Canelo: I’m prepared to beat Trout in a convincing fashion

Web-P3142309 WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) plans on leaving no doubts as to who the better fighter is in the ring when he faces WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) next month at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Canelo said to esnewsreporting.com “I’m preparing to win in a very convincing manner.”

Canelo will have the crowd solidly on his side for this fight. There’s already 30,000 tickets sold for the fight with a little less than a month to go before the April 20th fight. We could be looking at over 40,000 fans packing the Alamodome, and very few of them will be Trout’s fans.

Adonis Stevenson to challenge Chad Dawson on June 8th in Montreal

stevenson22 Having finally avenged his defeat against journeyman Darnell Boone by stopping him in the 6th round last Friday night, super middleweight contender Adonis Stevenson (20-1, 17 KO’s) will now set his sights on WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson (31-2, 17 KO’s) for a title challenge on June 8th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. Stevenson’s promoter Yvon Michel hopes to have negotiations completed between Stevenson and Dawson this week.

This is definitely the right time for the 35-year-old Stevenson to be fighting the 30-year-old Dawson because he’s coming off of a 10th round TKO loss to WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward last September, and the chances are that Dawson’s confidence will be at an all-time low after that defeat.

Canelo-Trout on target with 30-day weigh-in

Web-P3142517 Both WBC junior middleweight champions Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and WBC champion Austin Trout were on target with their 30-day weigh-in for their April 20th fight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Both Trout and Canelo weighed in at an identical 166.5 lbs. for the 30-day weigh-in.

At this point it’s not about taking weight off for either of them. They can sweat the 12.5 pounds off to get down to the 154 pound weight limit on the day before the fight. At 166, these guys aren’t huge for the junior middleweight division like say Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is for the middleweight division.

Abraham vs Stieglitz: Robert Stieglitz uses great game plan to beat Abraham’s turtle defense

stieg1By Jeff Sorby: You’ve got to give Robert Stieglitz (44-3, 25 KO’s) a ton of credit tonight for putting together the perfect game plan to stop WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (36-4, 28 KO’s) in the 4th round in Magdeburg, Germany. Stieglitz’s plan was a simple one. Come out fast and overwhelm Abraham’s turtle shell defense with punches in the first part of the fight.

It worked out perfectly, as Abraham ended up being stopped from a badly swollen left eye after the 3rd round had ended. Abraham’s habit of just covering up in his turtle shell defense to save energy for the later rounds ended up backfiring on him.

Stieglitz defeats Abraham; Groves KOs Barakat; Helenius oupoints Sprott; Ref saves Gerber; McMorrow beats Raoui

abe444By Vladimir S: Robert Stieglitz (44-3, 25 KO’s) came out on fire tonight blasting away at WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (36-4, 28 KO’s) with punch after punch for the first three rounds, and it paid off by Stieglitz getting a 4th round TKO win after the fight was halted by the advice of the ringside doctor due to Abraham’s left eye closing on Saturday night at the GETEC Arena, Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Allemagne, Germany.

Stieglitz looked like he’d put on a lot of muscle and strength from the last time they fought in August of last year when Abraham was the bigger guy. Stieglitz just looked on fire out there. He took the fight to Abraham in a calculated risk that he’d be able to score a knockout before he gassed out and it definitely paid off as Abraham was stopped.

Malik Scott: “Malik “King” Scott is the Best Skilled Heavyweight on the Planet Bar None and I Believe Vitali’s Time is Up and I Have No Problem Putting Him Out His Misery”

YouTube video
Exclusive interview by Charles C. White

Well Malik, I won’t ask you how you’re doing after your recent draw with Glazkov as I think most will agree that you were robbed of a seemingly clear cut victory. Give us your thoughts on this poor decision my friend?

MS: It is what it is bro…shit happens in boxing the same way it does in life…the judges saw it the way they saw it and that’s that. As long as the fans and my family saw it I’m perfectly fine with that…the milk is spilled and I’m extremely too blessed and too talented to cry over it.

What do you think was the key factor in your ability to dictate the fight against Glazkov?

MS: Well it was one main thing…and that was I just was myself. Glazkov is a good fighter and I believe his future is still a bright one but he’s just not in the same league as me, period!

Abraham-Stieglitz tonight in Magdeburg, Germany

IMG_5691(Photo Wende) By Vladimir S: WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (36-3, 28 KO’s) and Robert Stieglitz (43-3, 24 KO’s) will be doing it again tonight in a rematch at the GETEC Arena, Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. Abraham defeated Stieglitz last August by a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 116-112, 116-112, and 115-113, but the German public loved the fight and saw it as a competitive one.

It really wasn’t all that competitive from what I saw. It was one-sided except in the rounds where Abraham, who major stamina problems, needed to take rounds off to rest. When Abraham wasn’t resting, he was winning easily, and it’s hard to get excited about fight that really won’t likely be a competitive one in the true sense.

This fight does give Abraham a chance to hold onto his WBO title for a little while longer than he normally would, because as soon as he faces his #1 WBO challenger George Groves, Abraham can pretty much kiss goodbye his WBO title because he’s going to lose that fight unless he knocks Groves out or is given a controversial win.

Stevenson stops Boone in 6th! Fury stops Whittom

boone22By Jeff Sorby: Adonis Stevenson (20-1, 17 KO’s) was able to avenge his defeat against journeyman Darnell Boone (19-21-3, 8 KO’s) by giving him a terrible beating and stopping him in the 6th round on Friday night at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

It’s rare that you see a fighter ranked as high as the #1 IBF Stevenson dipping into the 2nd tier ranks to fight a journeyman like Boone, but for Stevenson it was personal because he had been knocked out in the 2nd round by Boone three years ago.

Stevenson paid him back on Friday night by giving him a furious beating that ended with Stevenson hurting Boone with a left uppercut to the head, and then knocking him out with a straight left hand finisher. The shot put Boone down face first on the canvas where he laid for some time before getting back to his feet. The fight was halted at 2:43 of the round.
