Reynoso: Mayweather Jr’s time is over; now it’s Canelo’s time

9ERud8OU-02R969XPqVwwaAMibZtFvhj2x13A2Kp2Jw(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) Chepo Reynoso, the trainer for WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s), thinks Floyd Mayweather Jr’s long reign as the top fighter in boxing is about to end on September 14th when he faces the 22-year-old Canelo at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Reynoso believes that once Mayweather Jr. has been defeated, Canelo will start his own reign as the top fighter. It’ll be his time.

Reynosa said to Univision “Canelo will win this fight because it’s his time. There is a time of rain and a time of drought and the time of Floyd Mayweather Jr. is over and now follows Saul.”

Arum plans on having Zou Shiming fight on Pacquiao-Rios undercard in November

shiming33In a not surprising move, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum will be sticking unbeaten Chinese flyweight Zou Shiming (1-0) on the undercard of the November 23rd Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios pay per view card from Macao, China. Shiming, 32, has a fight scheduled 6-round bout this month against Mexican novice Jesus Ortega (3-1, 2 KO’s) that Shiming has to take care of first at the Venetian Casino & Resort in Macao, China.

Shiming’s fight on the Pacquiao vs. Rios card will be an 8 round bout, and following that Arum wants to move Shiming up to 10 round bouts. The idea here is to quickly move the former two-time Chinese Olympic Gold medalist quickly so that he can fight for a world title by next year provided he keeps winning and looking good in his bouts.

Britain’s Got Talent : Tyson Fury vs David Haye

fury565By Fantana: It is a sad state of affairs when Kings are hung, drawn and quartered in front of their own people. Kings who have inspired many nations, even ones like Scotland, to feel good about themselves. Unfortunately Britain lost a king in Audley Harrison recently, obviously due to extremely poor refereeing, but beside Audley there has been undue flak headed Tyson Fury’s way. In my eyes as a boxing purist he has done nothing wrong.

Coming back after being floored by an American to win via devastating clobbering is pretty impressive. It was a performance that Tyson Fury can take pride in, maybe a bit rough around the edges but nevertheless impressive, a bit like a Land Rover. Tyson Fury squashed America’s heavyweight title dream and I believe he is going to do the same thing to Cyprus resident David Haye.
