First of all, it must be pointed out how Joseph Parker has no evidence whatsoever – zero, nada, zilch. And Parker himself stops short of flat-out calling Anthony Joshua a steroid cheat. However, the reigning WBO heavyweight champ has caused quite a stir with his comments on this, always a sensitive subject, all the same.

Speaking with the Radio Sports Breakfast, the New Zealand warrior began by replying to Joshua’s recent statement that Parker is “The Pie King” (a reference to Parker’s physique).

According to the New Zealand Herald, Parker would be looking at a potential $12M payday for the Joshua fight, which is expected to take place in the UK.

It’s looking likely that we will see a three-belt heavyweight unification showdown next spring. Anthony Joshua, the WBA/IBF ruler, and Joseph Parker, the WBO champ, have arrived at a deal regarding the purse split for the fight. After weeks of haggling, the two sides have finalized the money side of things – with Parker reportedly in line to get between 30 and 35% of the cash – and the two teams are now looking to make the fight a reality for between March 31 and April 28 of next year.

Top Rank boss Bob Arum is a whole lot more optimistic than a number of other people are when it comes to an Anthony Joshua-Joseph Parker heavyweight unification fight taking place soon. Arum, speaking with The Los Angeles Times when going through the early 2018 schedule of fights to go out on ESPN, said he feels the fight will get done once the two sides agree over the purse split (a scenario Arum says he feels will indeed unfold – “with a little tugging and so forth.”)
