Mexican Corruption Destroying USA Boxing

Mexican Corruption is Destroying USA Boxing.. When you have A Corrupt Mexican Boxing Sanchioning body, A Corrupt Drug Addicted Mexican Boxing Promoter, A corrupt Mexican Judge giving the Bogus Win after Bogus wins to their Favorite Mexican Boxers you know it’s time for the USA to take a second look at our beloved Sport.. The Days of Boxing Fans respecting and appreciating the Sweet Science, the Sport where Hit and avoid getting hit ruled is replaced by who is the toughest and can take the most punches to the Face is when USA Boxing becomes just a Tijuana Cantina Tough man Contest…

Hecdog-I had the fight 115-113 for Canelo, he was the aggressor which as a boxing fan I appreciated. I paid to watch a fight of the year candidate and got a stinker. Could Canelo have did a better job cutting off the ring like you said? Maybe…but I had high regard for Lara. I saw him get robbed against Paul Williams, and he manned up and fought…he didn’t do that this time. He ran too much escpecially after his eye got busted up with that left hook. He also got dropped in the corner and they called it a slip, now 117-111 was ridiculous! But he lost man…he ran 9 out of 12 rounds. Oscar ran 3-4 rounds and lost to Trinidad remember that? And he was a STAR! Who is Lara to run for 9-10 rounds and get a decision? Have a nice day.

Posted July 16, 2014 4:41 am

Slim my friend, what do you think the outcome of the fight would have been if Lara was being promoted by GBP/Oscar? Lara in my humble opinion dominated Canelo is every facet of the sport. Canelo wasn’t athletic enough or smart enough to cut off the ring, and his punches were laughable when he missed by 3 feet. Lara won this fight with ease. If only he had GBP/Oscar in his corner.

Posted July 15, 2014 11:58 pm

SLIM my friend, the Chavez?Whitaker was RIDICULOUS! Chavez is a legend and was an outstanding fighter in his day, one of the best ever, but he was dismantled in every way possible. And as always, the big corrupt promoter (DON KING) that has influence behind doors managed to save his then cash cow an undeserving draw. That decision was pathetic and only added to how corrupt the sport of boxing is. Today, it’s all the same with different players. Mayweather Promotions, GBP, Don King and others all play the same game. Las Vegas is always at the forefront of these horrendous predictable decisions with the house fighter always winning. Throughout boxing history it’s always been the same. Norton/Ali, Whitaker/Chavez, Leonard/Hagler, Leonard Hearns #2, Canelo/Lara, Canelo/Trout, De La Hoya Sturm, Lara/Williams and so on. We paid to see two fighters use their best strategy based on scoring criteria used in boxing. Clean Punching (Lara), Ring Generalship (Lara), Defense (Lara), Effective Aggressiveness (Canelo was not effective). Canelo didn’t throw very many punches either, and the ones he threw all missed. Both fighters could have and should have been more active, but defense is part of the criteria, and Lara did it better with his feet, slipping, weaving, ducking, blocking and intelligence. If you take all this into consideration, Lara won this fight easily regardless if you like him or his style or not. This was an injustice to him and that use movement and defense.

@Hecdog…Pernell Whitaker didn’t lose against Cesar Chavez sr. it was a draw remember. Also NOBODY came to see a track meet, we wanted to see a good fight. How can they give Lara a win over the fighter who did everything to make a fight and all Lara did was duck and dodge and run. That’s not what we paid to see…

The One Main Thing that Lara proved is that Cuban Boxing School needs to stay right where it is…. In Cuba.

Oscar DelaRunner Lost to Tito

Amazing how well that works..

Yeah…Delahoya proved that he should’ve pursued a career in track & field instead of boxing.

People pay a lot of money to see what used to be called “fights” and they want to see action. Not someone running and back peddling around the ring, REFUSING to exchange.

Delahoya can call himself a boxer, but he cannot call himself “a fighter.”

