Hopkins has had a great career, I will say that. The man’s a fighter…but Joe Calzaghe beat him fair n square, and he would be wise to stay away from Sergey Kovalev.Posted March 13, 2014 8:45 pm

Calzaghe whooped Hopkins? Ha ha ha I must have watched a diff Joe v Bernard fight 20 times. Yes joe let plenty go? Not many damaging ones’s, if any. Joe got dropped, Hopkins landed more counter/power shots…u could score that fight a diff way every time u watch it. The aggressor got the split decision that day….A win, yes. But whooped? No.Posted March 13, 2014 2:47 am
Anonymous Calzaghe never fought dirty like your boy Hopkins. He didn’t need to. He was that good.Posted March 12, 2014 8:19 pm

I honestly believe that it’s time for some kind of masters tournament, when these old chaps can earn a crust & carry on in the limelight. it’s not that long ago that Jeff Fenich & Azuma Nelson climbed back in the ring for one last harah & Ken Buchanan has always been up for it. So why not an old boys exhibition tour?!!………Posted March 12, 2014 3:48 pm
Calzaghe whupped Bernard good.Posted March 12, 2014 1:19 pm
Calzaghe humiliated Hopkins . . .
Bernard hasn’t felt like that since limping out the shower room on Prison Day TwoPosted March 12, 2014 11:53 am
Calzaghe whupped Hopkins, Jones, Lacy and Bika. Gave them Italian Stallion beatings!Posted March 12, 2014 11:46 am
Undefeated Calzaghe whooped both Hopkins and Jones. And whooped Jeff Lacy even worse!Posted March 12, 2014 11:44 am
the Hopkins knockdown was a push. Clean nice shot, followed by a push.Posted March 12, 2014 11:43 am
If they get a good referee for this, Shumenov can send Bernard into retirement!Posted March 12, 2014 11:36 am
Calzaghe beat both Hopkins and Roy Jones…impressive!Posted March 12, 2014 11:34 am

Killing Moon The Soothsayer
Hopkins legs took 3-4 rounds to loosen up in his last fight and he carried a back stiffness throughout the whole fight…And he was basicly a sitting duck just taking punishment against a very average fighter….If this trend continues he could be in for a world of hurt against another less than spectacular fighter…Smoger did a terrible job last time around…But it was Hopkins most entertaining fight for years…So what the hell i’ll be watching..Posted March 12, 2014 10:14 am

For the good of the sport I hope there’s a tough ref in there. If Bhop is forced to fight cleanly then Shumenov has a real chance!Posted March 12, 2014 4:04 am
lets be honest here, first hopkins is fouled feeled through his career.headbutts, rabbit punches and headbutts that would make holyfield jealous.the only thing i give him credit for is not bitting someones ear,,,, YET.That and how his legs are still holding up which of course makes me supsicous, why not scream for testing like we all do for paqiou?Ps, i can tink of 1 fighter he ducked in his prime and wanted none of, my boy james tooney, he didnt want it.toney in his prime is what an all time great looks like.Posted March 12, 2014 2:27 am
B-Hop is a LEGEND!This guy fought the best fighters of his era and he still spanking New fighters for fun. B-Hop should be P4P every year. Roy Jones was the most skillful fighter if his era and is considered one of the best but there is only one B-Hop. Mayweather equals Roy Jones.Posted March 12, 2014 1:32 am
I’m tipping beibut to have a strong first round and from there on Bhop completely spoils the fight, turning it into messy, scrappy hugfest. the crowd will start booing by the 8th round when they realize bhop Is planning to spoil for the whole 12 and the young frustrated kid can’t get his arms free. bhop to win a UD 118-110 twice, 119-109. boxing media will gush in amazement at his accomplishment, completely disregarding the fact that he completely stunk the joint up. (on another note, anonymouses post confirms that he is an aussie, for all those who were wondering)Posted March 11, 2014 11:15 pm
Wouldn’t surprise me if Steve the cheat Smoger was the ref and he let that wanker Hopkins cheat all through the fight. Shumenov may fight great but don’t expect him to win. Hopkins is a cheating sideshow freak and a crap boxer. His fights are always terrible. I’d rather watch paint dry.Posted March 11, 2014 10:08 pm
who is Quillen? Sad to say I sort of agree with anon.Posted March 11, 2014 9:45 pm
Gotta luv BEIBUT!!!! Can’t wait to see this fight. I’m impressed with his conditioning and know he’s gonna come in ready!Posted March 11, 2014 8:30 pm

People should now appriciate this fight more now when Gennedy Golovkin’s fight and Marco Huck’s fight as well is cancelled for atleast a few months so Hopkins vs Shumenov world title unification fight both feels better and is ranked higher of planed fights to happen.Posted March 11, 2014 8:21 pm

Looking forward for this world light heavyweight title unification fight (IBF/WBA/IBA) with Bernard Hopkins vs. Beibut Shumenov. This fight will be one of the best to look forward for in 2014 and I will cheer for the old champion bernard Hopkins. Just awsome if he could pull another upset off. Hopkins have already broken several boxing records in his career so if he could ad oldest champ tu make a un ification would be the cherry on top of his great cake :-)
Beibut Shumenov (14-1-0 KO’s 9) is the WBA/IBA world light heavyweight champion and have defended his title 5 times sence he won the belt in 2010 from Gabriel Campillo.
Hopkins counter skills and defence master skills and good reach advantage will prove very usefull against the younger and aggreesivier fighter Shumenov and if Hopkins still can turn back the clockl just one more time to pull this off, the word can just be AMAZING.
Bernard hopkins is a rarly gifted boxer and I thud no man ever in my life could be a recognised proffesional world champion in boxing at age 49 and be competive but Hopkins have so many times proven as a underdog to come out on top of the game.
I will wish Bernard Hopkins a great year in boxing and that he can pull this off once again.
Also great undecard on the event to put up the undefeated WBO world middleweight champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (30-0-0 KO’s 22) making his 3rd defence of his world title belt against former European light middleweight and Interim WBO light middleweight champion Lukas Konecny (50-4-0 KO’s 23). I mean Konecny is the WBO Nr.2# ranked and well fight expearenced as a PRO with 54 fights and have fought in numerous title belt fights against good opponents.
Also to note that 2 of his 4 losses was close ones and he have never in his losses looked bad and Peter Quillin will have a fight to keep up with Lukas Konecny,s tight defence and solid guard. Quillin, the naturaly bigger man with best reach will be the offencer and have most power but if he is not carefull he will get it by suprise attacks when Konecny fast comes out from his shield with counter hits to then go back to his effective shielding.Posted March 11, 2014 8:17 pm
Hopkins gets old in this one. Shumenov will slap him silly.Posted March 11, 2014 8:15 pm
so what, I couldn’t care less about Hopkins, he should just go back to the retirement home and be racist to his white walls.Posted March 11, 2014 7:48 pm
I think shumenov has a real chance at winning the fight if b-hop was kept in check with all of his old school ruff house tactic s and fouling but I can’t see that happening.Posted March 11, 2014 7:35 pm
