After their memorable battle in Germany in October, light-heavyweight contenders Ryno Liebenberg and Enrico Koelling will engage in a much-awaited rematch at South Africa’s Emperors Palace Casino on February 4.

After their memorable battle in Germany in October, light-heavyweight contenders Ryno Liebenberg and Enrico Koelling will engage in a much-awaited rematch at South Africa’s Emperors Palace Casino on February 4.

Confirming the news on Thursday, Golden Gloves boss Rodney Berman and Kalle Sauerland of Team Sauerland said that agreed terms included Koelling travelling to Liebenberg’s back yard to prove the first result was no fluke.

Koelling (22-1, 6 KOs) won a split decision that infuriated the South Africans’ camp, who vowed revenge in the event of a rematch.

Ruslan Provodnikov promised to put on a show and he didn’t disappoint as he overwhelmed unbeaten Jesus Alvarez Rodriguez in four rounds at the glitzy Salle Des Etoiles in Monte Carlo on Saturday night. With HRH Prince Albert looking on, the former WBO junior-welterweight champion wasn’t unduly stretched as he hit his stride early and pounded away until the finish of their scheduled 10-round welterweight clash. The Russian was the aggressor and although his Mexican opponent had some success counter-punching, he didn’t have the strength to hold off Provodnikov.

Crowd-pleasing former world junior-welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov of Russia will fight unbeaten Jesus Alvarez Rodriguez of Mexico in the headliner of the “Night of Champions” tournament  in Monte Carlo on November 7.

This bout replaces the WBA championship fight between Juergen Braehmer and Tommy Oosthuizen after the German sustained a hand injury in training. Frantic efforts to secure a highly-rated replacement for Oosthuizen were unsuccessful, although promoter Rodney Berman was delighted to get Provodnikov’s signature.
