Gennadiy Golovkin and Sergiy Derevyanchenko will clash for the vacant IBF World Middleweight title on Saturday October 5 at Madison Square Garden in New York, live on DAZN, in a fight brought to you by GGG Promotions and Matchroom Boxing USA in association with DiBella Entertainment.
According to stories from ESPN and Sports Illustrated – as well as from Mike Coppinger via twitter – Gennady Golovkin and Sergiy Derevyanchenko have agreed to fight and the two will duel for the vacant IBF middleweight title on October 5 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
It seems middleweight king Canelo Alvarez may well be staying put at 160 pounds for the immediate future. There was talk of the Mexican superstar making the move up to light-heavyweight and a challenge of Sergey Kovalev, but with the Russian facing Anthony Yarde in August, Canelo has been forced to wait for this fight – one he may well still take over the coming months (assuming “Krusher” gets past British challenger Yarde okay).
