Once Again, JuanMono is no longer in the title-mix. his last opponent had 25 losses including 17 by KO. Curious Juan is nothing but a peripheral contender, at best. he’s not a part of any discussion regarding featherweight title-bouts besides the MFCCNA title, i.e., The Mexican Fighting Cabbies Council of North America (LoL) . . . “Cannn-Tah y no Llores”.

As long as Abner Mares isn’t allowed to do what he does best.. Low Blows then it should be an EZ win for Ponce Deleon but if Abner Low Blow Mares is allowed to pull an agbeko then it’ll be a long night for Ponce Deleon… I’m hoping Low Blow wins so Rigo, JuanMa or Gamboa can get their hands on this dirty bastard…

Well, I favor Mares in this matchup but it’s going to be a tough fight for both men.

Two Tijuana Cantina drunks “per month” is nothing to be proud of… his record is a joke.. just go to BOXREC and check out his record.. most of those bogus wins are not even confirmed and started when he was 13 years Old??? ROFLM-fkn-AO….

Chill everyone. I’m puerto rican and i think tumbo’s comments are funny. People need humor in their lives. We know we are lazy and graffiti is our life, what’s a little humor going to do? Nothing. So chill out!

“[the great Canelo] was fighting two a month..” let’s see if JuanMono will risk keeping up. i doubt the little crybaby can survive the competition. no more Bobfather to protect this hype-job from what he caN’T accomplish.

Oh, and JuanMa did knockhimdafkoutCold like he did to Ponce Deleon and Luevaneu… flat on his face in front of all those Chihuahuas…

That Mexican had a better record then 3/4ths of the bums Canelo fougth in Mexican cantinas, it’s a laughable record.. What did they have 0-2 losses?? CinnaBum was fighting two a month.. BWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

i just figured out why no mention of JuanMono’s last opponent Eugenio Lopez. he had a record of 31 wins and 24 losses including 17 losses by KO and THIS is what PR fanboys are reduced to bragging about? . . . (LoL).

Btw, i seriously doubt that a billion Mexicans paid to watch that fight or whatever the outrageous estimate of the Mexican population you losers cling too to explain the crushed dreams of PR’s best fighters (lol). anyway, no matter. it’s Mano-a-Mano in a boxing ring. never mind the 1 billion(?) Mexicans you imagine peeking over Salido’s shoulder . . . (lol).

anyway, Mares and Rigondeaux are the top-dogs at bantam, Ponce is defending the featherweight hill, and no Puerto RicaN’Ts in sight. just like i posted about a year ago when i confidently predicrted the end of PR boxing . . . “Cannn-Tahhh y no Llores”.

Salido isn’t even a part of the discussion of serious title-contention at feather. why the f’k would JuanMono whose been KTFO by Salido twice in his own backyard and would be again if anyone would even pay to watch Salido do it a third time. Curious Juan has now been reduced to relying on taxi dispatchers in De-Efe for his opponents and his fanboys are bragging about it(?) Pffffft!?! . . . (LoL).

Ponce is a tough assignment for Mares… walk in the park, unless Ponce gets careless, which i doubt after what happened to him against Lopez…good matchup on paper….Mares also better bring his A-Game

He did pretty good against that Mexican in Mexico knockinghimdafkoutCold in front of his Mexican Fans… It’s just a matter of time before JuanMa kicks some More Mexican culito again…

Posted April 30, 2013 2:22 pm

Public Enemy – It’ll take him a while before he gets back to where he WAS…..he was knocked stupid, I mean, whooped so bad that he blamed the ref for Salido punching him in the face.

Tumbo – JuanMa Destroyed an unbeaten Ponce DeLeon, he Destroyed a hyped Mexican Leauvanu.. He lost to Salido but we all know Salido was convicted of using steriods.. but he still put Salido on his ASS… and he just went to Mexico and knockedafkoutCold a Mexican in front of all your people.. not bad… I’d say JuanMa will be back soon kickin alot of Mexican Culito…

Posted April 30, 2013 1:07 pm

Titopa this point, JuanMa is in the back of the line…KO’d TWICE by Salido, back to square one homie. As for Ponce, he’s done well, he’s rebuilt himself a bit and has a REAL shot here. This should be a good scrap.

