Video: All Access Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 Full Episode #1

Showtime will be televising the first episode of the ALL ACCESS: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 episodes at 9:30 pm ET/PT on Sho. The episode will chronicle the buildup to the Mayweather-Maidana 2 rematch on 9/13 on Showtime pay-per-view. Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) and Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) will be seen preparing for their all-important “Mayhem” rematch from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Despite the closeness of their previous fight, few boxing fans are giving Maidana much of a chance of beating Mayweather in the rematch. The belief is that Mayweather intentionally dumbed down his game last May to give Maidana a handicap to make it interesting for boxing fans to watch it. It’s like a great chess player handicapping himself against a novice to let the game go longer rather winning the match in the least amount of moves.

Maidana and Mayweather will be seen tonight on All Access getting ready for their fight. Maidana is trained by Robert Garcia, who believes that Maidana can win this fight if he’s able to throw nonstop punches for 3 minutes of every round.

Pacquiao vs. Algieri: SF Scoop

Pacquiao vs. Algieri: SF Scoop

Yesterday, the AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants welcomed team Pacquiao and team Algieri for their the press conference. Both teams were in good spirits, and while neither Pacquiao nor Algieri had anything crowd thrilling to say, there was enough appealing information to make the event worth attending.

Of course the question of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather came up numerous times as expected, but the response from Pacquiao was as default expected. Manny said that he is willing to fight Floyd whenever, and that any great fighter needs to fight other great fighters. Algieri grabbed the microphone and defended Pacquiao, suggesting that fights do not get signed and opponents don’t get picked as easy as the media believes it to be. Chris stated that fighters don’t just get to pick their rivals and fight them, instead claiming that there is a lot more that goes into this process.

Marco Huck vs. Mirko Larghetti tonight in Germany

Marco Huck vs. Mirko Larghetti tonight in Germany

WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (37-2-1, 26 KOs) will be looking to tie former WBO cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson’s record for the most title defenses at 13 tonight in Huck’s fight against #12 WBO Mirko Larghetti (21-0, 13 KOs) at the Gerry Weber Stadium, Halle, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.

Huck, 29, is virtually guaranteed to tie and eventually break the record because Larghetti is someone who is so far out of his league in this fight that it’s hardly even worth mentioning. Huck is clearly going to win this fight unless he suffers some kind of injury.

Matt Korobov signs for Quillin fight

Matt Korobov signs for Quillin fight

#1 IBF Matt Korobov (24-0, 14 KOs) has reportedly inked part of the contract for a title shot against WBO 160 pound champ Peter Quillin (31-0, 22 KOs), according to RingTV. Korobov, 31, signed the contract last Friday.

Korobov is now waiting for the 31-year-old Quillin to sign his part of the contract so the fight can move ahead. The target date for the fight is on November 1st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Korobov has his flaws in terms of his stamina, but he’s arguably a lot better than the guys that Quillin has been feasting on since he won the WBO title against Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam by beating him by a 12 round decision. Since then, Quillin has been a disappointment to some boxing fans for his choice of opposition.

Roach: Mayweather is shot, but we want Pacquiao to fight him

Roach: Mayweather is shot, but we want Pacquiao to fight him

At Thursday’s media day with Manny Pacquiao at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California, trainer Freddie Roach continued with his mantra that WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr is a shot fighter due to Roach believing that he can’t move around the ring like he used to.

The interesting thing is Roach still wants Pacquiao to fight Mayweather even though Roach sees Mayweather as being shot. If Roach thinks Mayweather is shot, then why does he want Pacquiao to fight him?

“We’ll [Pacquiao] fight Mayweather at whatever weight he wants to fight at,” Roach said via Fightnews at the San Francisco Giants media day. “He’s [Mayweather] shot. He’s done. His legs are gone based on his last two fights. He says he doesn’t move in order to make it more exciting for the fans. Bull [expletive].”

Bob Arum on Mayweather Jr. vs. Pacquiao: “All signs seem to point to the fight happening early next year”

Bob Arum on Mayweather Jr. vs. Pacquiao: “All signs seem to point to the fight happening early next year"

While the majority of the boxing community has never accepted the idea that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will ever face Manny Pacquiao, some people held on to their belief and their undying hope. I happen to be one of those people, but not because of hope, instead I am convinced that money has a hold on everyone, including both Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao.

Like it or not, but this fight is already in the bank, and always has been if you ask me. This is a guaranteed paycheck, no matter when they decide to cash it. Be it tomorrow, or in 5 years, the fight would sell out the same.

Johnny Nelson: I could still beat 'plastic' champion Huck

Tomorrow night in Halle, Germany WBO World Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck (37-2-1, 26 KOs) will attempt to equal Johnny Nelson’s record for the most title defences in the cruiserweight division when he faces Mirko Larghetti (21-0, 13 KOs) at the Gerry Weber Stadium.

As Huck threatens to match Nelson’s record of thirteen successful defences, ‘’The Entertainer’’ has exclusively revealed that he would consider a sensational return to the ring to face the ”plastic” champion and reclaim his WBO title.

‘’There are only a handful of world champions who can truly be considered the best in the world and in my opinion Marco Huck is not one of them,’’ said Nelson. ‘’No disrespect to the kid but to get people to sit up, pay attention and consider him the best, he needs to fight outside of Germany, away from his home comforts.

Marcos Maidana Interview Transcript

Marcos Maidana Interview Transcript

Marcos Maidana

Good afternoon to everybody. I’m training hard and I’m ready for September 13th.

Q

Do you agree or disagree that the only way to beat Mayweather is probably by knockout?

M. Maidana

No. I don’t agree with that statement. I think that I can win by decision or by knockout. The first fight was a very close fight. It was a decision that was a majority decision, so I feel that I just have to make a few adjustments, put a little more pressure on, land better punches, and yes I can win, I can win by decision. But obviously the knockout would be nice, and that’s a possibility as well.
