Wilder destroys Duhaupas
(Photo credit: Lucas Noonan/Premier Boxing Champions) WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) registered his 34th knockout of his career against a very tough Johann Duhaupas (32-3, 20 KOs) in stopping him in the 11th round on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Wilder, 29, hurt Duhaupas with some brutally hard uppercuts in the 11th round.
Tyson Fury Unsurprised by Klitschko Pull-Out
Tyson Fury remains unsurprised that Wladimir Klitschko has pulled out of their October 24th heavyweight clash citing a calf strain, causing the fight to be postponed.
The giant 6′ 9″ challenger predicted as much over two months ago, saying he wouldn’t be surprised if Wladimir did what David Haye did to him twice and pull out injured.
Jermell Charlo/Joachim Alcine Fight for PBC Halloween ‘Freak Show’
The latest mismatch to roll off of the Premier Boxing Champions production line pits unbeaten super welterweight contender Jermell Charlo (26-0, 11ko) against long faded 39 year old former world champion Joachim Alcine (35-7-2, 21ko), it was announced yesterday.
The fight will take place on NBC in the US, in Charlo’s Texas backyard. The date? October 31st, Halloween night – quite fitting for what is a freak-show of a match-up that can only seriously be described as akin to legalised murder!
Paul Malignaggi beats Laszlo Fazekas
On Saturday 26, Principe theater looked like an Italian soccer stadium for Paul Malignaggi’s fight against Laszlo Fazekas. The building was sold-out (550 people) and the fans rowdly supported Malignaggi who won on points after 8 rounds. Fazekas didn’t come to be just the opponent and he proved it hitting Malignaggi’s face many times. The Hungarian was also deducted a point for his rugged tactics (a couple of times it seemed that Fazekas wanted to make it a bar brawl). After the victory, fans surrounded Malignaggi asking for autographs and selfies. The dressing room was just a few meters away from the ring, but the Magic Man needed several minutes to reach it because of the crowd. He was also interviewed by ESPN who sent a journalist to Milan to write a piece for their website.

Matchroom Sign Chris Eubank Jr. / Boxing in October and December
For a week or so now, it’s been something of an open secret in boxing circles that interim WBA middleweight titlist Chris Eubank Jr will be signing with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Sport.
The news became official today with the ‘unveiling’ of the British legend’s son at a press conference in London, announcing that he will indeed box on both the October 24th Brook v Chaves bill in Sheffield, as well as making a second outing in December on the Joshua/Whyte card at the O2 as part of an initial 3-fight deal.
Kell Brook Will Also Win World Titles at 154 & 160 says Hearn
Matchroom boxing’s Eddie Hearn – promoter of IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook – says that he can envision his fighter cleaning house at welterweight before moving up in pursuit of world titles at both 154 and 160.
Brook fights Argentina’s Diego Chaves on October 24th in Sheffield before supposedly then closing out his year in December on the big Anthony Joshua/Dillian Whyte bill from London’s O2, that it’s mooted will be the 3rd Matchroom/Sky PPV of 2015.
Virgil Hunter to Kovalev: ‘Nobody Has Ever Walked Through Andre Ward!
Andre Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter says that if he is to become a fully fledged 175 lb fighter and sign to fight Russian banger Sergey Kovalev, it will happen when they are ready to do it and not the other way around.
Ward returned after 19 months out at a catch-weight of 172 lbs in June, beating up on overmatched British challenger Paul Smith and there is strong rumour that the Roc Nation star will next appear against a TBA opponent on the undercard of November’s Cotto/Canelo mega-fight, as he prepares for an eventual move to 175 good and proper.
