Dillian Whyte talks Joshua rematch: Fight him again and it will be a different story

Dillian Whyte keeps talking about Anthony Joshua and about that which he is convinced would happen if he got the opportunity to fight AJ again (Whyte having lost via 7th round KO in a thrilling fight back in December of 2015). But Whyte says he is happy that Joshua is still talking about him, too.

Speaking with Sky Sports ahead of his US debut next Saturday on the Terence Crawford-Julius Indongo bill, “The Body Snatcher” said that Joshua “talks rubbish” and is not the tough guy he makes out he is whenever he is around. Whyte, chasing a world title, which he hopes will lead him to a return shot at AJ (who will next defend his IBF belt against Kubrat Pulev, and after that his WBA belt against Luis Ortiz; this the most likely scenario anyway) is sure he will get revenge if the second fight happens.

Carl Froch says it would be “dangerous” to come back: I'm hearing whispers I might be a Hall of Famer one day

Is former super-middleweight king Carl Froch worthy of going into The Hall of Fame? “The Cobra,” now aged 40, his reputation, his health and his wealth as intact as his recently surgically repaired nose, told BBC Sport that he has “heard whispers that I might be a Hall of Famer one day.”

The British legend again confirmed how he will not be coming back, that he has “been out too long,” and that he would find it “dangerous” to attempt to boil back down to 168 pounds. Froch, who went out on a high with his crushing of vocal rival George Groves, who he knocked flat in a return fight in front of a then record crowd at Wembley in May of 2014, says he currently weighs around 14st (196 pounds) and that he is content where he is, on the safe side of the ropes.

Dillian Whyte defends Malcolm Tann's credentials as his next opponent; eyes two more fights this year

Dillian Whyte has defended the credentials of his upcoming opponent Malcolm Tann, who “The Body Snatcher” will fight, in his US debut, on the big Terence Crawford-Julius Indongo card on August 19. Though Tann has had just two fights in the last nine years, one win and one loss, Whyte says his 6’6” foe will provide him with added experience as far as fighting big guys goes.

Whyte, in speaking with Sky Sports, also made clear his intentions of keeping himself active from now on; with two more fights planned for after the Tann bout.

David Price to give it one more go, the heavyweight assembles new team ahead of September return

David Price refuses to give in. The former Olympian and former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champ has been written off more times than he cares to remember, yet he is set to give it one final push next month.

According to a news piece in The Liverpool Echo, the 34 year old one-time “sure thing” has parted with trainer Dave Coldwell – the man who attempted to pick up the pieces and salvage Price’s career after his stoppage loss to Erkan Teper – and is now working with George Vaughan, along with former champ Derry Matthews and Joe McNally. Price, 21-4(18) will face a TBA on the September 16 card at The Echo Arena in Liverpool topped by Callum Smith against Erik Skoglund in The WBSS 168 pound tournament.

Dillian Whyte now set to face Malcolm Tann on Crawford-Indongo bill

British heavyweight Dillian Whte was all set to face veteran former contender Michael Grant in his US debut set for August 19 on the under-card of the big 140 pound unification showdown between Terence Crawford and Julius indongo. But that terrible match-up was scratched because, well, it was terrible – Grant being largely inactive and not having won a meaningful fight in years.

Bellew-Haye II “Virtually Dead” says Hearn

Bellew-Haye II “Virtually Dead” says Hearn

Those fight fans who want, and have wanted since March, to see bitter British rivals Tony Bellew and David Haye fight a rematch will likely be disappointed. Though the two heavyweights engaged in talks after the March fight, won by Bellew in an upset, they have come to nothing; much to the chagrin of promoter Eddie Hearn.

Bellew, who stopped Haye late – this after the big favourite had severely damaged his Achilles, reduced as he was to basically a one-legged fighter – reportedly demanded the lion’s share of the purse going into a return, and Haye has not been forthcoming. This is one way to look at the collapse of the fight anyway.

Smith Ready To Fulfill Childhood Dream Of Hometown Glory

On the day that tickets for the opening World Boxing Super Series Super-Middleweight quarter-final between Callum Smith (22-0, 17 KOs) and Erik Skoglund (26-0, 12 KOs) go on sale, the Liverpool fighter spoke of how long-term ambition has brought him to the edge of greatness.

“I am really happy to be headlining at the Echo Arena,” said Smith. “When I turned professional, and even when I was a kid, the plan was to go as far as I could and to hopefully one-day headline shows. Especially in my home city and I have been lucky enough to do that before in my career but this time, opening the Super-Middleweight part of the World Boxing Super Series, it is an honour and I am really looking forward to it.”
