BTW, I scored the fight 115-111 Abril. It should have been a UD win for Abril.

I meant to say “OR hearing Tony Weeks…”

“Mora had no control over the fight.” Yeah, and I don’t know what annoys me more: Watching Mora act like he’s a referee and hearing Tony Weeks yell “I got you!” instead of “Break!” The things these refs get away with amazes me.

“That guy is completely incompetent.” You got that right, Srminimo. And to top it off, “retired” corrupt, careless referee Joe Cortez came along and put in his two BS cents worth. I have to agree with Hecdog on Paulie’s commentating this fight too. He sucked and it was clear to me that he was playing up to both Mora and Cortez. Paulie is no fool–Cortez may be retired but Mora could end up reffing Paulie’s next fight. Not wise to piss of the ref. Especially when he’s you-know-who!

“hidalgo secretly wants to be broner…” LMAO! No thank you. He does just fine making a fool of himself all by his original lonesome.

PEDcquiao is GOAT

Yeah Borgere looked like Guerrero in there.

oh yeah and Mora sucks

Disgusting refereeing job by Russel Mora. He continues to be one of the most pathetic boxing referees that I have ever had the displeasure of watching. I thought Abril really made great adjustments to Bogere’s dirty tactics, especially the intentional headbutting and holding Abril while hitting him, often on the back of the head. Still, Abril didn’t use his jab nearly enough and whether he knows it or not, he didn’t look so hot himself. It looked like that idiot Adrien Broner on the sidelines was rooting like a fool for Bogere, then slump dejected and quiet down into his seat as it became clear that Abril was dominating him and Bogere wasn’t going to win the fight. BTW, was it just me that saw Broner’s girlfriend become embarassed because of the way Broner was acting and dancing around? Oh well. Maybe Broner will grow up some day.

Bogeres punches looked like they did not affect Abril at all. As a matter of fact he looked like a child in there. Ive seen Bogere fight and he seemed to have some skills just didn’t have the stamina. Here is was just wailing punches away with no form at all

Fight Aficionado

From what I hear the fight was utter crap and so was Russell on the undercard. Who’d stay in on a Saturday night to watch a card that was horrible on paper and worse in reality? We went out to a tequila bar and didn’t consider watching this. Last I heard guys at Twitter were griping about how horrible it was, but still watching for some reason.

Keep in mind that Breidis Prescott has a win over Abril….how about Prescott vs Abril 2 ?

Posted March 3, 2013 5:34 pm

Say what u want about Bogere, but clearly, Abril did very little to distinguish his assets, particularly in the first 6 rounds.

Posted March 3, 2013 4:57 pm

What made me laugh was the fact the Bogere said he had actually thought he won the fight. Now this is the first time i have seen Bogerre fight and to say he is unskilled is premature but yesterday he looked like a schoolgirl with no technique!

Ned – u never know what ur gonna get when two contrasting styles get together. See the above post then see u-tube.

Mora should never again be allowed to act as a referee. No fighter’s career should be put at risk because of an incompetent or corrupt referee. Enough is enough!

Strauss, btw, I’d prefer watching Ray Robinson and Ray Leonard over guys like Carmen Basillio and Vito Antifermo, but the later two made for some exciting fights, did they not?? Take your morals and your socialist cookie cutter to the gym and learn some boxing, then later, we’ll work on the politics and government!!

Posted March 3, 2013 3:24 pm

Paul Strauss you are a DUMB ACC!!! Again, DUMB ACC. Even though you write pretty well, your perspective is awful!! You can’t force your morals and preferred skill sets on the game…nobody can…that’s what makes it beautiful!! I’ll bet your a socialist!?? Apparently you’ve never heard that styles make fights!?? Apparently you’ve never heard of Willy Pep vs Sandy Sadler?!! If not, I’ll catch you up some…because of Sadler’s height and length, Willy Pep, maybe the most skilled/pure boxer ever, was forced to bum rush, close distance and make the ugliest fights of all time, each time he faced Sadler!!! Get some perspective and learn some boxing Strauss!!! You are a boxing tard!! a fighter has to do what he has to do to give himself the best chance of winning. If Abril had done better at establishing his length his face would probably be less marked this morning and he would’ve won a wider decision!

If I want to watch MMA, I’ll watch MMA. This fight was billed as a boxing match, not a street fight without rules or skills. The referee should’ve taken control right from the beginning. Why does SHO keep televising these incompetent/corrupt events?

Posted March 3, 2013 2:57 pm

Incompetent and corrupt!!!

Posted March 3, 2013 2:49 pm

I HATE Russell Morra!!! He should never be allowed to ref again!! He IS incompetent!! I say this not because of last night, but because of the Donair v Montiel fight where Morra willingly allowed Montiel to nearly die. Last night’s fight was hard to officiate. My biggest criticism of Morra was that he should’ve taken points away, from both, sooner. It may have led to a KO.

Posted March 3, 2013 2:48 pm

I cant figure out if Mora is incompetent, corrupt, or both.
