Floyd Mayweather Rips Golovkin … You’re a Nobody!

Floyd Mayweather is already trading shots with Gennady Golovkin … telling TMZ Sports the guy’s just running his mouth for a payday — and he’s way out of his league. Golovkin — who’s knocked out his last 20 opponents — told us Mayweather would be his “dream fight” and is 100% certain he’d win if they ever got in the ring together.

Now, Mayweather’s camp is issuing a response … saying, “Everyone in boxing wants to fight Floyd. It’s the biggest payday they could possibly have.”

“[Golovkin] has never fought a top opponent in his whole career … we’re surprised you guys would even have him on your show to be honest.”

Sounds like fightin’ words.

Golovkin has no doubts he’d beat Mayweather

It seems as if a new cockier version of Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) has emerged in the last four weeks since his win over Willie Monroe Jr. on May 16th. Gone is the humble, soft spoken Golovkin that never trash talked. The newer Golovkin is now unafraid to let his opponents know what he thinks of them.

In the case of Floyd Mayweather Jr., a fighter that Golovkin badly wants to fight, he sees him as no problem for him to beat. Golovkin says he’s 100 percent certain he would beat Mayweather if the superstar were to dare to fight him before he hangs up his gloves.

It’s certainly one of the more anticipated fights that Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions brand has delivered thus far, and ahead of Saturday’s clash with Adrien Broner from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, “Showtime” Shawn Porter has spoken via Sky Sports to criticise his opponent for seemingly refusing to discuss the contracted catch-weight stipulation and rehydration clause, that essentially tip the scales in favour of the physically smaller Broner.

Porter, who has boxed up at 154 lb in the past and who comes in as a genuine welter, blowing up to 155-160 on fight night, is angry that Broner is refusing to talk to the media about the catch weight – something “The Problem” insisted on if the fight was to be made.
