I do love Tyson Fury’s twitter. The 6ft 9″ giant British heavyweight, who is soon to get a shot at lineal heavyweight champ and future Hall of Famer Wladimir Klitschko, last night took the opportunity to wind up American rival Deontay Wilder in his own unique and inimitable style when the Alabama man posted a “caption this” selfie for his 88k followers, in which he had a surprised look on his face.
Fury wasted no time tweeting;
“u ugly cu**”
And he didn’t edit the expletive!
He enjoys a considerable base of support here in the UK – and top American welterweight Keith Thurman, who boxes Luis Collazo next month on Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN – has spoken out regarding the “Mayweather September Sweepstakes” to suggest that if it is not he who gets the call to face his countryman and P4P star for “Money’s” 49th fight, then British IBF champion Kell Brook is more than deserving of the opportunity.
Speaking to BehindTheGloves.com Thurman also went as far as to suggest that Brook’s domestic rival Amir Khan – who has been publicly chasing a Floyd fight for over 2 years – has yet to show he truly belongs at 147 and thus is not as deserving a challenger.

We of course have the PBC Broner v Porter card, as well as the “Son of God’s” return in Oakland when Andre Ward takes on Britain’s Paul Smith – who incidentally came in a whopping 4 lbs over the agreed 172 catch-weight.
However the one fight that has seemingly gone under the radar is the IBF 160 lb title fight between big -punching French-Canadian David Lemieux and France’s teak tough Hassan N’Dam. It is on Fox Sports 2 in the US and has thankfully been picked up by Boxnation in the UK.

This is especially true of professional sports in which human beings have forever sought to gain an unfair advantage in a perceived fair world.
There are few sports to which this statement can be most aptly applied down the years than boxing. That’s not to say other sports don’t have their problems, corruption is of course prevalent in almost all walks of life and all forms of business in modern society.

Ward (27-0 14 KO’s) and challenger Paul “Real Gone Kid” Smith (35-5, 20 KO’s) came together to weigh in for Saturday nights main event at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. Fellow Roc Nation fighter Miguel Cotto also stopped by for a photo op. Ward weighed in at 171.8lbs, looking lean and ready to fight. Paul Smith weighed in at 176.4 lbs, which was 4.4 lbs. over the agreed upon 172 catch-weight.
Smith’s camp decided to accept the fine rather than lose the additional weight required of all professional fighters. Smith may somehow think that the extra weight may give him an advantage over Ward, who has not fought since 2013.
Adrien “The Problem” Broner faces “Showtime” Shawn Porter for Ohio bragging rights not to mention a large step forward on the ladder to stardom. The fight takes place at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas and will be broadcasted live on NBC. A catchweight has been implored by Broner in efforts to reduce Porter’s strength and stamina. Can Broner effectively play matador to Porter’s bull rush in a game of catch the predator?
(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) If there were any worries over his mental and physical state ahead of Saturday’s 144 lb catch-weight fight against Adrien Broner – then Shawn Porter isn’t allowing them to show – assuring everybody at the heated final presser that he is more than ready to make his Ohioan rival pay and that he intends on coming out of that ring the clear winner.
Talking to fighthype.com about Broner’s antics, Porter was adamant that he won’t let “The Problem” get under his skin. Asked if he felt that was Broner’s intention with the verbal barbs he directed towards the former IBF champion and father Kenny, “Showtime” said;
American heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder made the first defense of his WBC title when he scored a 9th round KO victory against the lightly regarded Eric Molina. The fight, which took place in Wilder’s home state of Alabama, saw the champion drop the challenger 3 times before viciously stopping him with a fourth knockdown in the 9th round which prompted referee Jack Reiss to immediately call a halt to the bout. With the victory, Wilder improved to 34-0, with 33 of his victories coming inside the distance.

It’s a monumental task that the Liverpool fighter is facing – irrespective of Ward’s inactivity – and the former 168 lb world title challenger will further be hindered by the 172 lb catch-weight insisted on by the American.
