Fury bragging about not training for Joshua fight

Tyson Fury is starting to sound like he really doesn’t want the fight with Anthony Joshua in June. Yesterday, Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) said he’s not sure if he’ll take the fight with Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) because of stuff going on behind the scenes and how he wants money in his pocket.

Now Fury says he’s not training any longer, and he only needs trashmen to work as his sparring partners to prepare him to face IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Joshua.

It sounds like Fury is upset because he didn’t get his tune-up fight in December as he wanted. Fury’s comments in the last two days make him sound like a kid that is having a tantrum after not getting his way.

Fury not training anymore?

“I’m not training anymore. I only need six/seven weeks anyway for these bums,” said Fury to @MTKGlobal.

“I don’t need no big, great sparring partners for a bodybuilding type of guy; I just need the local binmen.”

I guess the idea is if Fury doesn’t train and he gets beaten, he can use his lack of preparation for the fight as a handy excuse to diffuse the criticism. Is that how it is?

What happens with Fury is getting annihilated by Joshua in June? Will he blame his lack of quality training for his loss, or will he accept that the better man beat him?

I know this writer sees Fury using him not getting a tune-up and sparring parter situation as a crutch to give him cover from the slings and arrows of the boxing public.

If Fury doesn’t want the fight with Joshua right now, he needs to speak up and say it rather than using a passive-aggressive approach to worm his way out of it.

I mean, there are plenty of fighters in the heavyweight division that would give their right arm to get a title shot against Joshua.

Andy Ruiz Jr would be the first in line to get another crack at Joshua’s titles, and that’s a fight that would sell well in the United States, perhaps better than Joshua-Fury.

Tyson complaining about fans not believing him

“You never know if I’m telling the truth or not,” said Fury. “When I tell the truth, people don’t believe me anyway, and when I don’t tell the truth, they still don’t believe me.

“The proof’s in the pudding, everything I said in my whole career I backed up.”

The fans would believe Fury if he tells them the truth about why he’s dragging his feet with his negotiations with Joshua. If he doesn’t want the fight with AJ, he should speak up and tell the fans that he doesn’t fancy the job.