Posted July 14, 2014 3:57 pm

Lara won the fight IMHO as I have mentioned a few times, but others don’t want to see it that way. I have watched the fight over several times without bias and trying to even give Canelo as Many rounds as I could to give him the benefit of the doubt and it does not work. Please turn off the volume, score the fight by the following criteria: Clean Punching (Lara), Ring Generalship (Lara), Defense (Lara) Effective Agressiveness (Canelo was not effective) The punch numbers favored Lara. Canelo landed 24 head punches in 12 rounds?? I like Canelo as I have said and think he is going to be a great fighter one day, but he lost the fight. The Canelo crowd changes how they see punches when they are cheering at every punch Canelo throws even if he misses by a mile. Those Body punches were in just 2-3 rounds and many of them were caught on the arms and were not clean. I watched in slow motion. Lara, even though he didn’t throw a million punches, didn’t need to because they were so clean and crisp. The crowd was in awe throughout the fight. They were begging for Canelo to do anything, but Lara had them all tamed like a bunch of kittens. Lara’s defense, which includes moving, slipping, blocking and weaving is CRITERIA used to score each round. It was up to Canelo to find a strategy to stop Lara from doing those things like cut off the ring , and he didn’t. Lara had total control of the fight, and Canelo was desperate. Did you not see him miss by a mile. Lara moved right and Canelo was moving left. The man was confused and just plodded forward swinging for the fences. Lara was calm. cool and collected and he was a sharp shooter landing the jab, straight left to the head and body. Lara controlled the style and pace of the fight. Clean punches from Lara, Beautiful Ring generalship from Lara, Fantastic Defense from Lara and Canelo’s inability to use his Aggressiveness effectively all point to the obvious. Lara is the winner of this fight. Unfortunately, as real boxing fans know. The Cash Cow that has the big promoter(GBP/Oscar) in his pocket will rarely if ever lose a fight when he has a country (Mexico) behind him, and his fans come to pay their money to see him. They are doing a fabulous job of promoting Canelo. He’s slowly making the crossover to the USA fans. They market him on being the Red Headed, light skinned Mexican that is the greatest young fighter in history. Promoters will go at any lengths to make a connection between the young lion and the fans, which I guess is a smart move on there part, but in a fight, his opponents must not just beat him, but practically knock him out. This fight was a mere image of Pernell Whitaker vs Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. Whitaker dominated him in every way, but still lost because he was the boxer and used movement and defense instead of just slug it out. History always repeats itself. The sport will continue to be corrupt as long as fans let them do what they want.

Gotta love all these Mexicans like (te Tumbo) now making the Case for why The Great Boriqua Tito Trinidad beat Delahoya like Canelo beat Lara who ran all night long like Delahoya.. Lara did not hurt or back up Canelo like DelaRunner vs Tito, Lara backpeddled all night long like Delahoya who Back peddled for 6 rounds and then Flat out Ran for the next 6 Rounds.. Yeap, Delahoya Clearly lost to Trinidad.. just like Lara Lost to Canelo.. Glad to see all these Mexicans especially Dumbo now see the light… Well, Lara’s Jabs did fk up Canelos Face pretty Baddly all night long while DelaRunner didn’t even give Tito a scratch.. LOL

I scored it Lara 7 – 5. On a second watch, I thought rounds 2 and 11 could have gone either way. The judge with a 6 point differential to Canelo must have cataracts.
Overall a disappointing fight due to a lack of action, mainly due to Lara’s spare style, but contributed to by Canelo’s inability to consistently get off first.
I didn’t consider ring generalship at all as I have never understood this criterion and it seems to me easily abused by judges to justify their bias. I only went by effective punching, and don’t care whether a boxer is a come forward type or an avoid the pocket type.
Lara: a very dull fight from him, his shot variety basically totaled 3: straight lefts and rights and a very occasional right hook. Because he focuses on evasion he doesn’t sit down enough to really get much power. Too old to evolve much further and I won’t go weeping to my grave if I never see him fight again. At least if you are to be a defensive fighter show variety of shots and some surprises from time to time.
Canelo: as a young man he can evolve his style, and he needs to. He seems to not know what he is. He thinks he is a technician cum walk forward counter puncher, whereas he should be more a brawler. Why walk forward and wait? For what? To be jabbed in the face, I guess. As a technician he waits and waits and gets beaten to the punch too much. He has power, he should use it in a more unrelenting manner.
Comparisons between Lara and MW are absurd. One is a defensive boxer with limited variety and a fear of the pocket. The other is a defensive master, often defending from right inside the pocket which is really the genius part of his style, and he can still exchange when he chooses. His shot variety is fantastic. There are just no points of similarity between the two, unless you look at punching power. And after this fight I’d suggest MW has more pop than Lara.
If Canelo is to become better, he needs to have better judges who don’t gift him their cards. This would force him to improve his style. That one card in the MW fight makes one laugh very loudly.

