Avalos decisions Francisco; Tapia defeats Han in a war

tapia12Using a high volume punching attack, super bantamweight contender Chris Avalos (23-2, 16 KO’s) outworked the quicker and harder hitting Drian Francisco (24-2-1, 19 KO’s) in winning a 10 round unanimous decision tonight at the Texas Station Casino, Las in Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Francisco looked like the better fighter, but he didn’t have the engine to throw as many punches as Avalos and that ultimately was the deciding factor in the fight. The judges’ scored it 96-94, 97-93 and 97-93. Continue reading

Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super Four Final this Saturday at 3 p.m.

beIN SPORT will televise boxing spectacular Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super Four Final this Saturday at 3 p.m. Promoter Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves has partnered with the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Principality of Monaco to put on the Monte Carlo Million Dollar Super Four tournament.

Four bouts – for the EBU Middleweight Title, WBC Cruiserweight Silver Belt, WBA Super Lightweight World Title and Super Four Final – will take place at the Casino de Monte Carlo to celebrate South African icon Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday. The two Super Four winners fight for a 60/40 share of $1 million, while the others fight for coveted titles.

Famed boxing announcer Michael Buffer will be the ring announcer handling the duties for the final two fights. Commenting will be Brian Mitchell and Phumlani Msibi, both experienced and highly respected commentators from SuperSport in South Africa.
