Smith v Fielding – Main Event Preview

photo by Lawrence Lustig – Callum Smith, 17-0 (12KO’s), and Rocky Fielding, 21-0 (12KO’s), will meet on Saturday in their eagerly anticipated clash for the vacant British super-middleweight title in Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

There’s nothing quite like a British title fight, especially one involving two local rivals in their own parish. However, this fight goes far beyond the coveted Lonsdale strap, with both fighters sight firmly fixed on World honours.

Bradley vs. Rios: Rejuvenated Rios plays spoiler or fabricated hype?

Bradley vs. Rios: Rejuvenated Rios plays spoiler or fabricated hype?

Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley steps in the ring with “Bam Bam” Brandon Rios Saturday night live on HBO from Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center. The hype or lack of hype heading into fight week is really no surprise. After all Floyd Mayweather just fought in sin city two months ago and in two weeks time the Mandalay Bay hosts Canelo vs. Cotto.

With both men hailing from California it would’ve been a nice fit at The Forum, its original spot. Unfortunately a miscommunication occurred and the end result is a pretty decent scrap in the wrong venue. The fight itself isn’t that great of a matchup at welterweight. A few years back it may have been seen as a showcase. That’s not to say this scribe won’t be excited once the bell rings, it’s just not an event the public demanded.

Vasyl Lomachenko: I Want to Fight With Artistry

WBO featherweight champion, Vasyl Lomachenko (4-1, 2ko), claims that his mission in boxing is to be not only technically the best he can, yet to forever focus on showcasing those skills as a form of art, each and every time he steps between the ropes.

The Ukrainian amateur standout was beaten just the once in 397 contests as an amateur, and boxes on the under-card of the Tim Bradley/Brandon Rios welterweight clash on HBO PPV Saturday night, squaring off against little known Mexican, Romulo Koaschia (25-4, 15ko).

‘Canelo Not That Great a Fighter’ says Roach ‘Body Shots Will Kill Him Within 7 or 8 Rounds’

'Canelo Not That Great a Fighter' says Roach 'Body Shots Will Kill Him Within 7 or 8 Rounds'

WBC middleweight champion, Miguel Cotto’s trainer, Freddie Roach, believes his fighter is the smarter and more technically proficient going into his Nov. 21 clash with ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, and that those smarts, as well as body shots, will be key to a victory Roach sees coming within ‘seven or eight rounds.’

The 155 lb catch-weight clash for the WBC title is one of the biggest fights of the year, and while Cotto will be both the older, and smaller man on the night, Roach believes his smarts and experience will be a crucial difference maker against the enormously popular Mexican challenger, who Roach claims ‘isn’t that great a fighter.’

DeGale: 'I Want Badou Jack Unification Next Year'

IBF super middleweight champion, James DeGale (21-1,14ko), says that assuming he gets past his Nov. 28 date with Lucian Bute in Canada, then a big unification with WBC champion, Badou Jack is firmly on his radar.

The Londoner, who is with influential advisor, Al Haymon, won his title on the PBC platform against Andre Dirrell in Boston back in May, and makes the maiden defence of his IBF trinket out in the veteran’s Canadian backyard, also under the PBC banner.

Wladimir Klitschko vs Tyson Fury: Video Preview & Prediction

YouTube video

World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko is scheduled to defend his titles against Tyson Fury on November 28, in a bout that will be televised live on HBO. For Klitschko, the long reigning king of boxing’s marquee division, Fury represents one of the more interesting challenges he has faced in years. Fury still possesses the hunger of an undefeated fighter to go along with decent skills, deceptive quickness, imposing size, and unrelenting determination and self-belief. On the other hand, Klitschko is a seasoned veteran with impeccable skills and an amazing control of both range and pacing. So who will emerge victorious? Will it be the experience and pedigree of Wladimir Klitschko? Or will it be the youth and determination of Tyson Fury?

Provodnikov: Chasing Another World Title Under Joel Diaz

Provodnikov: Chasing Another World Title Under Joel Diaz

Former 140 lb world champion, Ruslan Provodnikov (24-4, 17ko), is chasing a second world title, a goal he hopes to achieve under the tutelage of new trainer, Joel Diaz, beginning the journey this Saturday in Monte Carlo, when he fights little known Mexican, Jesus Alvarez Rodriguez (14-0, 11ko) over 10 rounds at 147.

Make no mistake that Rodriguez should present nothing but a formality for Provodnikov, who has cited his struggle to get a network TV date as the main reason for facing what many consider a less-than-decent, untested opponent away from the US, the country which has been his fighting ‘home’ in recent years.