Posted July 14, 2014 4:21 am

I’ve never seen anyone who ran so far in a confined space. 117-111 win for Canelo. The 117 is for the total points scored by Canelo and the 111 for Lara’s odometer reading in miles.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (AKA Lion king), my friend. I think I am a fair judge and know full well how to Score a fight without bias. The criteria is right there for anyone to follow. Forget the crowd and leave your emotions at home and anyone can do a fairly good job. Lara won 8 rounds to 4. I have a pretty good eye for scoring.

Foritos my friend, thank God Rafael is not a judge. He can continue to write, which he is good at, but he is blind as a.judge. I am no expert by any means, but I can score a fight using the judges criteria without bias. Lara won that fight in my humble opinion.

I had it 117 – 111. Lara did not fight and when he did he threw baby punches, hell, a woman can hit much harder that Lara “The Coward”. One left by Alvarez did more damage than all of Lara’s punches put together…………Lara was running like a hell…………………he was afraid to fight…………….you have to land punches to win a fight………………….you could hear Alvarez’ body punches, but you could not hear Lara’s baby punches………..Lomachenko moved, but he also fought, he used lateral movement, the only thing Lara did was run, track & field. Lara deserved to lose, the only one fighting was Alvarez. I dare anyone to criticize Vladimir Klitschko for using his jab and knocking people out……………….

Round 7, a beautiful upper cut by Canelo rips Lara eyebrow open, blood. And he is bleeding in his mouth. Round 11 another nice right to Lara other eye reeling him back. Lara is afraid to be KO’d and runs all night. Canelo Won and the judges knew it.

Posted July 14, 2014 12:02 am

The 117-111 judge was a Mexican… That’s what somebody in the business told me anyway. For a fight like this you need to use a Brit… a Canadian… and an Aussie

Or a Ukrainian… Italian, Frenchman, German, Nigerian, whatever … No Cubans or Mexicans.

Posted July 13, 2014 11:43 pm

Canelo won on points

Canelo won the fight, close fight, Canelo won.

Posted July 13, 2014 11:35 pm

I’m not a fan of runners either, but you have to give Lara more credit. He fought a very good fight landing clean effective punches throughout the fight. Canelo’s head was bouncing all over the place. He was desperate on more than a few occasions as he swung for the fences and missed by a mile. Sure he landed some good body shots, but they were in no way enough to win him the fight. Lara faced looked like he just came out of a modeling shoot. He was rarely touched throughout the 12 rounds. The Canelo crowd while cheering for Canelo and booing Lara obviously made a big impression on those judges, especially the blind drunk one that had it 111-117 for Canelo. And of course Lara could have and should have thrown a bit more, but that was part of his defense, and defense counts in scoring a fight. It’s up to Canelo to come up with a strategy to stop Lara, and he couldn’t. Lara shouldn’t be penalized for doing what many other boxers do like Floyd Mayweather. The criteria for judging and the judges themselves have to be on the same page. You cannot have one judge liking the puncher style more than the boxing style because it’s a bias and he’s going to score it for the puncher instead of going by the criteria he has been given to score a fight with. Something has to be done. Just look at the scoring criteria: Clean Punching, Effective Aggressiveness, Ring Generalship and defense. If a judge has knowledge and understanding of this criteria, there is no way possible Canelo won that fight. And like I said, I like Canelo, and think he has a great future, but he lost last night.

