Indeed, most people think Floyd Mayweather will out-point Canelo Alvarez, that Lucas Matthysse will have too much power for Danny Garcia and that there will, by and large, be no shocks inside a buzzing MGM Grand.

Still, as great a night as September 14th promises to be, it would be amiss not to write a pre-fight predictions piece – and there is the intriguing undercard action to look at (arguably the two toughest bouts to call being Ishe Smith-Carlos Molina and Ashley Theophane-Pablo Cano).

FLOYD MAYWEATHER will promote a British fight card this year as a thank you to his fans.

‘Money’ Mayweather plans to stage a show that will be headlined by Londoner Ashley Theophane.

The world’s number one boxer made his revelation ahead of Saturday’s megamatch against WBA Super and WBC light-middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas that is being televised live and exclusive in the UK on BoxNation (Sky Ch. 437/Virgin Ch. 546).

Fight week for The One is finally here!

2013 has been a really good year for boxing. The boxing world has seen Fight of the Year candidates, upsets and stellar performances. Although the year has about only one quarter left, fight fans have much to look forward to. Typically the icing on the cake, the cherry on top, the best for last…whatever you’d like to call it…comes towards the end. As fight fans and enthusiasts, we don’t have to wait until the end of the year. The must-see show of the year is happening in less than a week: The One.

Earlier this Tuesday, the MGM Grand’s lobby was packed with fans and the media to commence the week’s festivities for the year’s biggest boxing event. All of the fighters from the televised Showtime PPV event made their grand welcoming in front of screaming and passionate fans.

Alex Ariza Working With Team Rios to Help Prepare Against Pacquiao?

Spreading like a spider web, the fresh rumor of Alex Ariza now working with camp Rios is now gaining serious ground. While this information has not yet been officially confirmed, I would not be surprised if it turned out to be so.

Ariza is undoubtedly a fully qualified strength coach for the professional echelon of athletes, and has been in the game for a respectable amount of time. His biggest client on his resume thus far is his former boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao. I think that it would be difficult not to attribute Pacquiao’s success in part to Alex Ariza, and his involvement in helping Manny gain weight and keep the rest of his much needed attributes.

It seemed as though Pacquiao liked Ariza, and had never spoken of Ariza in a negative way. Pacquiao’s head coach Freddie Roach had a very turbulent relationship with Ariza and his decisions, and towards the end of Ariza’s employment with camp Pacquiao, Roach and Ariza were constantly butting heads and badmouthing each other to the media.

Andre Ward picks Mayweather to beat Canelo

ward23 WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward doesn’t see any way for the WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) to beat Floyd Mayweather Jr/. (44-0, 26 KO’s) this Saturday night other than maybe getting lucky by landing a big shot that knocks out Mayweather. Ward doesn’t think that there’s any possibility that Canelo can out-box the much faster and much better skilled Mayweather Jr. over 12 rounds.

Ward also thinks that the weight that the 170+ Canelo will be taking off to get down to the 152 lb. catch-weight could lead to Canelo running out of gas in the later rounds of the fight.

Canelo vs. Mayweather: Fight fans can’t “weight” until “Friday the 13th”

floyd#1 This past Friday, September 6th, current WBA/WBC Junior Middleweight Champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez participated in the WBC’s mandatory seven day, pre-fight weigh in and surprised the scrutinizing boxing media by scaling in at an impressive 157.4 pounds.

With only 5.4 pounds left to drop before the big Friday the 13th weigh-in ceremony, which is slated to be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, at 3PM PST, most speculating fight scribes believe that Canelo will have very little trouble making the negotiated catch weight of 152 pounds.

Former Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight contender “Iceman” John Scully insists that Canelo’s road to the scale will be anything but easy.

“The week of the fight will be misery for Canelo,” claims the prolific fight trainer. “I’m talking misery. He is going to experience one of the most miserable weeks of his life…that’s a guarantee.

“Steamin” Josh Beeman defeated Carlos “The Dragon” Candelario, Jr. by a majority decision in their four round light welterweight fight by two scorecards of 38-37 and one scorecard of 38-38. This fight was a tale of two halves with Candelario, Jr. dominating the first two rounds, attacking the body well, backing up Beeman and Beeman having trouble landing his punches.
