TOTALLY DISAGREE with you GRAY. I’ve followed boxing since the start of the 80’s when we had BBC1, 2 and ITV all vying to show as much boxing as possible through such media as Sportsnight, Grandstand, World of Sport etc… Heck, we even had Henry Cooper’s Golden Belt on Channel 4 later.

My point is that with so many outlets for free (in those days) airing of boxing there was more likely to be a greater interest in the sport and better purses to be negotiated for the fighters.

If you only have one outlet I can guarantee you the fighters will start to feel it in their purses as competition is the only driving force that will buy better bargaining positions for them.

Without competition you get either a monopoly or a cartel as Frank Warren knows we had in boxing under Lawless, Duff, Barrett and can’t remember the other chap, in the 1970’s!

I feel boxing is most healthy when there is competition…
Right now Showtime vs HBO, Golden Boy vs Top Rank, Warren vs Hearn and many more to be honest.

Long live compettion in boxing…..

I was one of those who petitioned Setatnta Sports to get us a boxing channel and whilst Box Nation is a start, it has only scratched the surface of what us genuine boxing fans have wanted to see from such a station…. But, it is a start!!!!!
