Sherman Williams ready for Evander Holyfield on January 22nd

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Jan. 11, 2011) – Veteran heavyweight Sherman “Tank” Williams (34-11-2, 19 KOs) will step into the ring with Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield on January 22 at the historic Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.

“My experience boxing Vladamir Klitschko for weeks on end has prepared me to fight the best in the world,” Williams said. “While I respect Evander’s experience in the ring with him having beaten Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes and Buster Douglas, I’m in the best shape of my career and I’m going to make it a very long night for Holyfield on Jan. 22.”

Williams, a sparring partner in the Klitschko camps for two years, will battle for Holyfield’s World Boxing Federation heavyweight title.

The event, Redemption in America will fuse championship boxing with world class entertainment, showcasing a high-energy production with music presented by Broadway performers, dancers and aerial artists..

“Our show will be a one-of-a-kind event – real pain, real boxing, real entertainment,” Redemption promoter Rick Lazes said.

The show will open with a performance of Ray Charles’ “America,” by Tony award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon, who will play the lead in the upcoming Broadway musical, “Unchain My Heart,” which chronicles the life of the late singer, Lazes said.

World-renowned saxophone player Clarence Clemons will also headline a live band between rounds and throughout the night.