You can’t really say lara should been more active. With that 111 117 scorecard he would’ve had to put Canelo on the canvas plenty of times… even if lara would’ve landed more he wasn’t going to win look at the floyd fight vs canelo. Floyd pitched a damn near shut out and only got a SD over canelo….no way lara was wining that fight on the cards I think lara won but the fix was in when he signed the fight he would’ve had to completely dominate canelo to get a SD just like floyd…. sad really

Excellent assessment of the scoring in boxing, Tark.

Posted July 13, 2014 10:35 pm

The promoters love Canelo… Young, red hair, freckles… Looks more Irish than Mexican.

Boxing never addresses the judging situation.. It’s been the same problem for over 100 years now.

In Gymnastics, Figure Skating, and Diving they use 12 judges who were former coaches and competitors.. They throw out the high and low scores and average the other 10.

That way they come up with some pretty damned good scores based on extremely strict scoring critera.

Boxing uses 3 low IQ bums who never boxed — who are friends of the promoter.

Posted July 13, 2014 10:29 pm

If Alvarez is the future of boxing, I’ll have a difficult time watching the fights anymore. What his decisions most remind me of is the corruption that entered Olympic judging (any number of sports) over 40 years ago. The 112-116, 111-117 & 114-114 scoring of the Mayweather-Alvarez fight tells it all as Mayweather won every single round of that fight.

Posted July 13, 2014 10:12 pm

Squared-Circle.., If you’re just going to assume Canelo’s punches are harder yeah — you’ll give any close fight him everytime if he’s outpunched or not.

A jab can knock out you out, as Pulev and Kovalev proved in a couple of their fights … but Lara Landed some damned hard power punches too.

But even though Lara clearly won the first 2 rounds, I wasn’t happy with the way he was fighting… You have to move Canelo back like Floyd did… At some points during the figtht you have to drive him right back on his heels… That takes some veteran attacking skills — but Lara’s had over 20 pro fights, he should have been more ready for this fight. He should have been able to do that.

Canelo learned a lot from his fight with Floyd… That was a tremendous lesson from a real master.. But to me, he’s going to get a lot better in 4 or 5 years.. He’s 24, long way to go.

I agree @ tark he saw how that mayweather decision went he should have knew better there gonna pamper golden boy fighters any way your already the under dog so regardless of what you do you have to dominate him and mix it up more canelo looked line he lost confidence you have to bring it on

Posted July 13, 2014 9:23 pm

Writer.., “In football the trick is the runner has to advance the ball. In boxing, you still have to punch to win a fight.”

And Lara DID land more and cleaner punches than Canelo… But often when he landed a great punch and COULD have followed up with a hard flurry — he chose to take off like a rocket … zooming around the ring.

When they told him to box rings around Canelo he thought they said dance rings around him.. He was too into the footwork – and not enough into following up on the good punches he was landing. You don’t land a hard straight left and step out. You drive a hard right hook or uppercut behind it. You’ve had over 20 pro fights.

Instead of 112 punches he needed to land 200. After seeing a judge come in with a draw vote for Floyd-Canelo, he should have known he needed a more comfortable margin of victory.

He asks for a rematch??? In your dreams Erislandy.. You had your chance and blew it.. If you EVER get another opportunity, you have to fight like your opponents’ parents and wife are the judges.

That’s because his jabs KO people and nobody is able to hit him. Lara’s jab didn’t KO or hurt anybody

I wonder how is vlad Still the Heavyweight champ with only jabs etc. going by u alls logic he shouldn’t be.

If it aint a borica trash bum fighter then as you all already know I usually come on these boards to take out my frustration on …you guess it, mexican fighters. I still cant believe my hero borica JuanMa lost ..again. I need a hug.

