Gonzo…’s on like Donkey Kong. Why are you so full of yourself as well as homophobic slags? I really don’t want to beastiality anyone because I don’t relish the thought of staring into that brown eye. You seem to fantasize about it. What the f is that all about. Me, I prefer girls.

dogspastic.. ”Gonzo….you are freakin’ hilarious”

Do you really want to continue down this route, dogspastic? You’ve engaged in a battle of wits with the greatest debater and wit this site has ever known. It’s completely futile. You’re so heavily outmatched and outgunned it’s not even funny. This is akin to Barbados trying to invade Russia. lol. You’re not going to secure a victory no matter how hard you try. lol

What’s so funny about a seriously ripped physique Richard? I can assure you that you wouldn’t see the funny side of me using my physicality to throw you around like a rag doll with AIDS. I’d snap your rail thin puny limbs like a fully mature adult male Silverback gorilla snapping damp matchsticks. lol

Gonzo, I see you’ve perfected the art of the five day goodbye. I also saw your picture and you are buff…. blue and with a giant hook nose. You used to be known as the Great Gonzo but the Muppets dropped the Great moniker (go figure) and now you are just known as Gonzo. You must have added that other crappy name Dragonfly from playing Warcraft or Diablo perhaps. Anyway you’re probably busy hitting that heavy bag….. of chips and warming up… your keyboard and mouse for your next big session Dragonfly.

It’s a small wonder that boxing has just lost it’s luster Gonzo. Arseholes like yourself, if indeed you are a boxer or former boxer, has chased away long supporting fans of the sport such as myself. Nobody cares about the Mayweathers, Hayes and Fury’s of the world because they’re all loudmouth pompous jrkoffs. I don’t go around telling people how wonderful at my craft I am because if I did, then I would be just like you and gladly and proudly, I can say I’m not. Stick to your craft loudmouth and I’ll humbly stick to mine.

dogspastic.. You’re darn tootin’ the mighty Gonzo has spoken. And FTR, there are many more strings to his bow than comedy and debating par excellence on the Tinternet. He’s also a Renaissance Man and.. wait for it.. a former boxer who has boxed at the highest level both as an amateur and a pro. Gonzo has actually sparred against many of the fighters rail-thin armed couch potatoes like you discuss about here on a daily basis, and knocked down a good few of them too. Don’t believe me? Posted July 13, 2013 6:06 pm

Teddy Atlas made an interesting comment, stating that Fury’s still green and not at the level of the more experienced Haye. Teddy also said many contemporary contenders nowadays are simply not trained properly. Teddy’s colleague then stated that may be the reason the Klitchkos have such an easy time defeating their opponents. I agree, especially with regard to Tyson and Hughie Fury. At some point, Peter Fury might have to place them under a more professional trainer if they’re to win a world title.

You’re crazy tach.. Saying Fury has no power.. He’s a freakin giant with big power.. Cunningham is a 210-pounder who never got hit with a threatening punch by Adamek — and never got crushed til he fought Fury.

Cunningham got battered to Hell by Fury… Everybody gets knocked down.. Getting up and winning is the deal.. You’re dismissive of any white fighter.

Chris Bryd was a short, small, masterful, feather punching southpaw…

Tyson Fury is a tall, massive, crude brawling, infighting, hard punching, orthodox style fighter.

You’re comparing fighters who couldn’t be more dissimilar… Stop the madness.

Haye is over the hill, and has not fought for over a year. Rusty and his time has gone. Fury is the attraction here and Haye is filled with fear of Fury. Haye is scared. He is going to taste canvas and take a Fury induced nap in this one.

What’s not to love about this match-up? Even the press conference was entertaining with these two characters.

I just hope David Haye doesn’t fight as tentatively as he did against Valuev and Klitschko. That will be my only fear as we approach September 28th!!

If Tyson defeats Haye, which is a big if, I wonder what song he’ll decide to sing afterwards?

