Latinos = Mix of European Spanish, Indian and African blood.. There’s no such thing as a Mexican Latino.. Doesn’t exist… In Puerto Rico there’s a famous Statue dedicated to the Latino Heritage with a Spaniard, Indian and African.. Where are the tributes in Mexico to their African Roots????????????????????????????????????

“. . . with that Bogus Padded Record having fought no one of substance . . .” is what they say about EVERY Mexican fighter who apparently comes out of no where with an impressive record. that is until they walk on to a beach in PR, stroll to their favorite fighter’s neighborhood, and proceed to BEAT the tostones right out of’em (2 Times) in front of their family, friends, and loved ones leaving tear-streaked faces in their wake . . . “Cannn-Ta y no Llores”.

Canelo would knock Guerrero out. He’s too young, big, strong, and punches too hard. Cotto would even beat Guerrero, although it would be close. Guerrero wouldn’t get away with anything in MSG. Robert is easy to tag with jabs, straight rights, and uppercuts. Casamayor knocked the Ghost down with a jab. Cotto has a much better jab and would outpoint him. Floyd called Cotto his toughest fight. He got cracked a few times …. Cotto has been diminished by his last 2 fights, but I think he’ll go one more fight before he’s wraps it up. He’d like to go out a winner and Guerrero would make an interesting opponent after Floyd boxes his face off.

Posted April 9, 2013 2:34 am

Tumbo, Cotto was in line to fight him but got beat by Trout, right? I still think Cotto should fight him after this one is over, I think Red would win but it would be a good one.

“Everyone knows if he didn’t have Red Hair or light Skin . . . he’d be a no body..” but still enough to intimidate the likes of Cotto away from a PPV payday and definitely enough to pound Cintron into submission, i.e., the remnants of PR boxing.

Trout can say whatever he likes, that goes for all the haters as well, but the better phrase comes from a guy who goes by the name of Iron Mike…..”everyone’s got a plan until they get hit” There’s “no doubt” about it Trout will run when he does.

Posted April 8, 2013 5:29 pm

Not trying to be funny, but he kinda reminds me of Oppie from the Andy Griffin show. Anyway Trout better not leave this one to the Judges, and he is fighting in San Antonio? he better not leave it the judges. Just sayin.

Who is nothing great but the only guy Canelo has fought that is close to his true size that wasn’t old, tiny or shot… Trout should easily box Canelos Floppy pale Ears off.. just like Mosely did..

@ te tumbo. U make a valid point my friend. We will see how canelo does against a legit junior middle weight. Its goin to be a great fight

i can see that some are working overtime to conjure up some degree of suspense or intrigue for Canelo’s matchup v. Trout who is little more than the final stepping-stone before Canelo becomes UNavoidable. i’m actually surprised at the lack of “cherry-picking” criticism directed Canelo’s way except for the fact that Trout was able to successfully steal Canelo’s thunder by not only defeating Cotto first but also erasing Cotto from the ranks of A-list 154lbrs. that was supposed to be Canelo’s official entry to 154lb prominence. anyway, Alvarez will make a memorable statement v. Trout who he will pummel and punish for a convincing “W”. at which point, the suspense will be about what other 154lbr dares challenge Canelo for 154lb dominance. after all, neither Kirkland, Cotto, or Mayweather have been particularly eager to claim a PPV payday v. Alvarez, which is an indication of his standing among his peers.

Remeber a boxer will beat a puncher 2 out of 3 times. perfect example ali vs frazier. But canelo always has a punchers change. But skill defeats will more often then not. And trout has the skills to pay the bills no doubt!

Posted April 8, 2013 11:58 am

Neither boxers has done much to prove their worth but a good boxer usually beats a a good brawler. I saw Abril giving Rios a boxing lesson only to screwed by the judges I expect this fight to be pretty much the same, the face first brawler getting tagged and turned all night only for the judges to give it to the brawler and for your typical ESB boxing fans to fight over boxing stats, and who threw more telling blows etc. GBP have a lot riding on this young man, a robbery is on the cards I tell ya.

Hidalgo – so I guess we must look for Trout to call out Floyd after beating Canelo.

Posted April 8, 2013 10:50 am

“I think this is a 50/50 fight” I agree with you Peej. But in the end, I give the SD to Alvarez.

