Let’s be honest
Real happy for Sam, but let’s face it Middleweight is a very week division, there’s GGG, Martinez and a bunch of amateurs, there would be a dozen guys from light and super middle who would beat Soliman, Geale, Macklin, Quillan, Sturm etc at 160lbs. It wasn’t that long ago that we were bagging Mundine for taking easy fights against B-grader Soliman. Hard to call yourself world champ when there’s a local guy younger than you that’s beaten you 3 out of 3 times including a brutal KO. Australia’s 3rd best middleweight and world champion. Respect for his longevity and fitness.Posted June 8, 2014 10:06 pm
Yeh ray ray great win. Hopefully geale gets the job done with GGG and we get a home unifying title fight. Be one of the biggest fights in auz if not the biggest!Posted June 7, 2014 5:47 am
Mick the Marmalizer
This division deffinatly requires unification. Hopefully the winner of Golovkin/Geale get Soliman this year.Posted June 7, 2014 3:05 am
2 funny….sturm got what he deserved. Rubbishing sams name 1st time around. R.I.P Felix. Congrates 2 king solimon always the brides maid….good 2 c he stuck with it & got that elusive world title.Posted June 7, 2014 1:49 am
I Tarked My Pants
Geale will go on to unify titles again against Soliman, after exposing the myth GGG. Soliman and Geale are both too much for the GGG oompah loompah, howdy doody looking hype job.Posted June 7, 2014 1:46 am
Golovkin will fight Soliman after he knocks out Geale. I just hope the boxing org’s quit making bums their mandatories. Golovkin wants to fight Soliman for the unified titles………………….Golovkin by knockout!!!Posted June 7, 2014 1:39 am
Sammy should match up with Peter Q …..Posted June 7, 2014 12:33 am
Soliman is a bald headed roids rager. Tested positive after the first fight and wisely phased out the juice in time for the rematch.
You’re a D1ck if you really believe that Fight Avocado .Sammy was obsessively set up by the bent Germans …..Get a grip you fool ……….!Posted June 7, 2014 12:31 am
About time ESB paid tribute to Sammy ……..There was acknowledgment at all after his victory ……..What were you guys waiting for his B sample to clear ? ………. Fantastic too see the Soliman win a world title after years and years of toil …Ive had the pleasure of sparring with him ..And talking to him and I can tell you Sam is one of a kind ………Posted June 7, 2014 12:29 am
Sammy is the king no doubt about it, beat the German in his own backyard, in the biggest cheating country in the sport. All hail king sammyPosted June 7, 2014 12:22 am
@piechucker he wasn’t tested negative. He was tested positive for the same substance as before. Only that all of a sudden he choose to only accept the doping list of the Ibf (or whatever belt it was) and guess what. The ibf did not have the substance in their list. It was him who wanted to test olympic style before the fight. And they rate it as a banned substance. So what? It’s ok to the list you most like?Posted June 6, 2014 8:47 pm
fight afficianado has lost my respect. you believe that sh1t? what a letdown. Sammy isn’t a drug cheat, which was proven when his B sample was independently tested in the states. you now become another hecdog which is a shame, because you often have some interesting things to sayPosted June 6, 2014 8:20 pm
Sammy is the king of the dirty Germans. There was no dirty test they lost it. Sturm an easy beat for any of the top AussiesPosted June 6, 2014 7:08 pm
You idiots. Sturm just beat barker and you all say gee he is hungry and back, now say he is done. You tossers sammy smashed a 90 percent sturm. Eat it upPosted June 6, 2014 7:06 pm
Soliman is a bald headed roids rager. Tested positive after the first fight and wisely phased out the juice in time for the rematch.Posted June 6, 2014 6:51 pm
Gee Bo Bo, what fight did you watch? Sturm was lucky to win 2-3 rounds as the first round was even and could have been scored for either fighter. Soliman dazed??? At best I’d say he felt a couple of punches a bit more but he was never in any trouble. Sturm was in more trouble than Soliman, can’t remember which of the middle rounds it was but Soliman had Sturm in serious trouble with a series of body shots and if he had of kept it up could possibly have scored a stoppage. For some reason just like Geale did in his fight Sturm, Sam didn’t carry on with the body work.Posted June 6, 2014 6:30 pm
Bo Bo Olson
Soliman won the fight in the mind….by making Strum want to knock him out….and Strum fought the wrong fight. I had it 7-5 for Soliman.
Strum dazed him a three times….once hard, but too late in the round to get him….the next round Soliman was back to bouncing around.
At last an article about Soliman winning his fight against Sturm.
A very good article, I don’t know of a more serving fighter of a title. The “AAA” theory on Soliman is so true having taken on fights outside his weight division and at short notice in other fighters backyards. He did it his way and it was the hard way! Sam winning a world title is so deserved and people are right, he won’t hold the title long because he will try and fight someone more talented like a Golovkin, hell he’d probably take a shot at Bernard Hopkins, Andre Ward, Carl Froch or Chavez Jnr if it was offered and he would not be disgraced against any these fighters. Sam has a win over Sakio Bika too! I hope he goes out in a blaze of glory and a big pile of cash too!Posted June 6, 2014 5:14 pm
I’m happy for Sam, he was able to make his dream come true. One of the first things he did after winning the title was let it be known that he wanted a fight with Gennady Golovkin. The man knows how to behave like a champion.Posted June 6, 2014 3:42 pm
my prayer for him is that God will hlpe him out. My man am wishing u goodluckPosted June 6, 2014 2:33 pm
another middleweight champ. just what the division needs.Posted June 6, 2014 1:41 pm
Sturm has been done for a year or so. I know it’s hard to quit. Good Luck to him.Posted June 6, 2014 12:40 pm
Time for Sturm to pack it in now he’s had a great career but lately he’s lost a lot of fights and losing to Soliman twice should signal the end for him. Well done to Soliman though he executed his fight plan perfectlyPosted June 6, 2014 11:35 am
Sturm had a bad night for sure. Soliman had a “normal” night vs. Sturm but that is not saying much. Soliman will not keep his belt long, can’t hit hard and is not a youngster. He is active in the ring but hits like a girl.Posted June 6, 2014 11:13 am
Big win for Soliman against the worst version of Sturm I’ve ever seen. Sturm should hang ‘em up.Posted June 6, 2014 10:35 am