Posted July 12, 2013 8:27 pm

These two clowns should be fighting for Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey. At least Haye has skill, which should prevail over Fury’s size (and heart). With Price exposed, the HW scene in the UK is even more pathetic than in the US.

Posted July 12, 2013 8:14 pm

charly manson, state pen.

If haye looses this fight it will be because he forgot to trim his eye brows and a hair got in his eye and as a result he could not throw his haye makers. Only way fury wins this fight is to remain focused and box from the outside and tie haye up on the inside, fury coulds punch haye in his baby toe if he gets knocked down aswell.

Squared-Circle lol wow you mean fight after the round where Fury was knocked flat by Cunningham? Fury finally got Cunningham out of there after Cunningham was out of gas. LOL Haye is going to blast Fury into the next dimension it want even be a match. As PBF says skills pay the bills and Haye is going to turn Fury’s lights off.

Posted July 12, 2013 6:13 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

“Squared-Circle major flaw in Fury’s game is he has no power.”

Wrong! I guess you didn’t see TF hit U.S.S. with that crushing hook/uppercut and KO him like a lifeless rag-doll on the canvas. It was pure highlight reel eye-candy. He doesn’t have Wlad’s super-human power, but no one has power like that.

But he’s still 260lbs and even his stiff jab has some power behind it. Smaller HWs like U.S.S. and Haye really feel those shots. Real talk.

Posted July 12, 2013 6:07 pm

Gonzo the Dragonborn

Fury does have power on some of his shots he just doesn’t have the kind of bone crunching KO power you would expect from someone of his gargantuan dimensions. Wlad hits much, much harder than him though.

Posted July 12, 2013 6:05 pm

Fury is a Joke. He has a little more skill than Valuev, but is a plodding fighter anyway. How the heck is Fury ranked #8?? i swear sometimes these ranking don’t make a lick of sense. Aside from having the “baddest name on the planet”, Tyson Fury won’t be an elite fighter and David Haye should expose him. This is a majority consensus.

Posted July 12, 2013 5:34 pm

Squared-Circle major flaw in Fury’s game is he has no power. Larger version of a lesser skilled Chris Byrd.

Posted July 12, 2013 5:34 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

The major flaw in Fury’s game is that he doesn’t take full advantage of his tremendous height and 85″ reach, staying behind a fully-extended jab and power straight.

He’s actually a pretty damn good at infighting and brawling for such a tall, long man… but that opens him up to hooks and uppercuts. And too much infighting with Haye could easily get him knocked out.

Steward really could’ve done something with Fury in the same way that he did with Wlad. Teach him how to fight smart, tall and take maximum advantage of that long jab and straight. If Fury was able to develop that technique…he could jab guys from halfway across the ring and keep them on the outside. Then he could fall back on his scrappy infighting ability the few times they get inside. TF would be a REAL force to be reckoned with if he adopted that style.

But he’s like a mad dog that loves to brawl, so he fights small and lets smaller men get into range. This is why he will likely lose this fight. Steward might have been able to mold this kid into a World Champion.
And I believe they eventually would’ve hooked up too because TF used to go visit his cousin Andy Lee at Kronk and do some training there. Remember those photos of TF and Wlad at Kronk looking like best friends forever???

LOL Gonzo, I do enjoy reading your posts sir.

Posted July 12, 2013 5:23 pm

Gonzo the Dragonborn

One thing that makes me laugh is when people say Haye was able to take Wlad’s best shots. Wlad never cane close to catching him with his best shot, either with the straight right or the left hook. Had he done so Haye would still be snoozing now. lol

Posted July 12, 2013 5:22 pm

Popkins …. … lots of hype…easy money for Haye. Early KO. Fury has a punchers chance. 9 times out of 10 Haye flattens Tyson inside 3 rounds.

