third world

so everyone thinks kelly pavlik is a washed up club fighter when he’s only 30 years old and has only lost to sergio martinez and bernard hopkins by decisions.he was the undisputed middleweight champ and ended up under the dark cloud of drink and drug.big deal.he just needs a big fight and he will perform.i wouldn’t count him out quite yet.everyone said he was so lucky ward didn’t fight him.last time i checked, the great manny pacquiao was rendered unconscious by a 39 year old counterpuncher.bring on froch.bute is done.

Ward really has to stop ducking the ghost.

I hope you are right about Bute just needing to train basic skills, skills he should have at this point, but what worried me in Butes last fight, was that he looked and sounded scared to death. I mean, its just a case of looking at the pictures from Butes two last fights. Grachev was Butes chance to convince his fans that he is back, he did the opposite. His team ducking out of a rematch against Froch, at home in Canada, says a lot. Butes way back goes through the weak puncher, Ward, a technical fight, he could win, in his best form.

Pavlik’s career went down hill as soon as he bypassed MY advice to Fight Paul Williams. He was SO worried about the money split but I SAID that he would make MUCH more money on the back end after he knocked Williams out. Instead he refused to give Williams 50-50 SO Williams ended up taking on Martinez and that turned into a two episode Fight where Martinez gained the fame off of knocking Williams out instead of Pavlik…That’s what happens when you get too Big headed to see the Big Picture.

IF Pavlik takes the Fight I think thats SISSYFIED of him…He pulled out of the Fight when Bute was Undefeated. But now he’ll take the Fight since he’s seen Bute get knocked out…Anyways Bute will out Box Pavlik because he’s more elusive. Bute showed in his last Fight that he can hit and run for 12 rounds. Pavlik doesn’t have the foot speed to catch him. Pavlik needs to Fight guys that stay right in front of you like Abraham….But someone LESSER than Abraham because AA would knock Pavlik out.

Bute needs to box much better… Pavlik needs to attack much better and harder… Better than he’s done lately.

I certainly want to see Bute-Pavlik…. Bute certainly isn’t going to go away just because he suffered a brutal loss. He’s a hard worker and has probably watched the Froch fight a thousand times. He’s probably said to himself, “OK, the strength isn’t there. The defense isn’t there.. The clinching skills just aren’t there” and so forth.. He and his trainers have probably come up with a training program to address the problems. Pavlik is a risk, but Boxing is full of risks. They may think Kelly is a better bet than Dirrell, Rodriguez, or Stevenson. Kelly is hittable and knows what it’s like to lose. With Pavlik I just think he needs to train his ass off and attack like crazy for 12 rounds or less.

Who cares about Bute-Pavlik? Has been Vs Pretended to be.

I am not saying that Bute is a hype job, I am saying that he is at the level of Magee, Pavlik, Abraham, in his best shape, but that shape is absolutely gone, and so does his team seem to think, so whats the point of going on, besides money. It would be a mistake for Bute to pick Abraham right now. I think most people thought that Bute was better than he actually was and is. Bute surely did not convince anybody against Grachev. At this point I see Bute asa vulnerable fighter.

Fight Aficionado

If Pavlik goes through with a Bute fight it’s a pick em bout. Say what you want about Pavlik’s chances, between Ward and Bute he’s itching to fight the top guys at 168.

This is a great cross road fight for both guys. Pavlik hasn’t looked great in his last couple of fights, not like when he was coming up vs similar opposition and Bute has a ton to do to show he isn’t just a hype job with a big Canadian following. I like both fighters I think this is the perfect match up. Will Bute be able to keep Pavlik off balance and out box him or will Pavlik be too strong for Bute’s questionable [that’s being nice] chin.

Bute is actually older than Pavlik. It has been years since Pavlik faced top competition, so it remains to be seen whether he still has “it.” In order to destroy Bute, Froch needed to absorb and walk through his very hard punches. I am not sure Kelly can do that. Bute would have to be favored a bit.

Bute just needs to rebuild. He is a good fighter at this level but the Froch defeat was crushing ….. staying away from Froch for the time-being may be a good move. Anyway, it makes way for Froch-Kessler 2 which is a fight most people would prefer.

Posted December 30, 2012 8:02 am

Lets be honest, unless Bute shows up in his earlier best condition, mentally and physically, he should consider a career end. The Bute camp ducking a Froch rematch, tells the story of a fighter in trouble. I mean Kessler is going to England to fight Froch, without blinking, but Bute is not ready to fight Froch in Canada, to redeem himself? I, like many people, like Bute, but I don’t see a comeback for him. Even Pavlik could cause him trouble.

Tough fight for Bute, i’ll have huge respect for Bute if he takes this fight.

It would certainly make a Froch bout in fall more appealing if Bute beats Pavlik.

Posted December 30, 2012 5:37 am

Froch didn’t just beat Bute, he destroyed him… Froch didn’t clobber anyone in the Super Six that way, not even Jermain Taylor. Froch laid down the blueprint for fighting this guy.

Go after Bute like he slapped your mother and beat him into the canvas straight away. That sounds like the kind of job Pavlik used to thrive on before he got rich and famous.

I’ve seen all of Bute’s fights live(except romania and uk ones) and Bute will KTFO Pavlik who , also, as been ducking Bute before and will probably do it another time. Pu#$ywhip Pavlik

I ll definitely pay for that one, both figthers are way better than people think! Abraham would be a much easier fight for Pavlik but it wont happen !

Red Ryan

Pavlik will destroy Brute, no problem…..

Posted December 29, 2012 3:10 pm

After watching King Arthur in his best fight ever, precise heavy combinations, in a fight with much AA aggression, Pavlik should go with a shot Bute. He has a 50/50 chance there. King Arthur will destroy Pavlik, in his present condition. AA seems to have finally become a real smw. It says a lot that Pavlik (a former name) is someone both Bute and Abraham thinks they can beat.

Somebody posted that this fight shoulda occurred vs the now defunct Ward fight. They posted it down in the Ward/Pavlik comment section. Whoever it was good call.

Bute desperately needs this fight. He’s a far better fighter than anyone Pavlik has ever beaten, but the Nottingham debacle truly cut him deep. Froch had Bute beaten in the week leading up tot he fight b/c Bute is a very personable fighter as he seeks the approval of the guys he ktfo. He tries to be their best friends and when Froch shunned his approach at friendship, and the UK fightfans did so as well, Bute looked as if his dog died, genuinely hurt emotionally.
He’s gonna need to rebuild his killer instinct if he’s gonna be the best SMW/LHW of this era, and bringing Pavlik to Montreal and KHTFO would be a shot in the arm for him.
Not saying it’s gonna happen, but I’m already smelling a duck from team Pavlik as they’re also negotiating with a far more winnable fight against the one trick pony, Abraham.

I’m not saying Pavlik will definitely win but he has a much better shot against Bute, than he would’ve against Ward. If the Pavlik of about four to five years ago can somehow return I could picture him beating Bute in similar fashion to how Froch did. But with Pavlik you never know.

Bute-Pavlik sounds like a good matchup. The winner will be hugely back in the title picture.

Boxing Barlow

I’d rather see Pavlik Abraham too

The Kingslayer

I’d rather see Pavlik vs. Abraham, it’s a fight I’ve wanted to see for years. Frankly Bute would just outbox Pavlik in a dull decision, Pavlik isn’t as ferocious or big enough to pressure Bute like Froch did.

Look at Froch’s performance against Bute, this could be a winnable fight for KP. With KP though, its a wait and see approach…
