GGG does remind me of Tszyu and his power is that of Julian Jackson. I’m sure a lot of boxers head are gonna be taken off by this guy but his greatest test will be Ward, a good boxer usually beats a good banger. His defense is not that great and Mack the Knife did expose a few holes in him.

If GGG is elite let him fight and beat a few elite fighters like Ward, Froch & Martinez then that would make him an elite fighter, simple until then his just another Julian Jackson & Gerard McClellan.

For me personally, there are only two fights at 160 that currently make sense for Golovkin.

Geale / Barker winner = Unification No.1

then Martinez = Unification No.2 (Also for the ‘Ring Magazine’ title.)

Whilst these fights are made, other challengers will emerge.

Plenty of exciting fights out there should the other promoters allow their fighters into the ring with a lion. DiBella seems reluctant.

For all you saying SOG will take Golovkin to school watch the amatuer fight between GGG and SOG. I know amatuer is different but GGG has the skills to compete with SOG. Don’t know if he would win but we’ll probably find out.

For all you anti Glovokin ‘s he will win all the time so get use to it

I like GGG. He is a very entertaining boxer and a good sportsman. It was almost like he was saying no water on the floor is going to steal my glory! I would suggest taking the shot if you get it against Ward or Froch. I’d like to see him against Kirkland. Sure, I know Kirkland is undersized and this is a bit unfair, but for the minute and a half this fight lasts it would be a classic! I think Quillen is dangerous, but he does not have the chin. GGG should dominate at 160. Let’s let him clean out that division before having him move up.

Squared-Circle Real Talk (a.k.a. The Lion King of Beat Street)

Wrong! Mack should’ve won a Major MW title when he outboxed Sturm in Germany, but got ROBBED. Then he quite nearly beat Maravilla and was leading on all cards after 10 rounds. Mack is one of the top 5-7 MWs in the world. That is what we call a legit Contender in the sport of boxing, NOT a Journeyman.

Agree with gray there are at least 2-3 in England would beat maklin(and with ease)GGG looks fecking good but beating a journey man like maklin proves nothing tbh don’t know what maklin has done to keep getting tittle shots when I hear him talk I think he’s delusional

bit of perspective macklin is probably only 3-4h best in britain let alone europe. i still think jamie moore could take him now. i’d like him to fight david lemeux that would be fun

No, no more Macklin types for GGG. Won’t sell. Need stiffer 160 competition.

Great observation about that water on the floor incident. GGG looks goofy in interviews but shows a lot of class/sportsmanship in the ring…while trying to take your head off!

At 160 I think only Quillen with his speed advantage beats Golovkin. If he moves up to super-middle, it’s anybody’ guess vs Froch. That fight is too close to call – maybe a slight advantage for GGG – but only slight. As for Ward, you can fugetaboudit. SOG wins by early to mid rounds stoppage with no questions asked.

GGG is a true sportsman. In the third round when Macklin was drawing the ref’s attention to water in corner, GGG could have very easily attacked but he didn’t. He waited until Macklin was ready to fight. That shows a lot of class.

GGG is really good REALLY good, but if he ever decides to go back to school my man S.O.G Andre ward would be more than happy to take him there!

stuck in a moment

He has no resume. So he ko’s stiffs faster then others. Lets see him fight one of the best at 160

I wouldn’t say it was a waste, as it’s a process we have to sit through (and enjoyably so) whilst Golovkin establishes himself within the sport. Macklin is always game, but unfortunately form a stylistic perspective he was always made for Golovkin. Like a little lamb to the slaughter.

Big fights in Golovkins future, we just need to be patient.

Macklin did connect with a few shots but was aghast to observe no effect! That probably shocked him as much as the first jab. It’s a waste watching this guy against the Macklin types.
