Results: Barthelemy – Ramirez ends in draw

Unbeaten featherweights Leduan Barthelemy (13-0-1, 7 KOs) and Eduardo Ramirez (20-0-3, 7 KOs) fought to an exciting split draw in their 10-round brawl that headlined Premier Boxing Champions TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes Tuesday night from the Cannery Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The back-and-forth battle saw Barthelemy attempt to take advantage of his length early while Ramirez fought hard to do damage on the inside. By round four, Ramirez had begun to break through Barthelemy’s defense and by the sixth round he connected with Barthelemy repeatedly with no response to score a huge round in his favor.

Tom Loeffler says GGG would fight Canelo again this December “if they wanted”

As fight fans know, it took quite a stretch of time, and much negotiating, before Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez finally met in their big fight – and most people will tell you it was Canelo, or more accurately Golden Boy, who was to blame for the fight taking so long to get signed, sealed and delivered.

The question fans have now is, will it take such a long time to get the must-see rematch sorted out? No-one was happy with the drawn verdict that was handed in after 12 engrossing rounds of action on September 16, with both warriors claiming they deserved a win. With such sheer public demand for a rematch, one that would in all likelihood be an even bigger fight than the first encounter, it seems both fighters must not look anywhere else for their next fight.

Now, say what you want about the very notion of this fight – a disgrace, a sure-fire bullseye of a black eye for the sport, a farce, a car crash in waiting – but admit this: you WOULD watch it if actually happened. Let’s not be hypocrites here, we all know we would tune in, not only to the fight itself, but to all the pre-fight fun and games masquerading as press conferences, head-to-heads, etc.

Jarrell Miller-Mariusz Wach likely for November 11 – A big test for “Big Baby?”

The upcoming card set for HBO on November 11 in Uniondale, New York that will be headlined by former WBA middleweight champ Danny Jacobs returning to action against the unbeaten Luis Arias, is set to get even bigger – quite literally.

According to a piece on RingTV.com, unbeaten heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller, AKA “Big Baby,” will face fellow big man Mariusz Wach in a fight that will be the Brooklyn man’s HBO debut. One of the best talkers, and punchers, in the game in terms of the fast-rising contenders on the scene, Miller has fans interested. Is he the real deal, or is the one-time (briefly) MMA fighter more hype than substance?

Joseph Parker WM12 Hughie Fury has “No chance” of being overturned says WBO vice-president John Duggan

The arguments over this past Saturday night’s Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury fight are still ongoing; with the Fury family being, well, furious over the 12 round majority decision that went to defending WBO heavyweight champ Parker.

As soon as the verdict was announced in Manchester, the entire Fury family, along with their supporters and their promoter, went crazy – former heavyweight king Tyson Fury especially (even climbing into the ring, apparently to confront BBB of C head Robert Smith). There were suggestions of “corruption” and of “dark forces” being at work, and Fury and his team may well launch an official protest over the decision (114-114 and 118-110 twice, for Parker).

2017: A year of good fights, bad scoring

When the time comes and fight fans look back on 2017 as a whole, chances are pretty good they will feel the year was pretty good, overall. There are still some big fights to come in a year that has already seen its share of them, so things could get even better in terms of excellent action on display here in 2017.

However, one thing that has tarnished this year’s boxing calendar, is poor scoring by a number of judges. Of the great, good or big fights that have gone down this year – Jeff Horn-Manny Pacquiao, Antonio Margarito-Carson Jones, Gennady Golovkin-Canelo Alvarez and Joseph Parker-Hughie Fury being standout examples, a number of them had one thing in common: hugely debatable, controversial score-cards.

Eddie Hearn has big plans for Danny Jacobs: November return, David Lemieux, then winner of GGG-Canelo rematch

As fight fans know, top British promoter Eddie Hearn announced over the weekend, to some surprise, how he has signed up middleweight contender Danny Jacobs. Jacobs, 32-2(29) will now make his ring return on November 14, when he will face Luis Arias, 18-0(9) in Uniondale, New York.

And Hearn, who said whilst talking with K.O Artist Sports that Jacobs has a genuine superstar quality about him, has big plans for the former WBA champ who pushed Gennady Golovkin so close back in March (Hearn told K.O Artist Sports he had Jacobs winning the fight by a round).

After a brief reign, Badou Jack vacates WBA light-heavy title; Dmitry Bivol-Trent Broadhurst to fight for it on Nov. 4

Just over a month after winning it with an impressive stoppage win over Nathan Cleverly on the huge Floyd Mayweather Conor McGregor card in Las Vegas, Badou Jack has vacated his WBA light-heavyweight title. But already, as per a report on RingTV.com, a fight has been made to see who picks up not only Jack’s version of the belt, but also the recently retired Andre Ward’s Super version of the WBA crown.