Posted April 30, 2013 11:57 am

E, that is a reasoned analysis on that fight its RARE that you actually see that on this site… I would never argue that Broner blew out or dominated Ponce but alas Ponces body attacks are often not gonna garner the same attention or “Oooohhhh Ahhh” effect that flashy headshots will… EVERY fighter wins a close one in his career and that was Broners against a World Class foe… To his credit he has NOT made much of anything close since then… Broner has moved up to WW and and this point its safe to say he would kill Ponce De Leon…

JuanMono’s been exposed as a hype-job in his own backyard, Twice. he no longer belongs in a conversation about serious title-contenders.

Ponce didn’t beat Broner’s @ss or vise versa. Broner did receive some very generous scorecards(a gift) in that fight & it wasn’t the first. Ponce deserved a win or at least a draw/rematch. The modern promotion machine likes to overlook these fights. Don’t forget Ponce came up a division as a former Super Bantam title holder to face the heavily backed house fighter & won/drew with him UN-officially.

This fight will boil down to whether or not Abner Mares is allowed to fight dirty or not.. If he isn’t Ponce Deleon may pull an upset if Abner is left to fight rough and dirty then Ponce Deleon will have a tough night…

Posted April 30, 2013 11:04 am

Ponce De Leon did NOT beat Broners ass he gave a young fighter a tough night that ultimately made him a better fighter.. By the latter rounds when Broner was taking measure of Ponces long winging shots he was tagging him hard to the face… Ponce is a World Class fighter who proved to be an invaluable piece of the now extremely difficult puzzle that is Adrian Broner look at how he destroyed Champion De Marco at a HIGHER weight and how former 140 pounder Gavin Rees was blasted out in SHORT (no pun intended, ok maybe a little) order…. Mares vs De Leon is going to be a FUN fight and part of an EXCELLENT fight card showcasing boxings PREMIER star and a man who was “Fighter of the Year” when he was 21 and is P4P #1 at the age of 36 Floyd Mayweather Jr…. Thankfully Floyd and Pacquiao have kept eyes on boxing along with Cotto and guys like Broner and Canelo bringing up the real…

Posted April 30, 2013 9:46 am

This could be a great fight, both real exiting fighters both come to fight hard.

Posted April 30, 2013 3:48 am

Broner may run in to trouble again when he fights a legit opponent, but though Paulie has skills I’m just not sure his feather fists will discourage Broner at all. Then again, it is WW now and not lightweight so Broner may be in for a surprise, even against Paulie, who did knock out Senchenko last time for his belt.

Posted April 29, 2013 10:03 pm

JuanMa did ice Ponce De Leon, but to be fair Ponce has bounced back nicely. Among other things he gave Adrien Broner absolute hell in their matchup. All the same, I expect Mares to soundly beat Ponce De Leon on Saturday and render the whole question a moot point. Sad thing is, as long as GBP and Top Rank ignore each other we’ll never find out who is number one in this and many other weight classes. But Mares is up there, and figures to solidify his status as top 3 on Saturday night.

All that being said JuanMa did knock this Mexican dafkoutCold in round 1 right??? and he wasn’t shot like he is now… Maybe we’ll see a JuanMa vs Abner Low Blow Mares if he survives Ponce DeMojon… and what ever happened to that other Mexican JuanMa left crumpled up in the corner.. Luevanu???

Edit> IIRC, he put a real beat down on Broner despite the fact he was making his pro debut and had a completely non-existent amateur career.

Gonzo of Nazareth

Didn’t that Ponce Don guy take Adrien ‘The Granny Basher’ Broner to school a couple of years ago? Or am I confusing him with another Mexican chap? Actually, that reminds me.. I’m fairly certain Broner also got tooled by another Mexican earlier on in his career too. I think the chap’s name was Quintero or something. IIRC, he put a real beat down on Broner despite the fact he was making his pro debut and hadn’t even had a completely non-existent amateur career, which is even more shameful and embarrassing for Broner when you take into consideration he an extensive amateur career .. in excess of over 300 amateur (not including his ‘unlicensed’ fights against frail old ladies of course back when he was literally fighting for a purse).

he may be the underdog but i’m going with Ponce by TKO, any round. i’ll concede that Mares should be favored. he’s a quick-fisted, unrelenting, bad-ass little vato. his in-your-face combo-punching, movement, and stamina makes him a favorite to swarm Ponce but when he gets reckless, Ponce is going to make him Pay; that’s just Ponce’s fight-game; and he’s actually improved instead of declined. with the exception of the flash-KO v. Lopez, he’s relatively unscathed. few dare engage him in a shootout. he may be at his peak. for these reasons i’m going with Ponce. he’ll be able to jab and stun Mares with his southpaw Left. Mares will dig-in but Ponce will put in the work to the head and body and still have the Punch to stun Mares later to finish the fight. anyway, that’s what he’ll have to do to defeat Mares. this is another staged collision between two evenly-matched locomotives (e.g., Rios v. Alvarado). i’m going with Ponce.

