The supposed return of Tyson Fury to boxing has taken well over two years, his return to a boxing ring may well take longer or it might not even happen at all. However Fury is nothing if not the king of getting the media, via social media into a frenzy and everyone seems to have an opinion on him and what he should do next.
Gennady Golovkin Vs. Julian Jackson: Talk about a Dream Fight!
Reigning middleweight king Gennady Golovkin has thus far stood up to every punch he has been hit with, he has beaten every man he has faced at pro level (Canelo Alvarez aside, yet most people feel GGG did more than enough to have won the September Super-Fight that was instead scored as a draw) and he has made an incredible number of title retentions.
Dogboe stops Juarez in 5 to win WBO strap
Ghana’s Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe put up a dominant show culminating in a round 5 stoppage of Mexican challenger, Cesar Juarez in their clash for the WBO interim world super bantamweight title in Accra on Saturday night.
Undefeated Dogboe improved his unblemished record to 18-0 courtesy the 12th knockout of his rapidly rising professional career whilst condemning Juarez to the 6th defeat of his now 26-fight career (20-6, 15 KOs).
Anthony Joshua: If Fury was fit, we’d probably be talking about March
While unbeaten former heavyweight champ (still lineal) Tyson Fury continues to call out reigning WBA/IBF champ Anthony Joshua for his first fight back – the return expected, Fury says, in either April or May – Joshua has replied by stating how this is mere “fantasy” on the part of Fury.
Fury, 25-0, who has hurled all manner of insults at Joshua, 20-0, has questioned whether or not AJ “has the balls” to fight him. In response, Joshua has told the Daily Mail how if it were up to him, he would fight Fury next – but that he cannot do so as, “he’s just not fit, he hasn’t had a fight.”
Isaac Dogboe wins thriller with Cesar Juarez, wins interim WBO junior-featherweight belt
Last night in front of his adoring fans in Accra, Ghana – in the first “world” title fight of 2018 – unbeaten warrior Isaac Dogboe won a thrilling action fight with Mexico’s Cesar Juarez. Dogboe, 18-0(12) weathered a hellish early storm from the 20-6(15) Juarez to come on and get the stoppage in round-five.
Lolenga Mock: The toughest 45 year old in boxing today
Born in Kinshasa, Zaire in April of 1972, Lolenga Mock is arguably the toughest, grittiest “old man” in boxing today – and the super-middleweight/light-heavyweight is largely operating under the radar. Yesterday in Copenhagen, Denmark, Mock upset former interim WBA middleweight champ Dmitry Chudinov via close but unanimous ten-round decision.
Deontay Wilder vs Anthony Joshua: A modern day Foreman-Lyle!?
What took place inside the erected boxing ring at Caesars Palace on the 24th of January 1976 rocked, thrilled, shocked and stunned fight fans the world over. To this day, fans and experts point to the battle heavyweight contenders George Foreman and Ron Lyle put on as THE heavyweight slugfest to end all heavyweight slugfests. Both hunting another shot at the coveted world title, these two tough guys went at it in simply crazy fashion; the pair caring nothing for defence as they traded leather – and knockdowns.
Marciano’s 49-0, Mayweather’s 50-0, Foreman’s record as oldest heavyweight champ – Wilder says he can break ’em all!
WBC heavyweight king Deontay Wilder is in a mood to not only break opponents, and their bones, but also world records. Wilder, currently unbeaten with impressive 39-0 numbers (all but one of his wins coming via stoppage) says he can “easily” top Floyd Mayweather’s astonishing 50-0 pro record; Floyd actually besting heavyweight immortal Rocky Marciano’s magic 49-0 number this year (some say with an asterisk firmly placed alongside the 50-0 due to the fact that Mayweather picked up his “final” win against a boxing novice).
