Klitschko vs Jennings: Bryant looking for a KO over Wladimir

Bryant Jennings landed himself the biggest fight of his career vs unified champion Wladimir Klitschko when he beat Mike Perez last year. Jennings is certainly a big underdog going into this fight as he is the shorter, lighter and far less experienced fighter, however he is undefeated and is sporting some good wins to his credit.

Bryant Jennings could certainly steal the limelight from his fellow American boxer Deontay Wilder with a win in this fight. Wilder bagged himself a ton of fans when he beat Bermane Stiverne for the WBC heavyweight strap in their bout, but a win over the long time lineal champ would be far more impressive. This would be the eighteenth consecutive defence should Klitschko be able to pull it off and a loss would certainly be one of the biggest upsets for years.

Jennings is counting on a KO to cement this upset. In an interview with ThaBoxingVoice he commentated saying that the KO punch could come at any time and could come in a number of ways including the uppercut, an overhand right or even a straight right hand. For me I agree that he would need a KO to win this one.

Klitschko is too well conditioned and too consistent to lose on points, but we have seen him suffer from chin problems in the past. Granted his defence has improved to the point where his chin is rarely tested in today’s world but with Jennings long arms he may be able to get a shot.

The likely scenario here is that Klitscko defeats yet another undefeated opponent and moves on to a far bigger clash with either his WBO mandatory Tyson Fury who is taller and heavyier than Klitschko and has a better resume than Jennings, or WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Each of these would be a great fight and its just a question of time until they happen.