Posted July 12, 2013 4:37 pm

I like this fight simply because both guys have a lot to live up to and stand to gain a lot. Fury must backup his trash talk and Haye must still do more to erase the memory of Klitch-Toe. Maybe a miracle will happen and we’ll get a dramatic heavyweight war for he ages. Hard to type that with a straight face but it could happen. Maybe? One can hope.

Posted July 12, 2013 4:27 pm

Posted July 12, 2013 4:23 pm

I expect a one sided fight for Haye. I am interested in watching this to confirm that I am correct.

Posted July 12, 2013 4:15 pm

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Fury was fighting with his hands down in that fight and was taking all sorts of unnecessary risks. He will not fight that stupid in this fight because he knows that Haye has explosive KO power. I’m not predicting that Fury will win… I’m saying all these experts predicting “easy KO for Haye” are off base.

We know that Haye is EXTREMELY uncomfortable in the ring with Giant Super HWs. He looks super timid (almost scared) and almost stops throwing punches. We saw it with both Valuev and Wlad and we will see some of that again with Fury.

Keep in mind that Fury made U.S.S. look like a midget, and Haye is almost EXACTLY the same size as Steve-O. You will be surprised at how small Haye looks in the ring next to this Giant.

Posted July 12, 2013 4:06 pm

Gonzo the Dragonborn

The Thompson loss was due to fatigue. He was stopped by a roofer or a plumber named Jim Twite as an amateur though and there’s no question his chin is a bit suspect too. Jean-Luc Picard dropped him and had him on spaghetti legs, and Mock the Midget dropped him like he’d been shot in the face with an Elephant rifle and was literally a punch away from knocking him sparko. Mock was a career super-middleweight too.

Gonzo the Dragonborn

Problem for Fury is I don’t think Haye’s going to encounter much difficulty hitting him. Fury is not the defensive specialist Wlad is. One thing he does have going for him though is he’s very good at throwing sneaky counter punches as his opponent is teeing off and catching them with something they don’t see coming.

Posted July 12, 2013 3:50 pm

David Haye was stopped by Carl Thompson but wasn’t really KO’d (the ref was a bit early on the stoppage; youtube it) and aside from that no one has even come close to stopping him. If he gets to Fury like Cunningham did Tyson won’t wake up. It IS that simple and I do know boxing. You’ll see.

Posted July 12, 2013 3:46 pm

Gonzo the Dragonborn

I don’t read too much into the Cunningham knockdown. Fury was way too overconfident and standing a bit too square on and I think he was more embarrassed by being dropped in his big showcase over in the US than genuinely hurt by the shot. He has been hurt and dropped by much lesser punchers than Haye before though, which is obviously cause for concern.

Posted July 12, 2013 3:41 pm

Gonzo the Dragonborn

I have mixed feelings about this fight. On one hand, every shred of common sense in my noggin’ is screaming out to me that Haye is going to detonate one of his bombs on Fury’s Anglo-Irish lantern jaw and fell him like a big ol’ Redwood, and on the other, I’m way too certain it’s going to unfold like that for my liking and it’s got me wondering if this is going to be one of those fights where we could see a huge upset.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Fury is going to give Haye a lot more trouble than most are predicting on ESB. He has NEVER been stopped, but Haye has been. Of course Haye can KO anyone if he lands the right KO punch. But that is the million dollar question here. Will Haye be able to land a KO punch?

And don’t say just because U.S.S. happened to land a perfect shot, which knocked TF down but really didn’t hurt him, that Haye will for sure. If you think it’s that simple, you don’t know much about boxing. Real talk.

Posted July 12, 2013 3:07 pm

You are the boxing poet of all. Never bought poetry before but I hope yours is for sale?!…………..

Posted July 12, 2013 3:03 pm

“Coming back after being floored by an American to win via devastating clobbering is pretty impressive.”

You mean the old, blown-up Cruiserweight who was having his way with Fury until he finally ran out of gas?
The only reason why Fury won that fight is because he used his extra weight to drain Cunningham.

Up till the 6th round, USS was beating him soundly.