Posted April 8, 2013 8:58 am

Ray – Mayweather is not funning away from Canelo his just not having some wet behind the ears hype job giving him ultimatums while his has’t even faught a legitimate 154lbs on the division he claims his a champion. Canelo would be easy work, he gonna get his if he manages to get past Trout.

Posted April 8, 2013 8:38 am

Mike J

Either Trout has “wedding day jitters” or he’s that confident in a victory over Canelo. Im going with the latter. Canelo is young, strong, hungry champion, but he hasnt fought many with movement, much less fighters with movement, speed, and can box like Trout. As eager as we are see Canelo handle a fighter with movement, Im eager to see how trout will handle the consistent pressure of Canelo. This fight can look like Martinez-JCC Jr just as easily as it can look like Froch-Bute.

Posted April 8, 2013 6:48 am

How much power does Canelo have? He has a tough time getting rid of blown up jr Welters and welters. I haven’t really seen him just plain hurt someone. I haven’t seen trout do it neither but this is the first legit 154 pounder Canelo has fought. I think this is a 50/50 fight

Posted April 8, 2013 1:16 am

Trout sure is talking a lot, which means his nerves are getting the best of him because he knows he’s up against a young, strong, hungry lion that wants his title, and he will get it because Trout has no power, which will be his downfall. He has experience and better boxing skills, but he has no way of keeping Canelo off of him for 12 rounds. The early rounds will go to Trout, but I gurantee you that Canelo will go hard to the body and head and wear trout down before the 12th round. You can take this to the bank. Canelo stops Trout.

Posted April 8, 2013 12:39 am

Ok trout can you show us in the ring what are you going to do to Canelo I don’t give a eras ass for your predictions !! Let us see the fight and stop using your mouth!

Posted April 8, 2013 12:21 am

If Canelo fought Cotto, I believe Cotto would have been put to sleep. Lucky for him he fought Trout. Mayweather knows that and all you have to do is see why he avoids Canelo like the plague. Mayweather knows not to even go there.

Posted April 8, 2013 12:15 am

Mayweather vs Guerrero on paper sounds good but we all know how it will play out. Mayweather will more than likely be defensive and secure his win. No way is he stepping up to a hard hitter like Canelo. Cotto does have some power and you all saw that he did struggle a bit even though he “claimed” to purposely go toe to toe with him to make it intresting. That is why this time around he will not make that mistake again with Guerrero. Guerrero knows he has to put on that pressure like Cotto did and go to the body as well.

Posted April 8, 2013 12:09 am

Canelo is a live dog and hits hard. Cotto struggled with Trout because basicly its his time to retire and look at the height difference. Plus Trout does possess some boxing skills and that is the main reason why the Canelo and Trout fight seems intresting. Mayweather didnt do so well with Cotto. I feel that if Canelo would have fought Cotto alot of people would have picked Canelo to win that bout. It just so happened that Cotto THOUGHT Trout was a lower risk than taking on Canelo instead and that is mainly why the fight was made in the first place.

Posted April 8, 2013 12:04 am

“Guerrero is more dangerous than Canelo at THIS time”….. uh I dont know about that…

Posted April 7, 2013 11:54 pm

Trout looked WORSE vs. the NON CHAMPIONSHIP version of Cotto than Floyd looked vs. the CHAMPIONSHIP version. SO if Floyd looked vulnerable than Trout looked ready to be eaten.

Posted April 7, 2013 11:38 pm

Nope. ESPN has Guerrero as BETTER than Canelo and that’s all that matters really since Floyd is facing the BETTER opponent according to the EXPERTS at ESPN. YOU guys can agree with BEARS all you want. I agree with the EXPERTS.

Posted April 7, 2013 11:34 pm

“marquez just outboxed manny thats why you have to keep up with boxing”……..trout just outboxed cotto who made may look vulnerable at times. guerrero beat berto and berto is nothing so its like so what. your willing to go outside your “box” for marquez but somehow guerrero has accomplished more than trout who beat cotto? (which i think trout has done more to earn a shot at may by his cotto performance than little feather fist guerrero has done his whole career). seriously guerrero has nothing. its basically a david ortiz 2. its like a script at this point with mayweather. it just makes too much money. why not just go on with the scrip. and thats what they are doing.

