In showing off his incredible boxing skills, 2012 Olympic gold medalist Oleksandr Usyk (10-0, 9 KOs) out-boxed previously unbeaten WBO cruiserweight world champion Krzysztof Glowacki (26-1, 16 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night to win the WBO belt at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland.

Glowacki tried his best to land one of his big left hand bombs get a knockout, but he was hitting air all night long. The 6’3” Usyk’s defense was too good, his chin too solid and his defense too iron tight for Glowacki to do much in the fight. It was a one-sided fight after the 4th. The judges scored it 119-109, 117-111 and 117-111. East side Boxing agreed with the 119-109 score. It’s the only score that made sense. Glowacki was missing too much and fighting too timidly to five him more than one or two rounds.

Glowacki showed a good chin in taking some big shots in the later rounds of the fight from Usyk. Glowacki would have taken even more big power shots if he had opened up against Usyk to try and win the fight, but he didn’t appear to want to take any real risks in the fight.

Usyk’s shots early in the fight caused Glowacki to fight in a cautious manner that we hadn’t seen in his last two fights against Steve Cunningham and Marco Huck. Against those two fighters, Glowacki was very aggressive in looking to take their heads off. Glowacki couldn’t do that tonight against Usyk, because he kept getting hit.

By the 9th round, things were looking bleak for Glowacki, as he was eating nonstop jabs from Usyk and he was helpless to do anything about it. Glowacki landed a couple of left hands to the head of Usyk. However, this only hardened the resolve of the Ukrainian Usyk, who came back a beautiful flurry of shots late in the round. Glowacki seemed helpless to stop the shots, and just covered up in cowering manner to block as many punches as he could. Glowacki tried to answer back with a five-punch flurry, but all the punches were blocked on the arms of Usyk.
