Tyson Fury just does not care! Wladimir Klitschko made to swear!

Watch the video filmed by Kugan Cassius over at IfilmTV (scroll below to find) if you cannot be bothered to read about the highlights today’s Tyson Fury-Wladimir Klitschko press conference gave us in Manchester, but either way, fans have to agree: Fury, out of shape (by his own admission) and not at all in love with boxing (far from it, Fury said today that he “hates” boxing) simply does not care what anyone thinks about him.

Fury knows he is expected to be entertaining whenever he gives an interview or attends a press conference, but today at The MEN – the site that will play host to his rematch with Klitschko – the world heavyweight champion was just being himself. And he was, in the opinion of some, entertaining as hell. Some fans are not in favour of Fury’s outspoken nature, but those in attendance today in Manchester, bar Klitschko and Bernd Boente, sure seemed to find Fury funny, entertaining and worth applauding.

Fury was, basically, Fury: swearing, promising to KO Klitschko in a round, refusing to talk about IBF champ Anthony Joshua and stating how it is an insult to call him an athlete. Fury removed his t-shirt at one point, to proudly show off his fleshy midriff. “You lost to a fat man, shame on you,” he taunted Klitschko as he showed the entire world the effects of the partying he has been enjoying since he beat Klitschko last November. Fury has been training, we are led to believe, hard, for the past ten days, but there is clearly lots of serious work to do until the heavyweight king is anywhere close to achieving royal conditioning.

But again, Fury DOES NOT CARE. Laugh along with him as he shows off his belly, he encourages you! Fury, at one point, said that even if Klitschko – who tried to wear a smile during stages of today’s presser, but was more at home with a scowl – knocks him out in the July 9th rematch, he will be pleased; free from the sport he says he hates anyway. And Klitschko, who, it must be said, appears to be once again at a loss over how to deal with Fury; either when to comes to a war of words or a war in the ring – vowed today to knock Fury out in the rematch.

When asked just how this will be possible in light of how few punches he threw in fight-one, Klitschko merely repeated himself, “I am going to knock Tyson Fury out,” he proclaimed. A sign of how rattled Klitschko has been by Fury perhaps came when it was the dignified ex-champion, the man who says boxing needs a respectful champion instead of the foulmouthed Fury, who initiated first blood in the swearing war.

“I want to say, f**k off,” Wladimir said, to Fury and to those who support Fury’s often controversial beliefs. So, has Fury reduced Klitschko to his level, or was Wladimir, as he later stated, “having fun?”

Fury is a one-off, whether for good or for bad. Klitschko has one seemingly unfathomable puzzle to solve on July 9th.