Posted April 7, 2013 11:02 pm

he got more p4p votes at espn thats true but not many. guerrero didnt make the top ten at espn which is all that matters really. and whats that saying. i’ve just spelled out for you why i dont think guerrero is better than canelo by any dimension or metric. why canelo would be a better fight. canelo is more skilled the tape doesnt lie. canelo is bigger faster better technique and stronger. guerrero is smaller, slower, wide open, and beyond feather fisted. can you tell me where guerrero looks better than canelo because to be honest i cant even remotely see that? is it just because of ring tv and ring magazine’s p4p ranking? or because guerrero got a couple votes at espn? what do you think will happen to those votes when guerrero looks inept against mayweather and canelo defeats austin “the cotto conquering” trout?…………(disclaimer: not that i ever thought cotto was all that)

Posted April 7, 2013 10:58 pm

BEARS-Again even the EXPERTS at ESPN have Guerrero as BETTER than Canelo at THIS time SO I’m going to roll with THEM not YOU. YOU are an AMATEUR.

Posted April 7, 2013 10:51 pm

I scoffed at the Ring ratings because I knew what REALLY happened while the Ring must reflect the actual WINNER. JMM just out Boxed Pacquiao in the 3rd Fight SO Marquez had already proven to be the BETTER Fighter. That’s why you have to keep UP with Boxing.

Posted April 7, 2013 10:49 pm

Austin Trout is in for a surprise. Like I’ve said numerous times before, once he feels Canelo’s power, he won’t engage. He’ll hunt and peck and hug and run. But he’ll still lose to the Cinnamon kid.

Posted April 7, 2013 10:36 pm

“guerrero has a piss poor stoppage rate as well. ” This is true Bears, as I just pointed out in a previous post.

Posted April 7, 2013 10:34 pm

Oh yeah, and Andre Berto. You know, the fool that the fool Ortiz beat, who then got promptly sucker-punched KO’d by Mayweather? Oh yeah, Guerrero is so great…..Hardly!

Posted April 7, 2013 10:33 pm

boxy-we both love boxing but we see things very differently much of the time. now my perspective is that of a die hard fan who thoroughly examines tape. guerrero doesnt have the canelo following or the canelo attention, or the canelo articles for a reason. he is simply not better and he is also smaller. guerrero has a piss poor stoppage rate as well. this represents absolutely NO RISK for mayweather and claiming that it does. just makes me laugh bro. but i know you love the sport so it is what it is i guess.

Posted April 7, 2013 10:32 pm

BEARS- I respect your AMATEUR opinion but even the EXPERTS at ESPN have Guerrero as BETTER than Canelo at THIS time. SO I’m going to have go ahead and roll with THEIR opinion over YOURS.

Posted April 7, 2013 10:26 pm

guerrero vs salido where guerrero is thoroughly outboxed by the serial looser salido on the undercard of mayweather vs baldomir. also guerrero was beaten by and outboxed by gamaliel diaz. have you heard of him? me neither. beats eric aiken for an ibf trinket. beats jason litzau for a trinket. fights malcolm klassen for the super feather trinket, have you heard of him? me neither. then fights the heavily worn katsidis who is just thoroughly beat down for the lightweight trinkets. pretending that guerrero has done something great or anything to warrant a top ten p4p is foolish. picking up trinkets means nothing. we have 4 weight divisions. very fragmented.

Posted April 7, 2013 10:08 pm

zurdo-CORRECT. Floyd has guaranteed money for 6 Fights now SO he can take the MOST dangerous opponent each bout. SKILLS is more dangerous than SIZE and therefore Guerrero is more dangerous than Canelo at THIS time.

Posted April 7, 2013 9:43 pm

BEARS-Go take a LOGIC class. Which NON Top Rank WW has done MORE at Welter than Guerrero??? Guerrero is not only Top 9 P4P but he’s also Floyd’s mandatory Challenger. Nothing needs to be sold by ME. I just tell the TRUTH. The TRUTH sells ITSELF.

