After 18 successful title defenses Wladimir surprisingly lost number 19 against mandatory challenger Tyson Fury. It is the 4th loss in his 68th professional career fight. Over 12 rounds the Britain earned his place as the new IBF/IBO World Heavyweight Champion and WBA/WBO Superchampion. Wladimir was never able to find the right strategy to harm the agile Fury.
At the post fight press conference Tyson Fury presented himself as a fair winner: “First I want to say congratulations to Wladimir and his team. They put up a really good fight. But tonight just was not his night. It was my night.” Furthermore he let the 150 journalists know: „If I could be half as good as Champion as Wladimir Klitschko, I would be very very happy.”

After the 4th loss of his professional career Wladimir seemed to be quite calm: „Of course I am disappointed. It did not turn out as I wanted it to. Congratulations to Tyson Fury. He earned it.” According the course of the fight he added: „I felt good in the first half. After that I could not find the right distance and feeling to land the right punches. Fury was very fast.”
