Tyson Fury has placed a dangling carrot in the direction of two big names who once ruled the world and commanded the attention the 29 year old, unbeaten former heavyweight champ enjoys (this despite the fact that Fury has not boxed in well over two long years).
Former World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury has had the ban on his boxing license lifted, with Shannon Briggs the instant frontrunner to face the ‘Gypsy King’ in his return to the ring. And the odds of a 2018 clash with Anthony Joshua have been slashed by bookmakers.
Heavyweight Shannon Briggs is saying he’ll be Tyson Fury’s next opponent in April when the overweight former heavyweight champion makes his return to the ring following a 2-year layoff. Briggs says he’s already been in talks for the fight with the 6’9” Fury (25-0, 18 KOs), and he’s ready to knock him out.
Shannon Briggs has revealed that he plans on making a comeback in 2018 following a drug suspension. The 46-year-old Briggs has been out of the ring for a year and a half since stopping Emilio Ezquiel Zarate on May 21, 2016.
There sure is some crazy comeback talk fluttering around the boxing word right about now: what with Oscar De La Hoya saying how he has been “secretly training” and how he needs just “two rounds” to stop MMA star Conor McGregor, and with Julio Cesar Chavez, who pretty much disgraced himself in his last fight, against Canelo Alvarez, plotting yet another ring return of his own (would you pay good money to see him fight again?)
Shannon Briggs has taken to social media (again) to announce how he has been in talks with promoter Frank Warren regarding a bout between he and the possibly set to return Tyson Fury. It goes without saying that absolutely nothing is close to close to concrete as far as these two great talkers are concerned (will Fury ever fight again? Will Briggs get a license to box in the UK himself?) but Briggs is eager to be the first man Fury faces upon his will-it-won’t-it-happen comeback.