Posted April 7, 2013 9:41 pm

Which fight would make more money ?? Floyd-Guerrero or Floyd-Canelo?? According to P4P Rankings who is more dangerous Guerrero or Canelo?? Does Canelo want fight Floyd?? The conclusion is: Floyd wants a valueble victory in a high risky fight and let the money aside. Actually, Does somebody could believe that???? Really…..

Posted April 7, 2013 9:32 pm

So… Fight Risks and valuable challengers are based just in p4p rankings… No size, no weight, no style, no physical conditions, just p4p ranking. Interseting… very interesting.

BEARS-The Ring is the most accurate Ranking system in the ENTIRE Sport of Boxing. Even YOUR trusted ESPN has him as BETTER than Canelo and Trout. You can CRY all you want that Oscar bought the Ring. The FACT is that the Ring has remained very accurate till this DAY. YOU of all people should agree with the Ring that Guerrero is Top 10 P4P….He came STRAIGHT UP from LW and beat an EASTERN EURO WW. Because SKILLS is more important than SIZE!!!

Posted April 7, 2013 8:04 pm

MY P4P formula didn’t fail me. Rios and Alvarado are BOTH #0 P4P. Alvarado improved his Boxing IQ and took the WIN. That’s what it takes. SKILLS and Boxing IQ are the Top 2 Factors in Boxing.

Posted April 7, 2013 8:01 pm

As for Trout vs. Canelo the Fight hinges on Canelo’s ability to cut off the Ring. In other words his footwork and footspeed will be tested in this Fight. His footspeed hasn’t been very impressive THUS FAR but I think that he’s smart enough to be working on that. He won’t have it perfected but he’ll keep it close enough to warrant the ROBBERY.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:59 pm

Floyd weighed in at 154 against Cotto then came to the ring weighing in at 147. Those guys are too big. Like I’ve said many times before there is more money at 154. If those guys could make 154 then that’s where they would be fighting at in my opinion.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:58 pm

If Cotto, the short man, could find his target on Trouts face, Canelo will surely knock him out cold. Trout likes to mix it up and it will be in those momenst when Canelo will catch him. It will be only a matter of time in the fight before Trout hits the canvas.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:57 pm

Boxtra- I asked u what ortiz was ranked p4p before he fought mayweather. Let me guess your garbage ring tv website and floyds promoteing partner goldonboy have guerero ranked p4p. No unbiased ranking system has him ranked. Examples espn and skysports. And getting a couple votes is not ranked. Guerrero is not ranked top 10 p4p by anyone reputable. Go to espn or sky and tell me who guerrero should supposedly be rated higher than. Your a garbage man who’s p4p formula faled him last weekend in fight forecasting. Alvarado tok it clearly. Bahahahahaah!

The Ortiz Fight was a MASTERPIECE! Something that should be shown to Kids across the World!!

Don’t match EVIL for EVIL. You destroy the ILLEGAL assailant with LEGAL tactics.

HIGH Boxing IQ trumps HOT headedness and FEAR. Ortiz KNEW what he was IN for SO he tried to DO anything to not take the beating that was coming.

Floyd is a SHARK. Ortiz wanted out and looked away in the SHARK’s FACE and got eaten UP. Always stay on your P’s & Q’s kiddies. Protect yourselves at ALL times inside the Boxing Ring.

KMStar – I agree that Canelo has much better technique than Lacy and has much better punch variation etc but I was drawing a comparison between this fight and a previous fight containing another overrated hypejob. There definitely won’t be such a gulf in class between Trout and Canelo as there was between Calzaghe and Lacy but I can definitely see Trout peppering the flat footed Canelo from the outside. It’s obviously easy for everyone to side with the favourite, but in this case, I think the odds should favour Trout.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:50 pm

Guerrero is ranked #9 P4P. What A DOPE BEARS is. Mayweather vs. Guerrero is #1 P4P vs. #9 P4P. Canelo vs. Trout is #0 vs. #0…. But you MAY be CORRECT. It COULD be a BETTER Fight because Floyd is SO GREAT that the gap between HIM and the #9 rated Fighter in the Sport is WIDER than the gap between the two #0 P4P rated Fighters.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:48 pm

This is why it makes it all more intresting to watch. Can Canelo adjust to Trout? Can Trout take Canelo’s punches? etc… My money is on Canelo of course.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:44 pm

