Arum: 'Waiting on Pacquiao' / Wants Crawford Over Khan

Top Rank CEO, Bob Arum, has stated he is hopeful that Manny Pacquiao will select fellow Top Rank star, Terence Crawford as the opponent for the Filipino’s career swansong in April 2016, rather than Britain’s Amir Khan.

Both Crawford and Khan are said to still be in the frame, as Arum says the decision is solely Pacquiao’s to make, though when you consider the obvious financial benefits to the TR boss of making an in-house fight with Crawford over one with Khan – who is advised by Al Haymon and has his own promotional company – it’s pretty clear to see who is most likely getting the call.

A Lesson of Hype & Humility: GGG, Rousey, & Pacquiao

A Lesson of Hype & Humility: GGG, Rousey, & Pacquiao

(A very candid Editorial by resident boxing scribe Vivek “Vito” Wallace)

There’s been a lot of talk about the perceived negativity aimed towards Ronda Rousey in light of her recent loss. In an effort to provide some level of clarity, I’d like to examine this topic a bit closer. Ronda is a very solid fighter with a great story. But what some need to realize is that there are fans who literally hate to see the media pick and choose who it wants to build up and who it wants to tear down. The word “hate” is probably a bit strong, but under the circumstances, most would agree necessary.

4 Names in Frame for Final Pacquiao Fight

4 Names in Frame for Final Pacquiao Fight

Manny Pacquiao has revealed FOUR potential names are in the frame for his scheduled final hurrah on Apr. 9 2016, though Floyd Mayweather is not among them.

A growing belief exists that Pacquiao could rematch Mayweather in the new MGM, Las Vegas Arena, which has a projected opening date of April 2016, although given the Filipino’s latest comments and Mayweather’s assertions he remains retired, a mega-money rematch seems unlikely at the moment, and would admittedly be a tough sell after their disappointing first fight back in May.

No Pacquiao/Khan for April ’16, Despite Online Rumours says Arum

No Pacquiao/Khan for April '16, Despite Online Rumours says Arum

Poor old Jeff Powell at England’s ‘Daily Mail’ newspaper. The notoriously ‘creative’ boxing scribe is being hammered online by American press in particular, for what is his latest misleading story, published Tuesday, that said Britain’s Amir Khan had signed to face Manny Pacquiao for the Filipino’s final hurrah on April 9th.

Numerous notable writers, perhaps spearheaded by Yahoo! Sports, Kevin Iole, have taken to slamming Powell’s ‘exclusive,’ that follows on from previous journalistic gems as Khan having signed a Mayweather fight, as well as another story from a couple of years ago that at 48, former great Lennox Lewis, was returning to face the Klitschko’s in a ‘super-fight.’

Manny Pacquiao claims ongoing negotiations for Mayweather Jr. rematch

In recent news, various sources suggested that Manny Pacquiao will be retiring after one more final fight. Next year, likely in the month of April, right around the time when the brand new gigantic MGM AEG arena will open its doors in Las Vegas, Nevada, Pacman is looking to close the doors to his career. The finality is always as important as the entrance, and leaving the sport of boxing with a bang is something that can certainly elevate a champions stock in history.

One Last Dance for Manny Pacquiao

One Last Dance for Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao’s veteran promoter, Bob Arum, has confirmed that the Filipino superstar will fight one last time in April before calling time on his long and illustrious career.

Pacquiao was last seen in May’s disappointing mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather, a fight that will always be overshadowed by his decision to enter the bout carrying a shoulder injury – an injury that later required surgery and ruled him out of fighting for the rest of this year.

While Pacquiao’s possible impending retirement is a hot topic in boxing, his next opponent is also of much interest. Since it is assumed that Pacquiao doesn’t have much time left in the sport of boxing, although it is hard to say when he will actually hang em’ up, boxing fans are hopeful for a few good fights.

In a recent interview Manny threw a bit of a curve-ball, mentioning that camp Pacquiao is not only talking to camp Khan about a possible bout, but is also apparently negotiating with recently retired Mayweather Jr.

Manny Pacquiao Ready to Call It a Day?

Whomever ends up in the opposite corner if/when he eventually returns from injury next year, Filipino superstar and multi-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao has given the clearest indication yet that he is ready to call time on his epic 20 year professional boxing career.

Pacquiao, who turns 37 in December, has been recovering from the shoulder surgery he underwent in the wake of May’s disappointing fight with Floyd Mayweather, and is set to return in the first part of next year according to promoter Bob Arum, before re-emerging himself in his burgeoning political career in his native land.
