Commey wants fans in Russia to support him against Shafikov

Ghana’s Richard Oblitey Commey believes he needs as many of his fans as possible to cheer him on when he faces hard customer, Denis Shafikov next week Friday, December 2 at the Tough Fight Gym in the Russia capital, Moscow in a mandatory final eliminator for the IBF Lightweight world title.

Commey (24-1, 22 KOs) hopes to set up a rematch with American, Robert Easter Jnr with victory over the highly rated Shafikov (37-2-1, 20 KOs) whose only two career defeats came via decisions in world title fights against Miguel Vazquez in 2014 and Rances Barthelemy in 2015.

The rising star of African boxing, Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe is adamant he may have to critically look at fighting again in Ghana after the WBO African boxer of the year was unbelievably ignored during the commissioning of the newly built Bukom Boxing Arena.

President John Dramani Mahama officially unveiled the new boxing edifice inside the Trust Sports Emporium near the Korle lagoon in the outskirts of Accra last week amid fanfare where all of Ghana’s former world champions were honoured in the presence of the entire boxing fraternity.

The much awaited IBO Lightweight championship of the world fight between Ghana’s Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe and Argentina’s Fernando David Saucedo will now take place on Friday December 2, a week further than the original November 25, its official.

This has become necessary due to a request by the Argentine’s camp for the fight to be re-scheduled after suffering a shoulder injury in training, which has been agreed to by the Ghana based BabyJet Promotions who are staging the fight billed for the newly opened Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

Ghana President John Mahama has apparently demanded boxer Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe to knock out Argentina’s Fernando David Saucedo by the end of round 3 when they clash for the IBO Lightweight championship in Accra on November 25.

Tagoe and Team BabyJet Promotions who are promoting the bout at the newly built Bukom Boxing Arena, met and presented the IBO belt to the Ghanaian leader during Tuesday night’s official inauguration of the new edifice. Experienced Ghanaian referee/judge, Ataa Eddie Pappoe has been sanctioned by the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) to be one of three judges to score the IBO Lightweight world title fight between Ghana’s Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe and Fernando David Saucedo of Argentina in Accra on November 25.

Pappoe, a renowned WBC/IBF/IBO judge replaces Michael Alexander of the UK whose passport has less than six months to expire. The document replacement and travel arrangements including visa acquisition will delay his journey to Ghana.
