Results: Povetkin defeats Hammer
Former WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin (33-1, 23 KOs) had an easy time defeating contender Christian Hammer (22-5, 12 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision on Friday night in a WBA heavyweight title eliminator at the DIVS, Ekaterinburg, Russia.
The scores 120-107, 120-108 and 118-108. Boxing 247 had Povetkin winning 12 rounds to 0. Hammer looked terrible. As bad as Hammer looked, it’s hard to believe he was ranked in the top 15 at all.
Results: Lomachenko beats Rigondeaux
WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KOs) defeated previously unbeaten Guillermo Rigondeaux (17-1, 11 KOs) by a 6th round injury stoppage on Saturday night in their long awaited match on ESPN at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Lomachenko looked at least 20 pounds heavier than Rigondeaux. There was no way Rigondeaux was going to win the fight based on Lomachenko’s size advantage.
Results: Luis Ortiz stops Daniel Martz
Heavyweight Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz (28-0, 24 KOs) kept his unbeaten record perfect with a 2nd round knockout win over Daniel Martz (16-6-1, 13 KOs) on Friday night in front of a good size crowd at the Hialeah Park in Miami, Florida.
Ortiz, 38, hit Martz with a left hand to the head that torpedoed him into the canvas. Martz went down face first, and he never attempted to get back up before the fight was stopped. Referee Samuel Burgos stopped the fight officially at 0:43 of round 2.
Weights: Lomachenko 129, Rigondeaux 128.4
Vasyl Lomachenko (9-1, 7 KOs) and Guillermo Rigondeaux both made weight at their weigh-in on Friday for their huge bout this weekend at MSG in New York. Lomachenko weighed 129 pounds. Rigondeaux (17-0, 11 KOs) came in at 128.4 lbs. The limit for the super featherweight division is 130 lbs.
Lomachenko, 29, looked a lot bigger than Guillermo at the weigh-in. The weight was almost the same, but Lomachenko looked like he belongs in a higher weight class.
Results: Rey Vargas defeats Oscar Negrete

Vargas suffered cuts to each eye during the contest, but he fought well despite dealing with the blood. The judges scored it 119-108, 119-108, and 120-108.

WBC super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (43-4-1, 39 KOs) and Juan Francisco Estrada (36-2, 25 KOs) will meet up in SuperFly2 card on February 24 at the Forum in Inglewood, California. The fight will be shown on HBO Boxing.

Miguel Cotto and Sadam Ali made weight on Friday for their fight on Saturday night on HBO World Championship Boxing from Madison Square Garden in New York. Cotto (41-5, 33 KOs) came in at a low 151.6 pounds, and his welterweight opponent Sadam Ali (25-1, 14 KOs) scaled in heavier at 153 pounds.

Mansour-Kuzmin ruled 3rd round no contest
In a disappointing result, heavyweights Sergey Kuzmin (11-0, 8 KOs) and Amir Mansour (23-2-1, 16 KOs) saw their highly anticipated content end in a 3rd round no contest on Monday after the two of them were cut from a head-butt in round 3 at the Luzhniki, in Moscow, Russia.
