Fingers crossed Deontay Wilder will indeed defend his WBC belt against Luis Ortiz next. The fight, tentatively pencilled in for November 4 in New York with Showtime to televise, has – or had – one big stumbling block: Bermane Stiverne.

Margarito says he is in the best shape of his life (the usual battle-cry of an ageing, past his best former champ) and that after he defeats Jones he wants a third fight with Miguel Cotto.

Looking back on some great KO’s in boxing; Lights Out!
This great sport has produced many thrilling, moving, shocking and even unforgettable knockouts throughout its history. And though many boxing fans tune in hoping to see other things: skill, defence, speed, overall ring generalship – there really is nothing like a sizzling KO!
Here, in looking back on some classics, these KO’s will certainly ring a bell:
Dana White says Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor pulled in an astonishing 6.5 million pay-per-view buys – worldwide
Thought the official numbers are not yet in and will possibly not arrive until next week some time, there is a suggestion that last Saturday’s monstrously hyped “Money Fight” between Floyd Mayweather Junior and Conor McGregor pulled in a staggering 6.5 million pay-per-view buys.
Saturday night will be a pretty quiet night for fighting, but there’ll be some noise in Mexico
In comparison to the huge carnival of boxing entertainment that was going down this past Saturday night, this Saturday will be a pretty quiet night for fight fans. Marciano: The only truly revered Rocky
With all due respect to Rocky Graziano, Rocky Lockridge, Roman “Rocky” Martinez, the fictitious Rocky Balboa, and all those tough triers known throughout the world as a “Real-Life Rocky,” there is in truth only one Rocky that truly and deeply matters: Rocky Marciano – “The Brockton Blockbuster;” the man who the old timers claim was simply incapable of losing a fight.
Which fight are you looking forward to the most: GGG-Canelo or Lomachenko-Rigondeaux?
The final quarter of the year will soon be here, and we boxing fans have quite a lot of good stuff to look forward to. But in the opinion of most fight fans there are two big match-ups – one set, the other still in the works but seemingly very promising in terms of being signed – that are most anticipated.
First up we have the middleweight title fight showdown between pound-for-pound operators Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez, and then, just before the Christmas holidays, we have (hopefully; the fight still to be made 100-percent official) a super-featherweight clash between arguably the two best P-F-P boxers in the world today: Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux.
“Tommy” promises to be compulsive viewing
As part of the hugely enjoyable 30 for 30 series, ESPN will, on September 13, put out a show devoted to late heavyweight puncher and former WBO champ Tommy Morrison. The trailer is available now and going by the teaser this one should be excellent.
Morrison, who sadly passed away at the age of just 44 in 2013, sure crammed a lot into his short life – and not all of it was good. A true American tragedy, Morrison – at one point in time the quintessential blue eyed, blonde haired all American kid – suffered a most rapid fall from grace.
