Renold Quinlan unhappy, says he may walk on Eubank Jnr fight

It seems the scheduled return to boxing for terrestrial channel ITV has been bugged by problems – what with fans balking at the idea of having to pay for the first planned ITV pay show, between Chris Eubank Jnr and the little-known Renold Quinlan in a fight that will contest the lightly regarded IBO super-middleweight title.

As critics have already pointed out, the show, scheduled for February 4, has no announced under-card and the main event does not seem worthy of carrying a payment fee (with rumours saying this fee could be as high as £20). But now, to make matters even worse, Quinlan says he may pull out of the fight due to what he says is a distinct lack of exposure and media attention.

Chris Eubank Junior: “I don't need a trainer to push me or tell me what to do”

Chris Eubank Junior seems to be about the most stubborn and hard-headed fighter you could care to mention today. He may also be the most arrogant. Ahead of his February fight with little known Renold Quinlan for the equally little known (and little regarded) IBO super-middleweight belt, the former British middleweight champ who will be moving up eight pounds, claims he doesn’t even need a trainer.

Chris Eubank Snr. – A distraction or a diversion?

Chris Eubank Snr. - A distraction or a diversion?

There is little argument that Chris Eubank Jr has the potential to be a world level fighter. There is however, countless column inches about the nature of the involvement of his father and the effect it will have on his career.

The question is this: Are Chris Eubank’s actions a carefully considered ploy to draw attention and pressure away from his son, or are they the actions of a man hungry for the limelight with a desperate need to rekindle public interest in himself?

Slightly older British fight fans will remember “The Big Fight Live.” Back in the day, in the 1980s and ’90s, with the great Reg Gutteridge doing the commentary, the show, going out on terrestrial channel ITV, was THE place to watch the big fights. Now, according to an interesting piece on the ITV website, the boxing show will return to TV screens next year – on pay-per-view.

Chris Eubank Junior: From the GGG fight, to the Langford fight, to no fight!

What a perplexing figure former British middleweight champion Chris Eubank Junior really is. The vocal, seemingly cocksure fighter has, in the past month or so: gone from being on the verge of challenging world middleweight ruler Gennady Golovkin in a £million pound fight (and beating him, according to Eubank Jr and Senior) to being set to defend his British title against the far less known Tommy Langford for a far less substantial payday, to vacating the British title and now having no next fight in sight, at all.

Anger over Chris Eubank Junior's “shameful” tweet!

Reigning British middleweight champ Chris Eubank Junior has caused outrage with a tweet he put out regarding Saturday’s Gennady Golovkin-Kell Brook fight; or rather the ending to the bout. As fans know, Brook’s trainer and corner-man Dominic Ingle threw in the towel as his fighter, who had sustained a broken eye socket, was taking heavy punishment in round-five.

Eubank, who has again called out GGG (this despite not signing the contract for the September fight in time, thus Brook got the shot instead) couldn’t resist having a go at Brook and his team:

It was officially confirmed midweek that Tommy Langford will be challenging for the British Middleweight Title against the defending champion Chris Eubank Jr in Cardiff on October 22nd at the Motorpoint Arena.

It is by far Tommy’s toughest fight to date as he takes on a guy who continues to prove he is worthy of his Legendary name with explosive victories in recent times, and not forgetting it could of easily been Chris Eubank Jr vs Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin not so long ago.

Eubank Junior insists rematch with “boring” Billy Joe Saunders has to be a 50-50 purse split

Eubank Junior insists rematch with “boring” Billy Joe Saunders has to be a 50-50 purse split

Chris Eubank Junior insists that the “bad blood” between he and the only man to have beaten him as a pro, Billy Joe Saunders, ensures the two will fight again. But the reigning British champion says there is no way he will ever accept the 80-20 purse split WBO middleweight champ Saunders offered to his father in a recent spat on social media. Though Eubank Jr lost the 12-round decision in November of 2014 he maintains he did not “really” lose the fight and that the rematch will happen because he is a draw while Saunders is a “boring fighter.”

Eubank Jr says he is “not greedy” and will happily take the return if a 50-50 agreement can be reached.
