Arreola had taken a pounding from Wilder and his corner decided that he’d had enough after the round ended. Arreola’s left eye was nearly closed, and he had a cut near the bridge of his nose.

The judges scored the fight a 10 round draw initially. However, on a recount of the scores, the judges scored it 96-93, 95-94, and 95-94, for the 32-year-old Diaz.

WBA super middleweight champ Giovanni De Carolis (24-6-1, 12 KOs) retained his title tonight with a 12 round majority draw against the light hitting challenger Tyron Zeuge (18-0-1, 10 KOs) at the Max Schmeling Halle in Berlin, Germany. The scores for the fight were 114-114, 115-114 Zeuge, 115-115. The 24-year-old Zeuge hurt his left shoulder in the 10th round, and he struggled thereafter.

36-year-old super middleweight contender Arthur Abraham (45-5, 30 KOs) beat little known bottom dweller Tim-Robin Lihaug (15-2, 8 KOs) by an eighth round stoppage tonight in a showcase/confidence booster type of fight at the Max Schmeling Halle, Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, Germany.

Abraham knocked Lihaug with a 1-2 combination in the 8th. After Lihaug got back to his feet, Abraham unloaded on him with power shots until the fight was stopped. The fight was stopped at 1:09 of the round.