When Fury finally grows a pair of stones and fights a REAL heavyweight contender, then we’ll see what he has.
Wlad Klitscho has been calling him out for a while, but Fury runs and hides.
He knows he’d get killed.

Fury is nothing but smoke and mirrors and eventually, when there’s no other place to hide, he’ll be exposed as the average HW pug that he is.

Posted July 12, 2013 3:02 pm

mr gav

Haye will win but will look bad in doing it making much harder work than most pundits predict. However Tyson will look good for a few rounds better than most expect. But haye will hurt fury and land more punches with the refree stoping the fight some what prematurely

I think this will be a decent fight for as long as it lasts. Fury is an underdog and I’m sure he’ll taste the canvas at some stage, but he’ll make it entertaining. Could be a bit wild and a brawl, but I think Haye will land harder, cleaner shots with speed and that’ll be the difference. Tyson’s best chance might be the forearm–uppercut-hook combo he pulled on Steve Cunningham! Go on there, Fists of Fury!! Lol!

Posted July 12, 2013 1:22 pm

Haye cracked in sizzling jabs, deft liver shots, and wicked right counters.. He ripped vladimir out with an impressive display of uppercuts and hooks.. When he gets inside of Fury’s arms he going to be very dangerous indeed..

rod…., “Haye does not have a great jab, he has no inside game”… Apparently you didn’t see Haye-Chisora.. Haye cracked in sizzling jabs, deft liver shots, and wicked right counters.. He ripped Chisora out with an impressive display of uppercuts and hooks.. When he gets inside of Fury’s arms he going to be very dangerous indeed..

I doubt if Fury will have a referee who will allow him to pull Haye’s head down with both hands behind the neck — as you see in the photo for “Haye-Fury bout Will Be in Manchester, Says Peter Fury”… That is only allowed in MMA fights… But if Haye is physically strong enough to withstand 250 pounds of weight on the back of his neck, he may get in a killing liver shot — which is one of his favorite punches… Fury also has a brutal liver punch, unbeknownst to many. He took out Scott Belshaw with the punch.

Um . . . isn’t Furry the guy that got knocked on his ass by Cunningspam? Isn’t Cunningspam a lighter puncher than haye?

Posted July 12, 2013 12:16 pm

Rod your basing your assessment of Fury on tomato cans he has fought his entire career. Hay is not in that class he is a quantum leap above anything Fury has faced and a full dimensional shift above any talent Fury has. I mean Fury did all that talk during the press conference about how tiny Cunningham was and what happened Cunningham put Fury on his ass. This was done by a man who has no where near the power Haye possesses. End result Fury will learn he can never be a top Heavy Weight he will always be a journeyman at the bottom of the Heavy Weight barrel. At least Fury can make a few extra pounds by putting advertising on the bottom of his shoes will be a nice display while Fury is stretched out on his back.

hated enemy

fury is just not that good haye will win, same as price ,just an above average fighter that wont win in the end

Posted July 12, 2013 11:54 am

The worst thing about athletic boxers like Haye is they have short careers. Roy Jones outside his prime was very hittable. Athletic fighters only peak for so long. Haye has one style, he is an ambush fighter and although a great performance against chisora he was gassing before the KO. Fury leaning on him for several rounds will take it’s toll. Haye cannot box toe to toe with Fury, he cannot stand in front and out jab Fury. He has to constantly move in and out and circle and look for an opening to unload. If fury’s head is in the ring and not in the crowd it will be a tough fight for haye. Fury has focus issues, he also cannot make a mistake with Haye.

Rod even D level fighters hit Fury easily Haye is a B+ Heavy weight with speed, power, and accuracy. Fury is a heavy bag with eyeballs although he does make the press tours fun to watch. Fury is in for the worst whupping of his life.

