DeMarkus Jones- Just who is Money Mayweather? Is he TBE? Is he boxing’s G.O.A.T? A boring fighter who hugs and runs? A dirty boxer who uses his elbows? A cowardly cherrypicker? Or is he the best boxer of this era? Let’s attempt to break down the boxer to see if we can answer this question.

If you could use one word to describe Floyd Mayweather Jr. it would be: Successful. No boxer in the history of the sport has had more success than the leader of the Money Team. From his promotional company to his undefeated record, the Welterweight has sustained millions upon millions of dollars and cross over appeal.

Miguel Cotto thrashes game but outclassed Kamegai, now wants winner of GGG-Canelo

Though it flew far lower under the radar than any fight involving the great Miguel Cotto should have done – overshadowed as it was by the Las Vegas extravaganza that was the surprisingly competitive Mayweather-McGregor fight – Cotto’s fight last night, against tough Japanese warrior Yoshihiro Kamegai, was of interest to some.

Cotto, who punished Kamegai over 12 rounds to win a wide and commanding decision, proved he has something left to offer. We don’t really know how much, simply because Kamegai was so outclassed, but Cotto said post-fight that he would like one more fight, a farewell bout, before his chosen retirement date of December 31 of this year. By this time, Cotto will have turned 37 but he aims to go out with one massive bang.

Mayweather Scores a Tenth-Round TKO over McGregor

The former pound-for-pound best fighter in the world Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr. defeated two-division UFC champion Conor “Notorious” McGregor via a tenth-round technical knockout, as he unleashed a powerful barrage of hard punches that badly staggered McGregor and had him close to being knocked out, which forced referee Robert Byrd to stop this junior middleweight fight at one minute, five seconds. All three judges: Dave Moretti (87-83), Burt Clements (89-82), and Guido Cavalleri (89-81) scored the bout in favor of Mayweather, at the time of the stoppage.

Badou Jack makes light-heavyweight statement with stoppage of Cleverly, wants Adonis Stevenson next

Sweden’s Badou Jack made quite a statement last night on the big Mayweather-McGregor card in Las Vegas. Now a two-weight ruler, Jack ripped the WBA light-heavyweight title from a possibly weight drained Nathan Cleverly. Stopping a busted up Cleverly in the 5th round, Jack proved he had what it took to be able to move up from 168 (where he also held a world title).

Mayweather-McGregor: It was no joke

So much for those people who said Conor McGregor would not be able to land a single punch on Floyd Mayweather. Last night, in the most heavily hyped fight in years, MMA star McGregor did considerably more than that; catching Mayweather with uppercuts the odd left hook and a number of fast right-hand jabs.

What was widely derided, going in, as a bad joke/potential black eye/farce/disgrace proved to be none of those things. Instead, quite shockingly, what we got last night in Las Vegas was one of the most watchable, compelling and entertaining Floyd Mayweather fights is quite some time. It may be taken as an insulting claim, but last night’s fight was more exciting and was far better value for money than was the incredibly disappointing Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight.

Results: Cotto beats Kamegai

Miguel Cotto (41-5, 33 KOs), the only four-division world champion in Puerto Rico’s rich boxing history, earned his sixth world title with a unanimous decision victory against the Japanese slugger Yoshihiro “El Maestrito” Kamegai (27-4-2, 24 KOs) for the vacant WBO Junior Middleweight World Title in front of a sold-out crowd of 7,689 boxing fans at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. The judges scored the bout 119-109, 118-110, and 120-108 in favor of Cotto.

Results: Jack TKOs Cleverly; Gervonta Davis beats Fonseca

Gervonta “Tank” Davis defeated unbeaten challenger Francisco Fonseca via a controversial eighth-round knockout 39 seconds into the round.

The 22-year-old Davis (19-0, 18 KOs) landed a series of clean blows before an apparent shot to the back of the head sent Fonseca down. Referee Russell Mora gave the 10-count allowing Davis to earn his 18th stoppage win in 19 professional fights. The fight was originally scheduled to be Davis’ second defense of his IBF Junior Lightweight World Championship, but Davis failed to make weight on Friday, coming two pounds over the 130-pound limit that Fonseca (19-1-1, 13 KOs) weighed-in at.

Results: Mayweather stops McGregor, wins No.50

Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs) looked old, slow and weak tonight but he was still able to wear down and halt novice fighter Conor McGregor (0-1) in stopping him in the 10th round on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather was hitting a very tired McGregor at will in round 10, which led to referee Robert Byrd stepping in and stopping the fight.