Gentlemen, the legendary Manny Pacquiao would have wiped the floor with Canelo and Lara, let’s get that straight first. Now, last night’s fight was another home cooking awful decision if you know anything about boxing. Canelo looked like a caveman swinging his club around and hitting nothing. He was off balance, had no idea how to cut off the ring. Lara was going left and Canelo was going right. This was a masterful boxing exhibition that Lara put on. His ring generalship and clean effective punches were on point. Canelo’s desperate wild flurries did nothing. He landed a few body punches, but not nearly enough to win the round. I’ve watched the replay, and once again had Lara winning 8 rounds to 4. I picked Canelo to win, but he was schooled last night and should have admitted that at the post fight press conference. If you’re a true boxing fan and score the fight without any bias, Lara wins easily. I like Canelo, he has a lot of talent and is going to be a great one, but he was schooled last night. I actually felt sorry for him as he was getting frustrated, bruised, and he literally almost broke his ankle trying to find Lara. It’s all the same in boxing. The big promoter (Oscar) and GBP, Las Vegas and those same good o’l Boy judges played just right. The 111-117 score card must have been filled out a month ago. That judge should be thrown out of the country and made to count marbles forever. Lara did an excellent job and was in control of the entire fight. His punches were clear and crisp. His defense was outstanding. He handled himself like a true intelligent. He had no chance with the home town kid. Had that fight been anywhere else but Las Vegas, guess what? Lara wins by a land slide. The numbers even favor Lara. Boxing should be embarrassed for last night’s awful decision.

Oscar beat Tito 8 rounds to 4. Clearly boxed Tito the first 8 rounds and ran the last 4

I had it 8-4 also ,posting on here as the rds ended no one disagreed with at the time, until after the verdict. 8-4 or 9to3 Lara easy fight to score.

I am glad Willie Pep ain’t fighting now.
The fans today would say he lost that 8th round in he didn’t throw a single punch.

Alvarez looked good last night against a very good technical fighter who was on his bike for the whole fight, he still managed to land and win the fight, no weight issues etc, getting down to 152.

Te tumbo you already know its happening 5/5/15. The only thing that stops that is if Floyd offers Cotto a fight he cant refuse. Canelo and Floyd are Cottos only options. If the fight doesn’t happen next year you have an argument. Right now to accuse Cotto of ducking Canelo is unreasonable. How could Cotto not pass up Canelo to go for the mw tittle.

REM, please share that pep-talk with Cotto. toss in a guaranteed $10 million for extra motivation. somehow, he doesn’t subscribe to your analysis . . . can you believe that?!?

Posted July 13, 2014 4:56 pm

Bears sorry but 1st Canelo is still in for a boxing lesson when me matches up with Cotto. Cotto has some serious advantages against Canelo. Canelo still has some problems with good footwork proven by Laras performance. Canelo still looks silly following around like a puppy insteaes. Then Cotto brings some serious hand skills to the table to go along with some silky smooth footwork better hand skills that Lara brought. Whats this myth going around Cottos ducking Canelo Cotto simply went after a much bigger prize Canelos boxing lessons coming soon dont worry. 2nd boxing is boxing….its a fight to a certain degree, but hardly full contact fighting. So in the SPORT of boxing that is based on a points system there’s nothing wrong with accumulating points and running out the clock like in all sports. Its the opponents job to prevent you from doing so. Let me remind you that this is 1st and foremost the art of self defense.

smooth re-entry for Mares. he tuned-up, scored punches, got hit, and avoided more. if the Gonzalez rematch can still be made this year, “Let’s Get It On!” the sooner the better. Mares can’t move forward without addressing that important piece of unfinished business.

i would like to see Salido v. Lopez III in SJ, PR. i think it’s highly-marketable and could turn out to be their most competitive matchup at this point of their respective careers. Lopez needs to seriously look into including an Ariza-like coach or regimen into his preparation. that might give him a fighting chance in the final fight and payday of his career. nonetheless, Salido by KO in 6.

Posted July 13, 2014 4:15 pm

da butthurt puerto rican- hey man. canelo won. put your boy cotto up next and lets hear your next series of excuses.

the fight game is about fighting first and foremost. not running. for most of boxings life there was not even round limits. in no way shape or form did boxing ever become about running and fighting as little as possible and running the clock out to a lack luster in action decision.

boxing is a fight. and has been the fight game for centuries. mma has only recently arrived.