Posted July 12, 2013 11:43 am

Well Tyson even at 6’9 is hittable on the chin when he is not focused. Haye will not have an easy time, Tyson has a very good jab, very fast and long. He has a good outside game and a good inside game. He has a sturdy chin and power and when in shape can bang for 12 rounds. Haye has amazing speed and power. He does not have a great jab, he has no inside game and cannot slug it out, His chin is almost impossible to tag but is not great. This will end in a KO. It is a good fight.

Fury will get stomped and KTFO. lamb to the slaughter!!!!

Posted July 12, 2013 11:35 am

Easy fight for Haye. Fury is made for him. Only way he loses if his inactivity has made him very rusty. He looked like he was rusty against Chisora towards the end of it, he started blowing a bit. But that was Chisora bringing as much pressure as he could. Fury is a different fighter. Haye should win by KO in the first half of the fight and look good in the process. Fury isn’t a particularly big puncher, he is fairly hittable, he’s got dodgy whiskers. Haye should have a field day unless his lack of activity comes back to haunt him.

Can you please tell me why my comments are not being posted?

I was so pissed when Fury ducked Pulev but he is now going to fight Haye. Pulev, hard as hell but he beat a poor version of Vaulev….Ustinov and Alexander Dimitrenko who is probably inferior to David Price. That’s it. Haye didnt look great against Wlad but Wlad didnt look great against Haye. Haye has chopped down a bigger man than Fury and is probably more dangerous than Pulev. This will be a good fight. Fury has an outside and inside game and is freakishly fast for a HW. Haye is simply an athletic freak of nature and a slick tricky ambush fighter. They would both take Vitali now. Wlad of course is the best today.

Fantana, Please don’t come on here and show your ignorance..IE “It is a sad state of affairs when kings are hung, drawn and quartered in front of their own people”….Don’t be sad, as it has never happened,no king has ever been “hung drawn and quartered”…..You will only get people thinking what you write is well written and factual……

David Haye and Wladimir Klitschko are both great defenders… Wladimir wasn’t always so good.. He didn’t tie up Corrie Sanders or Lamon Brewster effectively.. His clinching skills lacked finesse until he was with Manny Steward for a couple years, “You look like a cowboy trying to wrestle a steer.”

Frazier couldn’t tie up Foreman. Not only did Frazier lack the height, size, and strength for such an effort, he had little practice at it. Nobody ever clobbered Joe like that before. The fight resembled a heavy bag workout with Cosell shouting, “This is target practice.” Patterson had the same problem wth Sonny Liston, Michael Spinks with Tyson, and Cunningham with Fury. If your opponent is twice as strong as you, you’re pretty much SOL. You steer clear of that kind of matchup for your fighter if you can.

Fury has 40 pounds on Haye. Haye tries to maintain his physical strength at a very high level to deal with massive size disparities.. It takes a Herschel Walker type workout routine, with hundreds of plyometric pushups, 35 pullups without straining, and maybe a thousand situps.. It’s physically very taxing on the body—but you have no choice if you’re 210 and your most logical opponents stand 6’6″ X 250 or bigger.

Good article, well written and factual. Recent ticket sales show that Fury is the biggest draw out there in the heavyweight division. That’s good for the sport whether you like Fury or not.

Good fight.

why all these “trying to be funny” articles? this website has been going downhill for a while now – shame really because it can be very informative but these articles are bringing it down – can he have proper boxing analysis and interesting artcles please??

Fantana’s best yet!

Posted July 12, 2013 8:04 am

@ujelly your right on that,i personally think that if haye landed three hooks flush on mr k he would have had k in butter leg mode, haye fought with the right idea but was not consistent in offence but when he landed mr k was honest,i think fury is more intelligent than he seems but again most people thought before his bout with delboy that haye would be roughed up.Haye talks like a brit and actually trains like an american athlete.2oops on Haye

Right up yez that’s meant to read lol

Posted July 12, 2013 6:42 am

I’m so happy I’m English/British and I understand this authors humour. If I was a yank and I thought this was real talk, I’d book myself into the nearest brain surgeon and ask to be given a personality!
Great stuff Fantana – Is there actually any British boxers you rate?? HAHA!

