Wladimir Klitschko says he will take Tyson Fury to court “to protect my own rights and eventually see the rematch”

It seems we are further away than ever when it comes to seeing the anticipated return fight between Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko. Ex-champ Klitschko, who first saw a July 9 return with Fury fall apart due to Fury picking up a calf injury, is now threatening to take the man who out-pointed him to court. Klitschko uploaded a video on his Twitter page earlier today, in which he stated the following:

“Dear fans, I just want to keep you updated on the status quo of my rematch against Fury,” Klitschko said. “Unfortunately, Team Fury is trying to change the terms of an already-signed contract multiple times and it is going on endless. To protect my own rights and eventually see the rematch, I am forced to go to court.”

So far, no actual legal action has been taken, but Klitschko is clearly not at all happy. His manager Bernd Boente has been quoted by many boxing web sites, after he spoke with UK Boxing News. Boente said he can not publicly discuss the exact things Team Fury is trying to change in the contract, but they are obviously important issues – so say Team Klitschko anyway.

Just what is going on with this rematch? If Fury is trying to change key parts of a contract he has already signed, the question is why? Does Fury still want this fight or not? Hopefully things will not escalate to the point where Klitschko has to take Fury to court; things could well go on forever and ever in that case. Fight fans just want to see the two big men fight again so as to find out whether or not Fury simply caught Klitschko on a bad night last November (that fight seeming as though it took place much longer than nine months ago) or if he is the real deal.

Fury better hurry up and fight again soon or else he may well run the risk of being stripped of his world titles. Why is it so many fans feel Fury-Klitschko II is a fight that will never take place?

Fury has yet to respond to Klitschko’s video comments.
