Deontay Wilder: Arreola’s afraid of me; he’s already running

Chris Arreola vs Seth MitchellUnbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) can already smell fear coming from Chris Arreola (36-3, 31 KO’s) now that he’s in a position where Golden Boy Promotions is trying to match him up against him. Arreola destroyed Seth Mitchell (26-2-1, 19 KO’s) in a 1st round TKO in Indio, California.

Deontay saw the fight he’s licking his chops at getting Arreola in the ring to face him, and he’s hoping Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions will be able to get Arreola to accept the fight.

Oscar sent out a twitter message to Showtime to see what they thought of the idea of Arreola and Deontay mixing it up. There’s no question they’ll go for the idea, especially after the God awful mismatch they televised tonight between Arreola and Mitchell.

Ricky Burns – Ray Beltran ends in draw

In what amounts to be the robbery of the century, WBO Lightweight champion Ricky Burns (36-2-1, 11 KO’s) was awarded a 12 round draw against Raymundo Beltran (28-6-1, 17 KO’s) at the Scottish Exhibition Centre, in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. The judges scored were 115-112 for Burns, 115-113 for Beltran and 114-114 even.

It was a total robbery for sure, as Beltran clearly deserved the win. Burns held all night long, and the referee didn’t life a finger to stop it. Why the referee allowed Burns to get away with nonstop holding in every of the fight is the big question.

I don’t know how on earth a judge could actually give Burns the victory in this fight of even a draw, yet that’s exactly what happened. I had a feeling this was going to happen, and I know it was going to make Burns look bad as heck. Getting a gift draw only makes Burns looks bad, especially given all the holding that he was allowed to get away with.

Arreola obliterates Mitchell in 1st round TKO

arreola555In a disappointing Showtime card filled with terrible mismatches, heavyweight Chris Arreola (36-3, 31 KO’s) totally obliterated Seth Mitchell (26-2-1, 19 KO’s) in the 1st round tonight at the Fantasy Springs Casino, in Indio, California, USA.

Arreola dropped the weak-chinned Mitchell twice in the 1st round. The fight, if you want to call it that, was then halted after Arreola hit Mitchell with a series of right hands that sent him running towards the ropes for safety behind the referee. Looked almost comical how Mitchell ended up behind the referee.

The first knockdown game from a right hand to the head that put Mitchell on the canvas. Mitchell got up, but his legs were totally gone and it was clear he wasn’t going to make it out of the round unless he held. Unfortunately for Mitchell, he didn’t choose to hold onto Arreola, and moments latter Mitchell was knocked down again after getting hit with several hard right hands to the head.

In round four, Beltran rocked Burns with a perfect left hook. Beltran continued to press Burns against the ropes where Burns started to look uncomfortable.

Canelo weighs in at 157.4 lbs; 5.4 pounds over the 152 lb. limit

A painfully thin WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) weighed in on Friday in the WBC mandated 7-day weigh-in for his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44, 26 KO’s) on September 14th, and not surprisingly Canelo is still over the catch-weight limit of 152 pounds.

Burns vs. Beltran: Fight Day Predictions

beltran223Scotland’s two-weight world champion Ricky Burns (36-2) returns to the ring tonight to face the tough Mexican native Raymundo Beltran (28-6). Why do so many boxers lose their fortunes?

Boxing is a gruelling, demanding sport that requires an unmeasurable amount of discipline and dedication, arguably more than any other professional game.

For many boxers trying to carve a living out of fighting, the rewards will not often measure to the perspiration and blood sacrificed.