Posted July 12, 2013 6:41 am

On a serious note though! he’s right about a Scotsman winning the Wimbledon Title, a title the English have tried to win for 8 decades, hahahah anyone but Murray lads eh?? lolololol get it fight up yez hahahahah

Posted July 12, 2013 6:41 am

Americans just don’t understand humour do they??
Self-depreciation and negative mental attitude get you a long way in the UK haha.
Love Fantana’s writing, it’s just a joke guys…he thinks most British boxers are absolute sh – which is pretty much spot on.
Keep up the great writing!

Levi Roots is his daddy lol

Another classic from Fantana. ‘Cyprus resident David Haye’, lol! Fury IS the British heavyweight in this fight, ha ha!

David’s little toe

Hiya, I’m David Haye’s little toe. I will be perfectly fine in September, unlike when David and I lost to Wladimir!

Posted July 12, 2013 6:08 am

@Blur – “You idiots saying he ran are retards,Haye should have stood toe to toe right with man that outweighed him that much”

Yeah, I found it funny after the fight that Wlad was blaming Haye for “running”… and yet, every time Haye came forward swinging (i.e. when he erroneously thought he had a counter-punch opportunity), Wlad would back up so fast it was crazy or just tie him up.
If Wlad really wanted a straight up “fight”, then why didn’t he engage whilst Haye was engaging? What better time to hit him than when he’s concentrating on offense instead of defense?
The fact is, Wlad is only ever the aggressor when he’s comfortable and safe. The minute he’s in any danger, he goes into full defence mode (and often ties people up, which is actually cheating… the guy has fast feet so I dunno why he even resorts to holding).
What Wlad (and everyone else) really meant was “he didn’t stand at arms length and let me pummel him”.

Don’t get me wrong… Wlad wanting to keep a fight on the end of a jab is the best tactic for him and there’s nothing at all wrong with it. But he really needs to consider his own “safety first” approach before criticizing someone else’s.

mr gav

Exciting fight. Both fighters bring the draw in my eyes both together just makes it worth ppv standard I did think haye ruined ppv value after rights like valyv Harrison and klitscow so only fury can make haye ppv worthy again. I think haye will win in a decent fight

Personally I think Fantana’s articles are becoming a little tired. He essentially has one style of humour which he repeats in each article and it’s getting rather boring. The article about Amir Khan was quite funny but this one didn’t make me laugh once. Pretty rubbish.

third world

haye all day.good bye furry.

Posted July 12, 2013 2:51 am

I love the writing style of this article, as well as all his other articles.

If people don’t get it they either don’t get British humour, or are retarded.

Posted July 12, 2013 2:44 am

I wonder how people say david has no balls or punching power,in d klitchsko fight the first time he landed his right he jolted klitchsko and all d man did was hold him.You idiots saying he ran are retards,Haye should have stood toe to toe right with man that outweighed him that much,i think waldimir would say the Haye fight was his easiest, idiots who love to see toe to toe battles but cant even do a 5mile run,

Yeah I really dislike when people refer to themselves in 3rd person

Posted July 12, 2013 1:52 am

Fanny predicted Audley Harrison would beat Haye, Price, and Wilder… Audley was his hero all the way.. Now he’s touting Fury with the same tongue-in-cheek bravado..

Not good news for Tyson, a guy who continuously uses his own full name when talking about himself… As in “Tyson Fury did you a favor by giving you this fight… Tyson Fury is the draw in this fight… Tyson Fury will squash you like a fly and shatter the glass in Wladimir Klitschko’s chin all over the arena when that mug grows the balls to fight Tyson Fury.”

Posted July 12, 2013 1:10 am

Go Fantana! I love his satirical articles. For the record, Britain has NO TALENT as far as boxing is concerned, especially with regard to David “SQUIRREL BALLS” Haye and Tyson “NO PUNCHING POWER” Fury.