I was happy to see the style/aesthetic i prefer get the nod. I think canelo’s style is what the fight game is about.

on a side note, 3g is the best at 160 and kovalev is the best light heavy. give a sh!t what ring’s rankings are or anyones for that matter.

i do think lara would defeat fraud mayweather at his own game. I hope this is the beginning of the end for the “runner style” in boxing. I would not call trout a runner. fraud and lara most definitely. it will be interesting to see who is generating the money when fraud is gone and if masses get behind another “runner” style. My guess is it will not happen.

I wish ward would grow a pair and fight kovalev at light heavy. ward is so irrelevant now it is unreal. how ward has not been demoted on rings p4p rankings for inactivity is garbage.

lara met a top ten p4p fighter in canelo LOST.

Posted July 13, 2014 4:03 pm

TWO different Fights. Lara’s punches DID more damage overall because Canelo was charging into them and he gave Lara more opportunities to land them. He refused to charge into Mayweather because his SKILLS are intimidating. Unless you’re a guy like Maidana who has NO respect for Boxing rules then you know you’re in trouble with Floyd. Its very difficult to land clean shots on HIM while he lands them on YOU with EASE. Its Demoralizing.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:53 pm

Canelo made a fool outta TARK again!!!!! Again!!!!!LMAO!!!!! He had Lara winning

Posted July 13, 2014 3:49 pm

Boxtra I have to disagree Laras bigger and hits harder than Floyd. Canelo can eat Floyds shots and spit them out like stale gum. Canelo delt with eating Laras counters to the face that did more damage than Floyd did.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:46 pm

Fight not Flight

How many times in the whole fight did Lara sit in the pocket? The accidental slip doesn’t count.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:41 pm

TARK has run from the comment boards as well because he STILL took Lara to WIN after I told the World that Canelo would WIN by TWO blind MICE decision. He SAYS that he KNEW that Lara had to beat the crap out of Canelo yet he predicted him to DO just that by picking him to WIN. SO now he is forced into Monday Morning Quarterbacking yet aagain.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:34 pm

A rematch should be made, but I would like to see Canelo/Cotto made first, and Lara against a named opponent like ….. (fill the blank).
Both win, and the rematch is on.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:31 pm

Mayweather is more of a Boxing DEMON who makes you pay for Body shots with pinpoint shots the FACE. Canelo is no DUMMY. He knows thats an uneven trade. Lara made him pay but not as much as Floyd would. Floyd is levels above Lara as I have been saying all along. That’s why he’s rated #1 P4P and Lara is rated #5 on MY personal P4P list.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:27 pm

The Prince

Unfortunately, when you fight guys like Canelo in boxing, you have to dominate them to get the decision. The fights can’t be close or the house wins, and Canelo that night was the house. Lara didn’t do enough to force the judges to award him the fight. They judges saw where they could award Canelo the fight and done so.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:25 pm

Seeing that I am CORRECT yet again Herron has DUCKED from the comment boards. Catching ME right after another WIN is like catching a CHAIN SAW. I’ll cut through YOU just like BUTTER. I am the GREATEST Fight Prophet ever born! !!!!!!!

You know this fight was truly a stalemate. Imo Lara edged Canelo by the slimmest of margins but that just wasn’t gonna be enough to get the nod over Canelo. Lara and his corner should have known better. I gotta give Canelo a ton of credit for #1 taking this fight giving boxing fans what we’ve been begging for and #2 neutralizing Lara making it impossible to pull away in the fight. Contrary to the popular opinion that this fight wasnt entertaining I was in bliss watching a real competitive match where the fighters we’re so good they were able to nuetralize most of what the other was good at doing making both have to find an extra gear or an extra trick to pull ahead. Thats real world-class competitive fighting. Thanks to both fighters for giving me that. They both lived up to their rankings and pedigree. Imo there should be an immediate rematch and a 3rd fight most likely but of course boxing will only give you the smallest of samples of real boxing and now we will go back to appeasing casual fans. It just sucks Laras gonna go back to his previous position because he did prove that he is arguably the best jmw in the world. But its his own fault he had to take more risk and take Canelos marketability from him to a certain degree. Canelos marketability was actually slightly enhanced which left no choice to the politics of boxing to give him the win. Lastly I have to peel this old scab where the hell was this power body punching against a more stationary Floyd smh. It certainly wasn’t Floyds movement or defense that neutralized it. Nor was any return fire in the form of powerful counters that would’ve made Canelo think twice just saying.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:19 pm

@tark how can you score a fight as a SD are you bipolar?

