Ronald Hearns Makes It Sixteen Out Of Sixteen With First Round TKO Over Robert Kamya

ronald hearnsby James Slater: Ronald Hearns, son of legendary “Hitman,” Tommy Hearns, made it 16-0 as a pro tonight. Fighting Uganda’s Robert Kamya on the under-card of the Taylor-Pavlik fight, the twenty-eight year old “Motor City Cobra” decked his man with a right hand his famous dad would have been happy with. With just over a minute left in the round, Ronald cracked Kamya as he was along the ropes and down he went. The punch landed perfectly and the thirty-four year old did very well to get back up. The brave Ugandan did so, however, but the action didn’t last much longer. Like his father before him, Ronald knows how to finish a man when he’s hurt.

Kamya tried to fight back and did manage to catch the advancing Hearns with a right hand and a grazing left, before a big left from the unbeaten prospect flattened him again. This time, though Kamya again bravely beat the count, the fight was stopped. Ronald scored his thirteenth KO and looked good doing it.

Indeed, though many would like to see him step up in class, the young “Motor City Cobra” is looking more and more like one of boxing’s most exciting future stars. He has fast hands, an incredible reach, sharp reflexes and stunning power. Sound familiar? He has a long way to go yet, but it just may be that Ronald becomes a world champion in his own right some day, thus joining his father. He’s already getting more than enough popularity and will be sure to get his chance whenever he feels the need to go for it.

The middleweight (or perhaps even light-middleweight, as Ronald says he may move down) division may have a new dominant force named Hearns in the future. Yes sir, judging by the punching talent he displayed tonight, the new Motor City Cobra may be more appropriately nicknamed as the new Hitman!
