision victory over Geale to become the new International Boxing Federation (“IBF”) Middleweight Champion. Barker garnered two scorecards of 116-111 and 114-113 while Geale received the other scorecard of 114-113.

This fight was televised by HBO Boxing After Dark from the Revel Casino – Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Barker from England improved his record to 26-1, 16KOs with the victory and has won three consecutive fights since his lone loss as a professional when he was stopped by current World Boxing Council Middleweight Champion and one of the pound for pound best fighters in the world, Sergio Martinez in the eleventh round.

Iraq War Veteran, Chris Traietti scored a six round knockout over Dion Stanley as the referee stopped the bout at 1:11 after Traietti landed several combinations that had Stanley down for the second time in the fight, the other knockdown was in the fifth round.
