Esteemed German trainer, Ulli Wegner, has once again hooked up with WBO 168 lb champion, Arthur Abraham ahead of ‘King’s’ fight with British challenger, Martin Murray on November 21.

The 73 year old, long-time Sauerland cornerman, has returned from an Achilles injury and is back in the gym with Abraham, who has been looking rejuvenated of late, ahead of what will be the fifth defence of his title against the Brit, at the TUI Arena in Hannover.

‘It’s great to have Mr Wegner back,” Abraham said of his long-standing mentor’s return. “We had been talking everyday on the phone and discussing my progress but there is no substitute to having him there in person giving me direct feedback.

“I rely on his input and with him in my corner there is no way I can lose,” he added.

Wegner was a little more cautious regarding Murray, who has been hard done on the scorecards in Germany before, battling to a draw against Felix Sturm back in 2012, and has warned his fighter he needs to be at his best against a Murray who is looking to finally capture world honours at the 4th time of asking.

“Arthur must focus all his energy and attention on this fight or risk losing his world title,” he said. ”And that is why we need to complete isolation. My job is to ensure he is in top championship condition, and currently his fitness is not where I would like it to be.

“Now, he must step up his efforts or prepare for defeat,” he added.