Posted April 29, 2013 9:12 pm

I like Abner to win also but I have a different view of his capabilities; to me, he’s a good all around boxer, intensely tenacious with a super strong mental make-up & will to win. Look at his face in that picture, a face that says:i don’t care how big you are & how hard you punch, bring it on! Mentally, this kid is up there with BHops, Floyd, Bradley & Holyfield; the word “losing” has never crossed this kids mind…Mares is a winner.

Correctamundo I pick Mares to win by employing the same tactics you mentioned.

Posted April 29, 2013 8:21 pm

kudos to CORRECTAMUNDO for being the first to dare make a prediction on this one.

Posted April 29, 2013 8:18 pm

I’ll take Mares. He knows how to use MMA tactics and get away with it. That shows HIGH IQ and SKILL although its not Boxing SKILL. Nevertheless he finds a way to land Punches which is the name of the Game. He nullifies his opponents Offense by employing MMA tactics and even street Fight tactics….But he knows how to get away with it SO more power TO him….. Mares by ANY means necessary.

“Didn’t Juan . . .” who? JuanMono!? that boy is busy working his way up the ranks of Mexican cab drivers since getting his ass KTFO in his own backyard. he no longer has the clout to challenge the likes of Ponce or even request a hometown bout and he BETTER keep the F’k away from Mares who is a quicker, stronger, younger version of Salido. Mares could possibly kill Curious Juan if they ever met. Ponce got cold. no big. Ponce got back in the gym and has steadily worked his way back into contention. including his most recent win v. Jhonny Gonzalez. these are title-bouts and they’re not handed out like welfare entitlements. Btw, how do you starve a Puerto Rican to death? Hide his food stamps under his work shoes.

Didn’t JuanMa Knock this guy out Cold??? He’s a worn shot fighter..

Wasent JuanMa the same one that got his ass handed to him twice in Puerto Rico by Salcido in front of his home crowd and than cryied that that is was the referi’s fault he got whopped on because the referi had a gambling problem……PE, stick to baseball cause your boricuas are non existant in boxing…

PE – another example of mexican having to fight each other because there isn’t enough of your boyz around if any to kick some more boricua culito..Lol!

Posted April 29, 2013 6:55 pm

Public Enemy – It’s cause of Golden Boy and Arum….that’s why, and Ponce isn’t a shot fighter, sure, he was stopped by Juanma in 1 round, but he was cold, not saying he would’ve won, but it’s hard to tell how well someone would fare in a fight when they’re knocked out that quick, Quintana out boxed Williams for 12 rounds and yet ended up getting stopped in the first round of the rematch…so, you never know.

Posted April 29, 2013 6:42 pm

Mares can’t fight Rigo cause of Arum. They already tried to make Mares and Nonito and offered 3 mil and Arum turned it down and Rigo made less than a mil and Nonito made about a mil

it’s very difficult to imagine Ponce being defeated by Mares’ swarming strategy and difficult to imagine Mares absorbing too many flush-shots from Ponce. Ponce has demonstrated confidence (if not elite proficiency) in his boxing ability and even Mares must know that it would be suicidal to simply charge down the barrels of Ponce’s cannons.i suspect that either one or both of these guys is going to execute a counter-intuitive fight-plan (e.g., Canelo v. Trout or Stiverne v. Arreola) that snuffs out the fuse of the mayhem that they’re expected to deliver v. each other. it’s an intriguing matchup and while i know what to expect, there’s a part of me that’s not expecting it. however, if either fighter begins to fall too far behind, they will revert to the styles that made them successful, which will make for an explosive collision of fighting ability and determination.

Posted April 29, 2013 5:56 pm

Broner beater v Mares.

Posted April 29, 2013 5:45 pm

This will be fight of the night. Don’t underestimate Ponce De Leon. He is a true puncher, and if Mares comes forward and goes toe to toe, he better be careful.