Posted July 13, 2014 3:16 pm

Fight not Flight

Negative tactics by Lara – got what he deserved. Made a potentially great fight into a piss poor, bore fest. No way should runners be rewarded in the sport. Boxing is competing against other sports in a highly competitive market – this sort of spectacle will drive away potential fans away in their droves.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:14 pm

I predicted long ago that Canelo’s AIM was to be a PPV star and I was CORRECT. Golden Boy has managed to develop another PPV Star. I also predict that Golden Boy will obtain Chavez Jr….The Chavez Jr. vs Canelo Fight will come in near future.

Posted July 13, 2014 3:06 pm

With all being said, and the fight aside, there is one glaring truth. We’ve all seen it, more than once now, Canelo has problems with movers. His team better recognize that and help their fighter adjust.

Posted July 13, 2014 2:48 pm

To all of you out there that are not on my level as an expert, I told you that was going to be the outcomes. I had Canelo winning by SD.

Got the pick right atlast, Sure Lara got the nod on the punch stats, but there is more to a fight than just stats.
For me, Canelo/Cotto is a must, it’s a fight begging to be made.

Posted July 13, 2014 2:33 pm

I will never watch another Lara fight again. Pure trash last night. That was the true definition of running. That was not ring generalship! Waste of money! Garbage.

Posted July 13, 2014 2:26 pm

Lara landed more jabs and Canelo landed ore body shots. But punch stats mean squat

Posted July 13, 2014 2:25 pm

Actually there are a large amount of boxing scribes and fans who think Canelo won. I had Lara winning by 2 rounds. But Lara ran way to much. You make someone miss you need to make them pay. Yeah Canelos face looked like he been in a fight but so did Laras

Posted July 13, 2014 2:24 pm

@datruth hurts
Doesn’t matter how many times you post it, it won’t make it truth. Get off the mans nuttz(Lara’s)and pick up a book and read about the sweet science. What Floyd did was boxing, what Lara did was shameful. Man needs a new corner. Cuz Ronnie Shield, is $hit.

Posted July 13, 2014 2:20 pm

Well, Paul Strauss, Lara in fact out punched Canelo (unless you were counting how many times Canelo missed Lara but did hit things like the ring ropes). Check this:
#ShoStats: Total Punches Landed/Thrown
thru 12
Canelo [97/415, 23%]
Lara [107/386, 27%]

And once again, I am not posting too fast.

Bottom line is Lara clearly Beat Canelo EZ 8 to 4 Rounds.. Lara Made Canelo look like the Plodding slow as Mollases tough man Brawler that we all know he is.. at the place I saw the fight everyone was laughing every time Lara Landed those straight shots to Canelos face, Canello was confused and missing shots wildly.. Canelo never dropped Lara, seriously hurt Canelo nonthing.. Just look at Canelos face it was all puffy and Red… Lara got Robbed and every true Boxing Fan including the Showtime Talking heads and one honest Judge had lara easily beating Canelo.. Only delusional Mexicans say Canelo won that fight.. Canelo looked as bad as he did vs Mayweather.. it was another sh!t performance by Cinnabum..

$hit article. Notice how the writer tries to brain wash you with the word foolish. Repeating it over and over. You can’t win a fight going backwards, if you don’t punch(period!)ask Oscar De La Hoya. That’s not boxing that’s running, or manuering the ring without any sort of sustained offense.

Lara is one of the most difficult Boxers in the Sport to hit. Canelo is the FLASHIER puncher and sometimes FLASH defeats substance when it comes to people’s OPINIONS.
