I think this could be a great fight. Honestly I think Ward will win, but I’m rooting for Dawson. I owe a debt of gratitude to Dawson for beating Hopkins.

I agree with Boxing Barlow. This has all of the ingtredients of a mega-fight except the American interest in the sport. I’m not sure if America will ever embrace our sport as we once did, but to Hell with the majority of my countrymen who only embrace Football, Basketball, and Baseball. This is a Mega-fight and I know where my attention will be on September 8th! S.O.G. BY UNANIMOUS DECISION!

Stay @ home champions really get my goat :!: Along with Ward @168lb WBO trinket holder @ 175lb Nathan Cleverley should really be cooking right now. He’s young fast, strong & smart, so why won’t he take on the WBA’s Kasakstany champion Beibut Shumenov in the USA(nuetral ground) :?: I know there’s more money with Ward for Dawson, but for the good of the sport he shoud of taken on Cloud with the winner unifing with the winner of Cleverley/Shumenov. Oh for an ideal World :!:

Boxing Barlow

Whats really sad is this fight is a real reflection of boxing today. I do think this should be a mega fight, but the reality is it is not. Neither fighter seems to have much of a following despite their skills. No one is really getting excited about this fight even though we are looking at the best two fighters between super middle and heavy weight. This fight is a modern Jones Jnr Vrs Hopkins. America is dying in terms of boxing. If these fighters were British and German, with the pro records they have, the titles on the line etc. This would be a mega event. A stadium filler. Joe Calzaghe sold out a international football stadium with 70,000 people when he fought Kessler. I feel sorry for Ward and Dawson.

This is a mega fight. IMO outside Pac Mayweather this is the biggest fight taht could be made in boxing today, but to a certain extent it is not getting the attention it deserves. Ward is an awsome fighter and Dawson has some serious skills. What make the fight interesting though for me is although Ward has beaten everyone put in front of him quite confortably, he has yet to fight anyone with real quality fundemental skills. Froch and Kessler are both very good oposition but they do not have the skills of Dawson. So this is a real competative fight.

Catchweights stink :!: This fight has been made for the WBA/WBC 168lb title end of. No one held a gun to Dawsons head. He’s obviously not concerned so be it. The only concern I’ve got is that yet again Ward’s fighting @ Oakland. In an ideal World Carl Froch face’s the winner on nuetral ground.

Blah Blah Blah

Still plenty of Euros left in the olympics  , the two dominant heavyweights are Euro. All the USA has is the 35 year old ped cycling cherry picking Fraud Mayweather , Chad Dawson , Andre Ward and the 47 year old Hopkins . Name one American fighter under 25 years of age who is going to be great.

i think they should’ve at least done a catchweight. maybe 171 lbs?

Big George

Dawson by decision. Ward has never fought a guy with this kind of skill offensively or defensively. This is really too much for Andre too soon!

The big news is that this fight is in Oakland. This would be the 1st time Ward has been able to fight in front of his hometown fans. The guy is always travelling to fight the best.

deep SEA

oH BOY OH BOY, AND here we go again. Ward at home. Give me a break, how much longer will we entertain a guy who cant hurt anyone, who cant knock anyone out, who only fights at home for the most part, and is called the best. too too funny. Ward would had nevered got past yount b-hop, young roy jones jr, james toney, those guys would had blasted this guy the second he arrived. Remember, Ward couldnt do a thing in boxing the first 4 years as a pro then this tourny came his way where he added so so fighters on a poor resume. Every fighter on Ward’s resume had been beaten already before they stepped into the ring. Ward needs to do something worth something.

Dawson doesn’t have the versatility or inside game that Ward has. And Ward is mentally tougher. Not to mention, Ward’s jab is the most underrated in boxing. Add to that, a drained LHW and an Oakland venue and I see Ward taking it.
The new format: not a fan

Ward adapts better than Dawson. Ward by Decision.

great fight. slightly favor Ward….this will bring Ward out to the light and possibly make him a superstar.

Ward cant KO a stiff stuck in ice in alaska. Too, Ward fights at home for all the protection it offers. Ward ‘s resume is that full of fighters who will never see the p4p list nor will they see the hall of fame. Bika green miranda abe and froch are hardly worth a second look from now. Dawson is a solid fighter who will have to fight in the awful politics of the oakland arena. Dawson needs the Ko to win, noway he wins with a decision even if he is dominating.

time travel

Ward won a sad tourny full of euros and misfits, and what. Dawson would had been a true test if this fight would had been at Dawson’s home land, but ward dont have the ballz to do that.

Big Al

If anyone can keep Ward at bay, it’s Dawson. Sometimes I question his desire and motivation, but I’ll give him that. I think Dawson can find the openings in Ward’s outside game. If you recall, Abraham had a beautiful start to his fight with Ward and won the first 2-3 rounds in my book — boxing and defending behind the jab. Once he stopped jabbing, Ward took over. The jab might be the key.

Ward is the total package as many of you will soon see! The world has not yet seen the best of Andre Ward because he hasn’t had to fight at his peak performance level. He is just so good that he feels his opponent out, starts executing his game plan and then just sort of hits cruise control. I really hope Dawson is good enough to make Ward dig deep, so you all can see the best of SOG, the #2 P4P in the world!

Gonzo The Dragonborn

Dawson is every bit the warrior Ward wishes he could be and every bit the gentlemen Ward pretends to be.

Tomato Can

I have to agree, if Dawson can keep the fight at range, he could cause a lot of problems for ward. If he gasses from having to cut the extra weight, Ward will end up winning this one on the inside. My gut tells me Ward wins this one, by way of close split decision.

well written specially the last paragraph; P S: I prefer the former ESB style!