Peej- but thanks for ur perspective peej. I obviously disagree on floyd. I think he’s more of a fraud. Not making the bests fight available. Which from a boxing fans standpoint its garbage. But the guys making big money so I obviously see his rational. But I see it for what it is and I don’t line his coffers or praise the weak garbage like the matchmaking floyd does.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:38 pm

The Greatest – let’s be real my man Canelo has way better technique than Jeff Lacy did back when he was the next big thing. I understand why someone may pick Trout to win, but that post just made no sense to me at all.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:38 pm

Peej- I don’t need u to roll out the multiple excuses for mayweather. Yes martinez and I’m sure even golvkin could meet him at 154. Which isn’t a big climb for may who’s fighting guy who was two fights ago fighting at like 128. Mayweather has weighed in the 150s. Mayweathers pre approved showtime cherry picking list with guerrero at the top is utter garbage. As I said pac, martinez, canelo, trout, golovkin could pretty much all be made. Butmayweather says things like “I have to make a living” when he demanded way more money to fight pac indicating fear of a possible loss. Floyds matchmaking reeks of fear of possible loss that’s why he fights the ortiz’s and gueerero’s of the world. Floyd is yet to put on a ppv worth buying in my views. But u know the brothers will be buying up floyds fights so it will sell. Floyd vs guerrero pales in comparrison to canelo vs trout. Floyd has been a purveyor of garbage for ome time now. Proud to say I don’t buy garbage. Maybe the floyd vs guerrero will be another non fight of a bout and rob the fans again like ortiz was. What a garbage bout that was. I wouldn’t even call it a fight.

I have a feeling this fight might look like Calzaghe-Lacy all over again. Canelo is possibly the most overhyped fighter in boxing today (as was Lacy) and although he’s more mobile at his weight than Lacy was, he has never fought a fast, elusive world class southpaw who can fire off multi-ounch combos a la Trout. I’m telling you all right now, I have ‘no doubt’ Trout is going to box this one dimensional hype jobs’ ears off.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:27 pm

Trout easily beat Cotto by landing the MOST punches but Cotto landed the most EFFECTIVE Punches in that Fight by FAR. IF Cotto can land the most Effective Punches then SO can Canelo….unlessTrout took notes from Floyd MUCH BETTER than Berto DID.

the bookies like canelo, this is not a pic’em proposition.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:16 pm

Trout doesn’t have a spectacular KO recotd but it does not mean he can’t punch. He just doesn’t fight swinging for the fences. He hits hard enough to KO Canelo. Canelo hits hard enough to KO Trout. Trout easily beat Cotto – this will be a very tough test for Canelo and if he beats Trout he will be proving he is a top rated fighter and not all about hype.

Posted April 7, 2013 7:11 pm

Well you can look at Canelos record and pretty much say the same thing about name recognition

Posted April 7, 2013 7:10 pm

Yeah and next you’ll want Floyd vs Ward also. GGG had never made 154 so not sure why people talk about that fight, Martinez can’t make 154 as his weighing in at 170 for his pre way in shows. Pac rejected the fight cause of the testing. So stop the foolery. If you don’t like Floyd then don’t buy the PPV which in case you didn’t know is the leading PPV seller under heavyweight

Posted April 7, 2013 7:09 pm

God – I look at Trout’s record and the names are terribly unimpressive until he beat Delwin Rodriguez and Miguel Cotto. Reminds me of why I bet on Cotto to win in the first place. That being said he’s been fighting Jr Middleweights while Canelo has been fighting Jr. Welterweights and Welterweights so I suppose I have to give the man his due. I favor Alvarez to win slightly but only because I don’t see Trout getting the decision again against a popular fighter ala Cotto (who he beat for sure but I thought the judges were going to give it to Miguel anyway).

Posted April 7, 2013 7:04 pm

This is the fight I’m most looking forward to right now. Definition of a pick ’em fight and while I don’t know who will prevail as long as both guys give it their all we should be in for a classic.

I do believe Canelo has been rocked once but the problem was that he was fighting a blown up 140 or 147 lbr. Canelo has yet to fight a real 154lb fighter. Trout has fought as high as 160 and has won. So the question is can Canelo handle a legitimate 154/160lb fighter
