Chisora to Launch Comeback Under Sauerland

After splitting from long-time promoter, Frank Warren, former heavyweight world title challenger, Dereck Chisora (22-5, 14ko), is to make his debut under German promotional stalwarts, Sauerland on Dec.5 in Hamburg.

The soon-to-be 32 year-old Chisora, last boxed in September, grinding out a forgettable points win over Brazilian journeyman, Marcelo Luis Nascimento, a fight that brought about the split from Warren and the hook-up with his new handlers, though given he also no longer fights under long-time trainer Don Charles, many are left questioning the level of desire the former EBU champion has left and what threat – if any – he poses to those at the top of the division.

Klitschko: ‘There Will Be a Rematch’

Former WBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, has confirmed that he intends to activate his rematch clause with Tyson Fury, and attempt to win back the titles taken by the Brit in style last night in Dusseldorf.

Despite Fury being a mandatory challenger, a rematch clause [unusually] existed in the contract, and the 39 year old former champion says he plans to exercise it, though gave Fury his due credit for the win, admitting the 6’9″ star was extremely quick for his size.

Matchroom Boxing boss, Eddie Hearn, has sent his congratulations to Tyson Fury on his fantastic world heavyweight title win over Wladimir Klitschko, though warned he feels his fighter, London 2012 Olympic gold medalist, Anthony Joshua, is the man who will end up with the belts in due course.

It’s likely that a rematch clause in last night’s fight contract will be activated and Fury will face Klitschko again in the spring, a fight Hearn sees Fury winning by KO, leading onto an eventual massive money all-UK showdown for Joshua with the new champion as he continues to build his star.

After 18 successful title defenses Wladimir surprisingly lost number 19 against mandatory challenger Tyson Fury. It is the 4th loss in his 68th professional career fight. Over 12 rounds the Britain earned his place as the new IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion and WBA/WBO Superchampion. Wladimir was never able to find the right strategy to harm the agile Fury.

James DeGale: “I’m ready for the best in the world”

James DeGale defended his IBF Super Middleweight World Championship in a thriller over hometown favorite and former champion Lucian Bute on Saturday in the main event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING.

It was the first title defense for DeGale, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist from Britain who went on the road to Boston to win the title earlier this year and chose to defend in hostile territory.

Charlo, Lubin and Spence Score Impressive Wins On NBC

Super welterweight world champion Jermall “Hitman” Charlo (23-0, 18 KOs) stopped “Silky” Wilky Campfort (21-2, 12 KOs) in the fourth-round to retain his title Saturday afternoon on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC from The Bomb Factory in Dallas.

Charlo used his height and jab to control the fight and keep the tenacious Campfort from getting inside and causing any damage to the defending champion. In the second round, Charlo landed a two-punch combo that ended with a right cross to send Campfort to the canvas.

DeGale beats Bute by controversial decision

IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (22-1, 14 KOs) retained his IBF title tonight with a less than thrilling 12 round unanimous decision win over 35-year-old Lucian Bute (35-3, 25 KOs) from the Vidéotron Centre in Quebec City, in Quebec, Canada. Bute, 35, had the crowd on his side the entire fight, and they did a good job of motivating him during the championship rounds.

‘Fury Must Get Up Close and Rough Klitschko Up’ says Carl Froch

Former super-middleweight world champion and ‘Sky Boxing’ analyst, Carl Froch, believes Tyson Fury’s best chance of beating Wladimir Klitschko tonight in Dusseldorf is to get close and really try to ‘put it on’ the dominant champion.

Froch – in Germany to cover the fight for the British broadcasting giant – has poured cold water on the notion that Fury should try to get on his bike and box at range, claiming the impeccable distance and timing of Klitschko will mean he inevitably walks onto that one, big, fight-ending shot.
